Dear Hank, Thank you that was food for thought and soul! -Kathy P.S. I know that my responses have not been forth coming. But it is not because I did not heed the advice of those who encourage my participation here. I have actually been on vacation in Oceanside this week (TALK ABOUT FUN!) and have had limited access to the computers available at the resort. God's traveling grace was with me and I have returned home, safe and secure. I'm back :) |

Dearest Joel, Though your apology is very much indeed a beautiful thing to behold, it is not necessary, you did nothing for me to take any heat. I just jumped into the fire feet first (grin) and it is nobody's bad. I would very much like to discuss more with you on this topic Joel. And I think you are correct it is wisest to speak outside this forum (at least for me) I got your email addy from your profile and I will contact you soon. (I have MSN messenger also. Thank you for your patience, Kathy |

I am here and would never allow you to quit participating in this forum because of my error (a misconception pointed out to me by Aixen) Honestly, there is much good in a forum such as this, and it matters not whether I am here or not. But I have been persuaded to stay and I certainly will, and I sincerely hope you will do the same. God is so VERY Good! -Kathy |

165 | Slain or knocked down | Eph 4:14 | khuck | 103985
Hi Bradk It is ironic that you used: "As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;" That is one of the themes that came out in this man's sermon. I did not question my relative on the incident. Although I am to understand that I was supposedly slained in Spirit. I wanted to jump up with indignation and scream to this Pastor, "Hey why did you push me down!" I was not slained in anything, I was knocked down on my taukus. And though that particular congregation considered it a charismatic move of the Spirit. I was pretty embarassed and had to be covered by a woman with a drape, my dress flew up. Can I ask you how common is this practice? (if you might know) And thank you for the response, I am still a bit weirded out by it. Trust, I will check references that you have provided. God Bless you, -Kathy |

Sorry Brad, I did not mean to imply that your references on this matter were false. I agree with all of your assertions and also the search where you directed me, yielded much. After reading the notes I understand why this man would literally shove me with so much force to the floor. (it was certainly a deceitful thing to do) The one post that stood out was that this is a pentecostal practice, and that is the denomination of my family member's church. I really appreciate your assistance, thank you! -Kathy |

Hi Radioman :) I did not mean to imply that is was an isolated Pentecostal practice. (just info gleaned from previous posts) But is it something that crosses denominational lines? Inquiring minds... (smile) -Kathy |

Dear Hank :) What are you doing reading my mind? That was my next question, which you have answered sufficiently. Where or how did this practice originate? You are on top of your game! (smile) I thank you for the further insight. I know I maybe a nuisance with this one... but the whole thing really shook me up. I felt more like I had suffered a certain form of violence at this man's hands. Next time I visit congregation (with family member or Christian friend), and there is an alter call for prayer, you better believe I will wait in the background to see what is happening. (grin) God Bless you Hank! -Kathy |

170 | Can you define Charismatic | Eph 4:14 | khuck | 104064
Hi EdB when I was first saved I believe the church that I belonged to was of the Holiness movement. I found that I could not live Holy without God's Grace. Yet we were told that indeed a man could live a sin-free life. I wore no jewelry except a lone watch, no make up, my skirts dragged the ground, my shirts covered all skin except my hands. No matter what I did I failed miserably to be Holy. It was all outward appearance. As I grew I began to pray about it. As I read and understood and came to realize that it was a noble and ideal dream, that I could not accomplish, but God is able to accomplish it. Due to your definitions I would say that my beliefs are still more in line with the Pentecostal, having seen the Gifts of the Spirit at work in the Church. Thank you so much for the further insight. -kathy |

Yes Hank I will accept your admonishment, even as I scroll through the personal chit chat posted here just tonight. When I came to this forum, as I read the Faq and "About the forum" I was struck that it said that this forum was: ...A synergetic resource built to enhance and deepen your study of God's Word. ...it's an opportunity to freely share your knowledge. ...gives the layman and scholar an opportunity to share truth and contribute wisdom. The post that you are admonishing me for writing to JoelK was an opportunity that I took to impart truth and contribute wisdom to an ugly situation. But since I misinterpeted the rules and you are just explaining after all of this time that: This is a Forum dedicated to Bible questions and Bible answers -- AND NOTHING ELSE! I will admit that most of my post are out of line and I am in the wrong place and I'll take this opportunity exit to quietly, leaving you 4 and no more. I will not slam the door and make any further noise shhhhh people are studying. This has been one real experience. Though it is inappropriate this is my last post so no need to respond. Always yours in Christ, Kathy Huck |

173 | Church budget not met should they beg? | 1 Tim 5:17 | khuck | 103964
Hello DedicatedToHim :) I will only address the healing portion of your post. By offering two of my favorite verses of scripture. ***you said, "God can heal anyone at anytime regardless if the budget is met in the Church. This has really bothered me. Well, please just offer me some more help with this." *** Isaiah 53:5 - But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Good Morning Radioman! We do need to be aware of these people... thank you for such detailed info. I have heard of and even seen some of these people, the one that is an obvious give away is Creflo "Dollar" (grin) But are you familiar with Fred Price? I know quite a few people who are emphatic that they are in control in Christ and they have the ability to permit God or give God permission when they so choose. He is no longer at this Crenshaw Christian Center he has built this huge gated and protected edifice on Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles. It is a very poor inner city area, and it is so sad to see the people flock to him for a false hope. He even has his own translation (done by him) of the Bible that is given to his members. If you think the others are way off the mark, you have to read this and please tell me what you think: http://www.letusreason.org/Wf27.htm God bless your day, -Kathy |

Blessings to you BradK, Sometimes I wonder if people read the entirety of my posts. You took an excerpt from my post which puts it way out of context. How could you ask me, "If I am endorsing this or condeming this type of mentality? " I humbly request that you would please re-read what I wrote IN CONTEXT, I ask this because I note that many here get all sorts of off-beat assumptions concerning my beliefs and motives when these things transpire and then the threads become so horrifically ugly. Please do this for me in brotherly love for me and I am sure you will withdraw your question to me. ***Note: Good Morning Radioman! Blessings to you BradK, I think it was sweet of you to take another look:) There is nothing to forgive because as you have said it was an oversight (which I gathered), and not an assumption. Are we good on it? You bet we are... we are fortunate enough to be walking together in His Goodness! Thank you so very much!! Speaking in Truth and Love :) -Kathy |

177 | define the family Pew Hebrews 10:24-25 | Heb 10:24 | khuck | 103694
As in any human family, the new Christian is to "grow up". Our baptism is symbolic of the death of our former self - we are in Christ a new creature. As a "babe in Christ" (I Cor. 3:1, I Peter 2:2), the new Christian, embraced in the bosom of the church, embarks on a life-long learning curve that affects every aspect of life. Hence the admonition to Christians: "... not forsaking the assembling of yourselves together" (Hebrews 10:25). Are we a supportive family? Are we honest in our worship? Do we accept broken people or keep them at arms distance? Do we recognize that everyone has something to contribute? We must look for ways to integrate new people into the fellowship. Too many churches are "closed" to newcomers. The doors are open but the people don't feel they are wanted at all.Continuing Encouragement After we come together, what do we do? Hebrews 10:25 suggests "exhorting one another." We need each other. Separation kills. Take a glowing coal from the fire and lay it aside from the rest of the coals, and it will grow cold. Take a budding branch from a tree and lay it aside, and it will dry up and die. Take a child of God from the family of God where he or she is sustained by the fellowship of the church, and he or she will grow spiritually dead. A coal can be tossed back into the fire and a branch can be grafted back into the tree, but only the dying Christian can put himself or herself back into the life-giving fellowship of God's church. These are several referencethat I found to "family pew. Though I find these word no where in scripture. |
