305 | Did Jesus have anxiety? | 1 John 4:18 | Asis | 85405
Good evening mommapbs Anxiety is 1 a : painful or apprehensive uneasiness of mind usually over an impending or anticipated ill b : fearful concern or interest c : a cause of anxiety 2 : an abnormal and overwhelming sense of apprehension and fear often marked by physiological signs (as sweating, tension, and increased pulse), by doubt concerning the reality and nature of the threat, and by self-doubt about one's capacity to cope with it The thing about Jesus that separates Him from us is the way he dealt life. He was without sin not without feelings. He suffered every temptation we suffer, only He never gave in to any temptation. When the trials came He went to God. He didn't read a book or listen to a tape or ask a rabbi, He prayed to GOD. He prayed to the Father three times to take the cup from Him. He was so intense that He sweat blood. Luke 22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. [KJV] agonia: a struggle (properly the state), i.e. (figurative) anguish :- agony. But regardless how He felt about what He was going to face He WAS OBEDIENT. Obedient unto death even the death of the cross. The sin of Adam was rebellion, disobedience to God. Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. [KJV] Our restoration by Jesus was obedience to God. By His suffering He learned obedience. Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; [KJV] After asking three times He set His face toward the cross. The stuggle, agony, anguish over. Peace and determination replaced any other thought. HE TRUSTED IN THE LORD! How do we deal with the trials in life which cause us agony? Do we trust in the Lord? Jesus is our model, He has shown us Kingdom behavior. Cast all your cares upon Jesus because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Trust in the LORD with ALL your heart; and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). He will see you through just as He saw Jesus through. |

306 | why I need to contend for faith? | Jude 1:3 | Asis | 83665
Hello Challengeheart The phrase in the verse which concerns you is "Contend for THE faith." The word here rendered “earnestly contend”— —is one of those words used by the sacred writers which have allusion to the Grecian games. Compare the notes, 1 Cor. 9:24, following. This word does not elsewhere occur in the New Testament. It means “to contend upon”—i. e., “for or about” anything; and would be applicable to the earnest effort put forth in those games to obtain the prize. The reference here, of course, is only to contention by argument, by reasoning, by holding fast the principles of religion, and maintaining them against all opposers. For the faith—The system of religion revealed in the gospel. It is called “faith,” because that is the cardinal virtue in the system, and because all depends on that. The rule here will require that we should contend in this manner for all “truth.” Alfred Barnes So what is he talkin' about. We are to hold fast the principles of the gospel or the faith and keep them no matter what or who comes against us. Whether it is the guy down the street or your spouse, we are to stand firm in the Gospel we have been given. That gospel is THE FAITH or the WAY (Acts 9:2). So no, you do not have to contend for faith. God has given you his faith we need to take it and receive it. It is a gift. Rom. 12:3 (NIV) For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Rom. 10:17 (NIV) 17Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. I hope you find this helpful |

307 | wish you were hot or cold | Rev 3:16 | Asis | 83231
Look at the scriptures together. Rev. 3:15 through Rev. 3:16 (KJV) 15I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. The savor of something hot or cold has taste to the mouth. But a lukewarm liquid really has no taste. God is not happy with fence sitters. When you you are hot or cold for something you have taken a stand. When you are lukewarm your in a whatever mode, neither for or against. He is telling us Stand for something. |

308 | wish you were hot or cold | Rev 3:16 | Asis | 83261
Hello mommapbs Let this be our attitude. Galatians 2:19-20 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. [20] I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. [KJV] We have a tendancy to substitute "church" for Christ. We love the "church". We work for the "church". We "do" church, when we are called to BE church. We are called to BE Christ's body here on earth. We run around doing church things, We even study the word and fill ourselves up with endless interpretations and never learn the spirit of what we have studied. We fail apply it to our lives, to do what the Lord has commanded. Just as you said His desire is that we live to please Him. How do we do that? Jesus tells us to Love one another, to abide in Him and He will abide in us; John 17:19-22 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. [20] Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; [21] That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. [22] And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: [KJV] We are to be one with Christ as He was one with the Father. To know Jesus and NOT desire to be one with Him and do the work (BELEIVE GOD), to be one with Him, is to be lukewarm and He will spit those from his mouth. We look at something hot as "on fire for the Lord" and something cold as "Not desiring the Lord", but I submit that those two are same. Hot coffee tastes good and cold soda tastes good but if either is lukewarm we spit it from our mouth's. Remember hot or cold is ok it is the lukewarm that God doesn't want. I encourage all to seek what Paul sought (I draw you attention to verse 9 and excuse me for all the verses included once I started reading I couldn't decide where the verses made the point). Philip. 3:7-21 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. [8] Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, [9] And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: [10] That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; [11] If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. [12] Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. [13] Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, [14] I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. [15] Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. [16] Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. [17] Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. [18] (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: [19] Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) [20] For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: [21] Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. [KJV] LET US ALL BE FOUND IN HIM. GLORY TO GOD |

Revelation 7:4-8 lists 12 tribes. The list includes Mannaseh and Joseph? But Ephraim, Joseph's second born, the one blessed by Jacob with a greater blessing than Mannaseh is not shown, and then Jacob's son Dan is not listed either. Why was Mannaseh listed in place of Dan? |

310 | Whose will causes a believer to sin? | Rev 13:8 | Asis | 88129
It is a fact that Adam sinned and set us all on a course of iniquity. The question I read is "Can a BELIEVER sin?" A believer as I understand the word is on who is a follower and disciple of the Lord Jesus. The answer to the question about a believer is They only sin because they want to. We are dead to sin. No temptation copme upon us that is beyond that which we can handle. We sin because we choose to
311 | Why not sentences | Rev 22:18 | Asis | 97009
Scripture is laid out ion verses. This was done by someone after the Bible was complete. Why aren't the verses laid out in the incremental units of language called sentences. Some are complete sentences some are not. How can we get the meaning of a scripture without looking at the whole sentence that contains it. Is there a reason that scripture is broken up the way it is or was it abritrarily done? In a recent post Philip. 2:6-8 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: [7] But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: [8] And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. [KJV] But the sentence begins with verse 5 . .. .Philip. 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: [KJV] When this portion of the writers thought is included, doesn't it affect the meaning of the whole? I was just wondering why the bible is broken down in the way it is instead of sentences. Webster Dictionary says of a sentence. 4 a : a word, clause, or phrase or a group of clauses or phrases forming a syntactic unit which expresses an assertion, a question, a command, a wish, an exclamation, or the performance of an action, that in writing usually begins with a capital letter and concludes with appropriate end punctuation, and that in speaking is distinguished by characteristic patterns of stress, pitch, and pauses b : a mathematical or logical statement (as an equation or a proposition) in words or symbols. So why not split the Bible up into complete thoughts instead of partial thoughts? Anybody know why? |
