161 | what happends after you die | 2 Cor 5:8 | Mommapbs | 123794
Jesuswalks247 - this is what God's Word says. Our spirit leaves the body and is with Christ but the body remains until Christ returns and believers are all changed in a twinkling of an eye - 1 Cor 15:50-54. Jesus told the criminal on the cross, "Today you will be with Me in Paradise" Lk 23:43, Jesus went there and the one who believed went there also when he died. But today, Jesus is not in Paradise; He is in Heaven. When a believer dies he/she will be with Him there. Oh what a day when we see Jesus, face to face. Blessings, mommapbs |

162 | Isn't delusion dangerous? | 2 Thess 2:11 | Mommapbs | 122762
Greetings Aixen7z4 - please forgive me for not responding earlier - troubling issues in my life right now. You wrote: "believers can be deceived and can stray away from our service for God when we have failed to live in the light of God’s revealed truth." Yes, I'd agree. This is suggestive of "works" apart from Christ - "apart from Me you can do nothing." John 15:5 I'm not sure that people can believe they are saved when they are not -The Holy Spirit assures us of our salvation. We are told in 1 John to "test the spirits." We are told, "Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you--unless indeed you fail the test? 2 Cor 13:5" See also Phil 2:12 You asked: "What happens when a believer does not put up with sound doctrine?" Kalos offered this in a previous post: re apostacy - How does apostasy differ from heresy? "Apostasy, 'falling away,' is the act of professed Christians who deliberately reject revealed truth as to (1) the Deity of Jesus Christ, and (2) redemption through His atoning and redeeming sacrifice. Apostasy differs, therefore, from error concerning truth, which may be the result of ignorance, or heresy, which may be due to the snare of Satan (2 Tim 2:25-26), both of which may exist with true faith. The apostate is perfectly described in 2 Tim 4:3-4. Apostates depart from the faith, but not from the outward profession of Christianity (2 Tim 3:5). ... Apostasy in the church, as in Israel, is irremediable and awaits judgment." (p. 1304, New Scofield Reference Bible, Oxford, 1967) You asked: "What happens when a person refuses to accept the Gospel? Can it be that they are then allowed to think that something else is the gospel? (See 2 Thessalonians 2:10,11)." First of all, there is only one true Gospel. The rejection of that truth opens the door to all sorts of idolatrous belief. The rejection of salvation by Grace assumes that one relies upon works. IMO this is pride at the zenith. It is contrary to God; it is anitchrist. The embrace of this deceptive philosophy is the perversion of the true gospel - remember that Satan perverts and conterfeits. People who reject the Gospel, most often refuse to believe that they are in need of saving - they don't understand WHAT they need to be saved from - God's wrath. I suspect that folks who want to believe in universalism fall into this category. How can a loving God . . . God is merciful . . .but because they are so self focused, they lose sight of God's holiness. Mercy without justice is not mercy. Aixen, while I understand your questions, perhaps this particular Forum is not the place for this dialog, especially when some of what you have posted might prompt unnecessary doubt in the hearts and minds of some "babes in Christ." 165 | Woman to change last name when married | Eph 5:33 | Mommapbs | 121873
Greetings - the use of a surname did not even come into common practice until after 1000 AD. The use of the husband's name is not a matter of law but rather tradition in some cultures. There is no Biblical mandate for this. If the husband feels strongly that his wife take his surname, then out of respect (love of course promts this!) she should honor her husband. Yet if the woman feels strongly about keeping her birth surname, her husband should honor her desire in the same way (prompted by love). I know different couples with the same last name, some with two different names and others who use both surnames. Frankly, this is a matter for the couple to decide and we as outsiders would do well to respect their wishes. Blessings, mommapbs |

166 | Jesus at age 12 learning or teaching? | Luke 3:23 | Mommapbs | 121630
Although Jesus was listening and asking questions, we also learn this: "And all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers." Luke 2:47 Does not God do the same today? He listens and asks questions of us! ("Who do you say that I am?" Mt 6:15 comes to mind) Blessings, mommpabs |

167 | Called According To HIS Purpose-Ministry | 2 Tim 2:15 | Mommapbs | 121628
Greetings! I'm not going to question your calling, but I do have some concerns about your preparedness. From our recent dialog, it appeared that you were not clear on the doctrine of propitiation. How can one who does not understand the elementary teaching of the Gospel play a role in the ordination of others? I would suggest that you prepare yourself first. 2 Tim 2:15; 4:6 Are you currently under the teaching of an elder or Pastor? In this way, when those under your care have questions (such as you first posed on this Forum) you will be able to answer them. Being set apart by God for God is humbling. Yet I suspect that there is always a certain amount of pride associated with this that the believer struggles with. Might I suggest that those who you perceive as being called into ministry be brought before the church for examination and let the church confirm their appointment? Jesus warns us about being "blind guides." Lk 6:39 Blessings, mommapbs |

170 | Cristians are a no show in Culture War | Luke 17:3 | Mommapbs | 120836
Greetings Pete2 - You asked: "Why Christians do not participate in the culture war?" My answer is simple - lack of obedience to the cultural mandate given in Gen 1:28. Christians have retreated into coccons, most I suspect because they do not want to be "corrupted" by the world. Yet in doing so, they have removed their influence from society. Our charge to "subdue the earth" - which IMO means to bring all creation under the dominion of God. Man is to glorify God in all that He has created. Yet we ignore His design and order for our lives by choosing to glorify autonomous man. I suspect many Christians are ignorant of the "war" that they are in. The battleground is fought in the mind. (Romans 12:1-2)The "worldview" that one embraces will ultimately be reflected in our choices. (Prov 23:7) Sadly, Christians have perhaps not taken God's commands to heart, and some may not truly believe all that God has said, notably "Greater is HE who is in you than he who is in the world." (1John 4:4) Off my soapbox for now. mommapbs |

172 | Is Hab 3:3 talking about mohammad? | Hab 3:3 | Mommapbs | 120757
Greetings eyeneedanswers and welcome to the Forum! God's Word speaks about God - Mohammed was just a man. From post 99791 Habakkuk 3:3 "God comes from Teman, and the Holy One from Mount Paran. His splendor covers the heavens, and the earth is full of His praise." [NASB] Here is a bit of commentary on this verse: "3:3 God comes. When celebrating the exodus, the OT poets (and poet-prophets) combined recollections of the mighty acts of God with conventional images of a fearsome manifestation of the Lord. He came down with His heavenly host and rode on the mighty thunderstorm as His chariot, with His arrows flying in all directions, a cloudburst of rain descending on the earth and the mountains quaking before Him (see Deut. 33:2; Judg. 5:4-5; Ps. 18:7-15; 68:4-10, 32-35; 77:16-19; Mic. 1:3-4). Such figures characterize many of the references in the following verses. Teman. Means "southland." God is pictured as coming from the area south of Judah during the exodus." (1) "3:3 Teman is a poetic reference to God's appearance at Sinai (see Deut. 33:2). .." (2) "3:3 Teman ... Mount Paran. Teman, named after a grandson of Esau, was an Edomite city (Amos 1:12; Obadiah 9). Mount Paran was located in the Sinai peninsula. Both allude to the theater in which God displayed great power when He brought Israel into the land of Canaan (cf. Deut. 33:2; Judg. 5:4)." 174 | HELP--Real Life Question About Sin- | Matt 12:31 | Mommapbs | 120750
Greetings! The following is taken from an excellent post by Makarios #6751: 1 John 2:2 states that He (Jesus) is the propitiation for not only the sins of the people of whom John was writing to, but also for those (sins) of the whole world. In my line of thinking, this verse makes it clear that Jesus died for the sins of the whole world on the cross. Ryrie's NASB Expanded Study Bible comments concerning this verse, "propitiation equals satisfaction. Christ is the only offering that satisfied God concerning sin (cf. Romans 3:25). Christ died for the sins of the whole world, the entire human race." In Zondervan's NASB Study Bible, 1 John 2:2's commentary reads as follows: "Forgiveness through Christ's atoning sacrifice is not limited to one particular group only; it has worldwide application (see John 1:29). It must, however, be received by faith (see John 3:16). Thus this verse does not teach universalism (that all people ultimately will be saved), but that God is an impartial God."Nelson's NKJV Study Bible comments concerning 1 John 2:2, "The sacrifice of Jesus' sinless life is so effective that it can supply forgiveness for the whole world (see 2 Cor. 5:14,15,19; Heb. 2:9). Christ's death is sufficient for all, but efficient only for those who believe in Christ. Not everyone will be saved, but Jesus offers salvation to all (see Rev. 22:17)." REAL HELP for REAL LIFE - please, after reading the posts I have sent you on propitiation and the "unforgivable sin" - which in my opinion, is impossible for a child of God to commit, I must ask you, for which sins did Jesus NOT die? For which sins that you have listed is Jesus' blood not sufficient? Which of these sins is not covered by the blood of Christ? Which of these sins has not been forgiven? Read 2 Cor 6:14. Forgiveness for SIN is ours on the basis of what God has done for us IN CHRIST. If this man is IN CHRIST, he is completely forgiven BY GOD for ALL his sin - past, present and future, as are ALL who are IN CHRIST. This is not a counselling service but a Bible study forum where we seek to understand God's Word and apply it to our lives. Dear sister, seek out the counsel of your Pastor or elder in the Lord who knows your situation and is familiar with both of you. I'm glad you are seeking the Lord's will in this important decision. Blessings, mommapbs |

175 | But I say, Have they not learned? | Prov 1:29 | Mommapbs | 120749
See this post by Makarios 106095 - we will all give an account of ourselves to the Lord. Indeed, Christ is Lord of the living and the dead(Romans 14:9). Yes, it is God's will that none perish and all come to repentance, (2 Peter 3:9) yet as God also gave man the freedom to choose the knowledge of God or not, we too join Jesus as He weeps for those who "would not." Lk 13:34 We, as ministers one to another have the HEALER, but apart from Him we cannot heal. Apart from Him, we cannot even "help." (John 15:5) But as the Lord gives you opportunity, continue to do as you did today, be there to help. May the Lord open your heart to understand HIS heart; His love and compassion for those who reject Him; may you share a portion of His grief; may you be given a fresh insight into the Grace and Mercy that you have received. Blessings, mommapbs |

178 | Might it be fear? | Prov 1:29 | Mommapbs | 120724
Greetings! And what causes us to fear? - that we are somehow unworthy - naked - what are we trying to "cover up?" How about negative pride? In our heart of hearts we must come to that point of brokenness, the realization that we are "uncovered." We recognize the Fall of man within ourselves and this fear of discovery prompts us to do what is "wise in our own eyes." Instead of going to God and seeking His mercy and righteousness, we use fig leaves (self effort) to "justify" ourselves. Yes, fear is a great motivator to "cover-up." But WHAT needs to be covered? Praise God for the shed blood of Jesus which covers ALL my sin! This alone makes me worthy and frees me from fear! Perfect love, God's love, cast out fear. Sadly, pride keeps many believers captive to fear; they have not fully appreciated the love of God in Christ (Romans 5:8) Blessings on your day, mommapbs |

179 | Do you understand it? | Prov 1:29 | Mommapbs | 120717
Greetings - Why do folks refuse help falling? In a word, pride. I suspect that pride is at the root of even our "doings" for the Lord. This is what I call the "sin of obedience." When we are motivated by pride (positive or negative), we often become deaf and blind to the condemnation of our heart, the Word of God and the prompting of the Holy Spirit. To refuse help when one is falling is just a symptom of a greater problem. See Luke 18:9-14. Blessings, mommapbs |
