Thanks for your reply, Abdiel. Maybe I am too dense. I still don't get your point. In answer your above question - Yes, I do. God's eyes are not only on evils but every man and everything. He watches without slumber nor sleep. Ps 66:7 He rules by His might forever; His eyes keep watch on the nations; Let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Ps 2:4 He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them. Shalom Azure |

Dear iusmar, I just click either one of your posts for my note. You don't have to attach your email address to every (almost) of your posts. You may just put it into your user profile (a function provided by the SBF) if you want anyone to communicate with you privately. So that it won't appear irrelevant to the subject question. 143 | Stumpped by my son | Bible general Archive 3 | azurelaw | 191810
Dear Parable, You said : Boyd suggests evil is a NECESSARY (cap. for my emphasis) possibility in a world in which the following realities make love possible. Are you suggesting that without evil, it is of lesser possibility to love? Or in other words, without evil, it is impossible to love? The suggested freedom to choose love or not to love - I don't think we have freedom to choose love or not to love (our God is sovereign), but just we use our freedom to choose the love target. Thank you for your clarification. Shalom Azure |

Dear Michael, Welcome to the forum. Very well stated. Thank you for the sharing. Since you are new to the forum, let me try to navigate you to the functions of it if you don't mind. Click on the title line and scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will find past posts from various users attached to the thread. On the right hand side, you will see date of the posts and name of the posters. So, in this case you are responding to a post date back to 2001 and the poster is no longer active since 2003. How do you get to know if the poster active or not? Just click on the name then a box shows the registration date and the date of the last post the user made. Therefore in your case, I doubt you would get a reply from the user. I look forward to seeing more of your sharing on the forum. Shalom Azure |

147 | Killing of Joab and Adonijah | OT general | azurelaw | 175997
Dear Doc, Thanks for your answer. However, if I understand your answer correctly, I would need further clarification to my doubts: 1/ In the scripture, David said to Solomon "Deal with him according to your wisdom, but do not let his gray head go down to the grave in peace." (1 King 2:6, NIV version). On 1 King 2:29 ".... Solomon ordered Benaiah son of Jehoiada, 'Go, strike him down!'" From these two scriptures, I can only see that both David and Solomon decided to kill Joab. Is there anything between the lines as you said "intended to try him his crimes" which I had missed? 2/ I understand Solomon was not trying to kill Adonijah but showed his mercy to him by a covenant as you have mentioned. Do you mean that his (Adonijah's) request of marrying Abishag is a kind of evil which caused a breach of the covenant? However, there is no mention that Abishag was a concubine of David, but a virgin serving David only and David did not "sleep" with her neither. Anyway, I would say that Adonijah was a foolish and greedy man indeed. In Christ. Azure |

Hello, Gene4Christ: Yes, it is pretty hard for me to follow your post with those typos. :-) My suggestion would be: if you have MSword, you may type your post on the word file and spell check it, then copy and paste to the forum. Hope it wouldn't be too much trouble for you. What do you think? Shalom Azure |

150 | Where does Cain's wife come from? | OT general | azurelaw | 195691
nightmare, I agree with sister Cheri. You cannot just take the scripture out of its context. Let the scripture explain for itself. Most of the time, you have to also make comparison between chapters. I don't see the reason why we cannot continue to chapter 4 without fully understanding chapter 3. You have to understand that the division of chapters was not in the original writing. You are only partially right that sin in the garden was not the matter of the fruit (again, you are making a mistake - it has never ever mentioned it an apple), the sin was their disobedient to God's command (see Gen 3:17 - "...because you have listened to the voice of your wife.."). Your presumption (or even twisting the scripture) that Eve was sexually seduced by satan is totally out of context. People believe Cain is the son of Adam because IT IS CLEARLY WRITTEN IN THE BIBLE (Gen 4:1). Please stop making any speculations and fancying things for your own answer. By the way, you don't have a strong biblical support to your such notion. Please re-read the terms of use: You must abide by the following rules in connection with your use of the Forums: * Postings must be Biblically based and not opposing the Bible's sole authority (sola Scriptura), Christianity, or the deity of Jesus Christ. 2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. 155 | The risk of emptying oneself? | NT general Archive 1 | azurelaw | 179911
Dear CDBJ, (Your user name always makes me associate it with "TCBY - The Country's Best Yogurt" - yummy, yummy :) . I appologize if I offended you. I believe it bears a meaning and you wouldn't mind to tell me so that I won't have such a silly association anymore! ) Thanks for your response. Yes, that is why I wrote "so-call believer" instead of "true believer". Then what was Jesus talking about on these verses? I have had no ideas! Blessings to you on thanksgiving :) Azure |

156 | Genesis 3:16-17 | NT general Archive 1 | azurelaw | 180424
Ephesian 5:22-30, Paul had given us the idea of how men and women relate in Christian marriage. C.S. Lewis, in his book "The Four Loves" Chapter 4 - eros, did comment that only when the husband sacrifice himself to and love his wife as what Christ did to the church, the husband should claim himself the head of the wife. (Sorry, I have only got a Chinese version this book. Therefore, I cannot quote exactly the wordings of Mr. Lewis'. I trust someone on the forum is able to provide the oringal quote.) God bless Shalom Azure |

157 | Genesis 3:16-17 | NT general Archive 1 | azurelaw | 180453
Dear Jeff, Thank you for your kind words. I also admire your ability to explain or elaborate the context of scriptures in an easy and readable manner. I feel ashamed of myself that I might have spoilt this master's (Mr. Lewis) work due to my poor translation. (Hope he will forgive me in heaven) That's why I have mentioned that someone on this forum will be able to provide the original as I read in the past posts, there are fans of Lewis here. I think I should not content myself with the Chinese edition and I certainly need to buy an English copy. Shalom Azure |

158 | The risk of emptying oneself? | NT general Archive 1 | azurelaw | 180455
Dear Tim, Glad to have you on this forum. Yes, it is sky-blue, my favourite colour. I am happy to see that while most of the teens now are pursuing their lives in the worldly joy and lusts, you are devoting yourself to studying the word of God. What a blessing! I would like to encourage you persevere it. Don't give up. It would be a long and hard road but surely blessed with God's grace abundantly. Matt 19:27 Then Peter said to Him, "Behold, we have left everything and followed You; what then will there be for us?" 28: And Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29: "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms for My name's sake, will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life. 30 "But many who are first will be last; and the last, first. I always remind myself with verse 30. Shalom Azure |

160 | Am I still Married "in God's eyes"? | NT general Archive 1 | azurelaw | 189705
Dear ChristianMom, I feel extremely sorry for what you have encountered in your marriage. However, I would like to join with brothers BradK and Hank's advice to you. However, I would like you to know that you are doing fine in keeping yourself and your children safe from being physically abused. You mentioned that you are now focusing on your kids, church and God, which I think you are doing perfectly right. Keep it up. Put your faith in Him. I think, when you really focus on God, will you bother whether you are still married in God's eyes? Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want.... Keep you in my prayers. Shalom Azure |
