Dear Hopalong, Nice to see your post again. I am not aware of "Altar Call" has been a kind of practice in certain churches. My church does not have this kind of practice except when we have the evangelizing meeting for the unbelievers. Can you give more background of this practice (e.g. its origin, purpose, argument) or direct me to the source where I can check for myself? Thanks and Shalom Azure |

165 | Role of women in John 4, 12 and 20? | NT general | azurelaw | 202477
Dear moyekoli, For your information, the forum is not designed for doing homework assignment for users. In concern with your topical study, I would suggest that you compare the relevant scriptures with those in other Gospel Books to see the differences in order that you may grasp the idea and focus of how John convey the message. (It would not be necessarily relevent to your topic of study for the whole bible is talking about Christ not any other human beings.) For example, John 12:1-8 you cited, the same instance was recorded in Luke 7:37, Mat 26:7 and Mark 14:3 but only John mentioned the name of the woman. What does that mean in concern with John's perspective? I leave it to you to find out for yourself. But bear in mind that anything that is not clearly stated in scriptures is only our speculation. Hope the above helpful. Shalom Azure |

Dear Mr. C, As a parent, I can understand how heartbreaking it is to see a child went wrong. I believe those who are reading your post will be praying for you and your son, too. Cor 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 2 Cor 1:4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. Shalom Azure |

You asked the same question as Rose53 did. Are you classmates? :-) We do not encourage doing homework for anyone on the forum. However, our long time user Makarios has been so kind to provide one in his post 213397. Hope this is helpful for you. Mind you that you may risk yourself bearing the same answer as Rose53's...thus, cheating????? 2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. Shalom Azure |

176 | Did the Romans kill Jesus or did the Jew | NT general | azurelaw | 223177
Dear Bob, Welcome to the forum. We don't come to the forum to "beat" someone's view point, but to study the Bible for edifying one another and to grow for the glory of our Lord. What Tim has said can be found in the below scriptures clearly and plainly. Do we still need to seek other viewpoints? Acts 2:22 "Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know-- Acts 2:23 this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death. John 10:18 No one has taken it [my life] away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father. Shalom Azure |

Dear Bob, I am sorry for having offended your feeling of being lectured which was not my intent. My former answer was a supplement to Tim's (a busy pastor, while he did not cite scriptures but I guess he was answer in haste for that is not the usual way he posts as far as I know him) with supporting scriptures in compiling the TOU of the forum "sola Scriptura". As an active member [well, sometimes not quite active, frankly :-)] on the forum, users here always remind one another to stick to scriptures and diligently study the Word instead of proning to people's view point. I would have to tell you that such advice has been helping me a great deal and I have been blessed so much from them...of course I still make the same mistake :-( Therefore, I hope, as Doc suggested, you stay longer with us and study together for mutual edification and for the Glory of our Lord. Shalom Azure P.S. May my explanation draw us closer just like the distance between where you and I are in comparing to mine with the U.S. :-) |

Dear Pew, "...the kind of body that Saul saw on the road to Damascus..." Did Paul really see Jesus' body? (Acts 9:3-8, 22:6-7) or was he blinded by the glorious shining light from the resurrected Jesus? Shalom Azure |

180 | How do I keep a meak and humble heart? | NT general | azurelaw | 224912
Dear Patricia, I think I should not have made my reply to you last night (in fact, in the middle of the night) after a few hours of meeting at my child's school. Your feedback proved that I was too tired to write a post and I should go to bed instead :-) I am sorry that I did not make myself clear and I thank Pastor Beja for his helping hand. I am glad that you find his advice helpful to you (as I always do, too). While reading more of your exchange with Beja and knowing about your background, I am glad that you start to "seek" God and "want" Him (I use the quotation marks with hesitation as God always take the first step, not us). I think you did correctly in seeking His Word and improve your Bible study. As Beja said, you need to find a church that teaches sound doctrines and exercises brotherly love fellowship. It is a must for a christian's life. (2 Peter 5:8, Heb 10:25) You ask: Why you say WE in your statement becuse YOU clearly speaking for yourself... My answer: if you stay with the forum long enough, you will know :-) So, please stay around and grow with us in His precious Word. By the way, a welcome to you to the forum :-) May you be blessed in every espect of your life that you may know Him more and bring glory to Him. Shalom Azure |
