161 | Does that make it clearer? | Mark 10:30 | Asis | 96729
You are probably right. I get carried away some times and ask the hard question and them get into trouble. Sometimes we just need to know. I would be honored to share you house and break bread with you. That day may come. I look forward to future posts. Asis |

162 | Still no place for Jesus. | Luke 2:7 | Asis | 106208
Augusto It is true that the inn keeper had no place for Joseph and Mary in the inn. However He did not turn them away. He could have said, "No place here for the likes of you," and turned them out into the street. No, he gave them a place out of the weather. A place warm and comfortable. There was even a cradle for the child to lie in. Yes, it was humble beginings for the Son of God, but it was enough. Do we have a place in our heart for Him. He doesn't care if it is the best room in the house, only that it is a place in our heart. Asis |

163 | What is this salvation? | Luke 2:30 | Asis | 106869
Mommapbs We must think as those in the time depicted in Luke 2. Salvation as known to the Jews was the Messiah. Hence the capitalization of the word. It is a person - Jesus. This is why Simeon can say "For my eyes have seen Your Salvation." Gen. 49:18 “For Your salvation I wait, O LORD." 'The word "salvation" is a figure of speech called "metonymy" (When one name or noun is used in place of another, to which it stands in a certain relation). Put for Him who brings deliverence from all the works of the old serpant (E.W. Bullinger, The Companion Bible).' Simeon is saying (my paraphrase) For my eyes have seen the Messiah, the destroyer of the works of the devil, God made flesh, the Word made flesh, He who is the One by which all was created, He who by which if we shall only believe we can be remade into begottens of God. The Cross is the method by which God used to make all His promises yes and amen in Christ Jesus. It is the cross that God has used to set us free. The cross - the place of death, where He died for us once for all. The cross - where I lay my "self" down to die with Him so I may be raised with Him in newness of life, shouting HALLELUJAH. GREAT IS THE NAME OF THE LORD. Asis |

164 | What is the "sign to be opposed?" | Luke 2:34 | Asis | 106867
mommapbs The "sign to be opposed" is Jesus on the cross. Jesus hanging from a tree pierced in His side blood running down. The Jews were waiting for a redeemer who would rid them of their conquerors. They wanted a Judge as of old who would set them free from their opressors forever. The picture of their Messiah hanging from a tree would prove to be a stumbling block to them. So it is today. At this time of year it is all right and quite acceptable to talk about the birth of Jesus. The little Lord Jesus in an manger, Mary and Josef oogling their new born. The shepherds looking in awe as the animals speak and the 3 Kings from orient come to bring gifts to the new born King. We can even put this on TV without much objection. BUT do not talk about Jesus' death on the cross. Don't mention that He is the only way to the Father. Keep your mouth shut about salvation is only gained through Him. Talk that way and you will soon find that this "sign" is still the stumbling block it was 2003 years ago. Yes, this does indeed point to the sign of Jonah. Praise God for the Salvation of the Lord. 165 | Is it so hard to believe Jesus | Luke 6:46 | Asis | 81319
Isn't this walk a walk of surrender, a walk of renewal? I mean before I believed, Jesus was just this guy and then something change in my thinking and I recognized who He was and for the first time knew who I was. I asked Him to be the Lord of my life and have been surrendering and being renewed ever since. What is being taught to the new believers (and old for that matter) that causes so much trouble? Jesus said, (Luke 6:46) And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Is it so hard to believe Jesus? |

166 | Explain the relationship between things | Luke 14:26 | Asis | 101285
Aixen7z4 It really isn't that tough of a verse if the word "Hate" is defined as "to love less". therefore Jesus is saying that you must love me more than any in your family. Easy to say but a stark reality when confronted with the choice. However, if we will love God more than anything on this world it will prove a benefit. That is how I would explain it to a new believer. Asis |

167 | Resource for "hate"? | Luke 14:26 | Asis | 101445
Seeking4truth I am sometimes completely mystified by the words some translators have chose for a Greek or Hebrew word. As I have seached for the most accurate dictionary of Greek and Hebrew words of the Bible, I find that the WordStudy Bible, edited by Spiros Zodhiates, helps me the most. What is difficult for us who do not read Biblical Greek is that we only have the translators words to go by. This can be a frustrating experience. i think you will find the above book helpful. Asis |

168 | Us or them, for now or dead with Apostle | John | Asis | 85130
Is Jesus talking to us? John 20:21 through John 20:23 (NASB) 21So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said* to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23“If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained.” |

Thank you DAIRYLEADER5 Your insight into the word is appreciated. I agree that there are some who believe this part of the Bible and not that. I have wondered how they reconcile that God would take the time to say something and have someone write it down so we can read it, yet it is not for us. It is a wonderment. Have you ever thought about how in Genesis 2:7 God breathed the "puff (naphach)of life" into Adam and made him a living soul and Jesus "puffed (lambano ) on them and said receive (Re meaning again, anew, back and ceive meaning to take, hold, or grasp), take again, the Holy Spirit and made us a living spirit. We say that when we receive the Holy Spirit we are reborn or born again. Could it be that we became like we were before the fall? That Adam was born when God breathed in him and we are reborn when Jesus breathes on us and we REceive Him? REstored REconciled REdeemed REmade REvived |

3 How does the greek grammar go against the face value of our forgiving sins of another. In my church when someone comes to give their life to Jesus the say "The Sinners Prayer." We tell them their sins are forgiven. God forgives sin only Him. NO DOUBT. But Jesus as a man (Phil 2:7) filled with the power of the Holy Spirit (Luke 4:1,14) repeatedly said "Your sins are forgiven" This is the phrase that got him into trouble with the religous leaders more than anything else He said. If I am "in Him" isn't it Him who lives not I. Cant He, through me, forgive sins like He said in the gospels. He knew God is the one who forgives sin just like I know and all believers know yet He said, Matt. 9:6 (NIV) "But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then he said to the paralytic, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” Again: Mark 2:5 (NIV) 5When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” As I understand it, and maybe I'm wrong, if I use the name of Jesus I have the authority Jesus has given us. I also know that all scripture must be taken together. For someone to have there sins forgiven they must confess them and He is quick to forgive them. It could never be just me. It must be from a repentant heart and God. If you saw a fellow human sinking in the sands of despair and seeng that they have cried out to God would you not tell them their sins are forgiven and wouldn't it be true. |

173 | Was the wine alcoholic or not | John 2:10 | Asis | 84476
Matt Where was the last Passover Seder you attended held. The wine used in the Seder of Passover is in fact a alcoholic wine. Even though the bread which is the bread baked on the backs of the Hebrews as they left Egypt has no leaven. If it was just grape juice then it would be grape juice now. |

174 | A gift. For ME | John 3:21 | Asis | 100484
God 's word is true. He is not a man that He would lie, He does not repent, if He said it it is true, if He said He would do it it is done. Right? Why then is it so hard to believe that what the word says about us is reality. We are crucified with Christ. Our old man was crucified with Christ. We have been raise with Christ in newness of life. We are a new creation. Jesus is the last adam and the second man. We are to reckon (account) ourselves dead to sin. We are sons and daughters of God, joint heirs with Christ. We have the same power in us that raised Christ from the grave. We can do all things through Christ which strengthens us. We have been given ALL things that pertain to life and godliness. We have been placed IN CHRIST by God. He transfered us from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His Son. By the promises given to us we might (shall) be partakers of the divine nature. Jesus has destroyed Him who had power over death. Resist the devil and he will flee. There is no condemnation to those who are IN CHRIST. We are the righteousness of God. We don't have guilt and shame any more. We have been made white as snow. There is no temptation that comes upon us that is unique to us, greater than we can handle and that an escape is made available to us. We are washed, we are sanctified, we are justified in the name of Jesus and the Spirit of God. There is more and more that is true about the condition of the believer yet we don't believe? Doesn't the truth make you free? Didn't the Son make you free? If we are saved why do we go out of our way to not be. Can't we accept this free gift? |

We, ALL need to meditate on these and prazn's verses before we let ur fingers touch the keys. John 13:34 through John 13:35 (NASB) 34“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35“By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” Eph. 4:29 through Eph. 4:32 (NASB) 29Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. 30Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. Luke 6:46 (NASB) 46“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? |

179 | Reading Between the "Lions" | John 11:35 | Asis | 83474
Hank Therre is know dout that our edjucashun system is lacking wen ist comes to teaching english. Spelling is neglected grammar is neglected and composition is not required. Now there amy be3 some who would argu that i am rong and maybe I am. So if out in the world is where I have to learn how to do it correctly we should have patience with and tolerance of those who have not received the education or paid attention to the education that we have received. Let us then be techers of the words and phrases not just critics. Not all of us are capable of writing literature every time we respond to a question on the forum. I agree tthat a review sometimes is in order. Your friend in Christ Jeff |

I agree with Hank. I was being facetious with my note. You have some good ideas for the Lockman Foundation. I use a word processor program occasionaly for spell check (I should have used it right now)and it would be great to have something like WORD as the text editor. Then we could be in the Word with Word while we share the Word.
