221 | Moses was afraid.... | Ex 3:4 | Mommapbs | 111692
Greetings! If Moses was afraid, would he have gone to investigate the burning bush? Would he have answered when God called? Perhaps he was more afraid of NOT answering. We would do well to learn from his example. mommapbs |

222 | Is privately spoken tongues in Bible? | 1 Cor 12:11 | Mommapbs | 111691
1 Cor 14:18,23 If Paul spoke in tongues more than others, why is there no other reference to the expression of his gift? Might it be because he exercized this gift in private? The second reference suggests the confusion that can result when tongues are exercized in a corporate manner, so might we conclude that those with this gift are being counseled to exercize it in private? Just some thoughts. mommapbs PS: The purpose of the gifts is to edify the Church - must the edification be corporate or can it also be for the individual member? 1 Cor 14:5 |

Forwarded from Emmaus abbey, the book of Esther is pretty short. I recommend readin it. Even shorter is the introduction at the link below which covers the essential points from which question might be drwn or answered. http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/bible/esther/intro.htm Emmaus |

224 | LESSONS FROM ESTHER AND MODECAIAH | Esth 4:14 | Mommapbs | 110708
Greetings abbey4sure! I'm not sure what you are after, but the theme of Esther is usually noted as "For such a time as this." Meaning that Esther was God's timely provision to save His people. God has a plan and a purpose for your life too! Also of interest is that God is not mentioned in this Book of the Bible. Blessings, mommapbs |

225 | Why do I have to Hate? | Luke 14:26 | Mommapbs | 110594
Abide in Him writes: "All humans, including our mothers and fathers, are human and will fail when the standard is perfection. They will fail just as we fail. There will be times when we must stand with Christ on certain issues, ethics and principles which our parents may not embrace. If our parents are caught in spiritual trespass, we may have to choose between them and the Lord. If so, we must stand with the Lord .. for their sakes so they may love Him with all their heart and soul and might as well. Obedience to the Lord brings complete happiness. Proverbs 3: 1-6 "My son, do not forget my teaching, But let your heart keep my commandments; For length of days and years of life And peace they will add to you." roverbs 8:36 "But he who sins against me injures himself; All those who hate me love death." Note: Never, never forget to honor your parents, whatever happens." Mommapbs writes: The second part of your question: Is a disciple a student? Yes, but a student is not always a disciple. Jesus taught all, but not everyone followed Him. (The Pharisees come to mind . . . they thought they knew it all, they did not recognize their need for Jesus, not just His teaching!) How about you? Where are you in your relationship with God? Are you interesting in just learning what He has to say . . . are you interested in following Him? Blessings, mommapbs |

226 | Are we reclining with Him, in love? | Matt 26:18 | Mommapbs | 110556
Greetings Ray, the very real Jesus, God of eternity, reclining WITH us - the picture is amazing, that He would desire to be made like His brethren . . . (Heb 2:17) And yet the question remains, do we desire to be made like Him? Stong stuff to think about! mommapbs |

228 | Fish that live in the Death Sea. | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 110434
Greetings and welcome to the Forum. In the Bible, this sea is called the "Salt Sea" - you can input salt sea into the "Get Bible Text" field and see the references. Using a search engine you can find other information about this body of water. Its salinity is so high that no fish can live in it. They enter the sea from rivers and die in the shoals. I liked the references on www.keyway.ca - use their site search and input salt sea. Blessings, mommapbs |

229 | Age restrictions | Amos 3:3 | Mommapbs | 110409
Hi reloti! There is nothing in the Bible that speaks of age restrictions that I am aware of, yet I would suggest that at this point in time, according to Amos 3:3 the age difference does matter. If we define sinful as anything that is contrary to God's will, this MAY fall into that category. I'm not going to go out on a legalistic limb here though. A young man of 24 and a young woman of 28 have MUCH MORE in common than a young woman at 18 and a boy of 14. You will have more fun being with people who are experiencing the same things that you are. At 18 you are probably getting ready to leave High School and think about college or a career field. A boy of 14 has several years of schooling left to complete and all that accompany the high school experience. My suggestion is to put this relationship on hold for about 10 years. If it is meant to be, it will be. I am glad to see that you are interested in honoring what God's Word has to say! I hope that you will evaluate every decision in this way first. May God bless your life, Mommapbs |

230 | How many wives did Abraham have? | Gen 25:1 | Mommapbs | 110374
Greetings and welcome to the Forum. Abraham had 2 wives as recorded in Scripture, Sarai and Keturah (see Gen 11:29). More significant is Gen 25:5 - Although Abraham had several children, he gave all he had to Isaac - the son of the Promise. (What might this mean for us as Children of God?) mommapbs |

231 | Memories? | Luke 9:62 | Mommapbs | 110284
Greetings! So glad to see you posting again! I believe that memories are good. In fact, they become stronger with frequent use! When we recall all the good things of the Lord, we praise Him; when we remember our failings and His grace and mercy, we praise Him! BUT, I don't think that this particular passage is related to remembering. It seems to me to be reflective of a divided heart. No one can serve two masters! See Gen 19:26. Blessings to you and yours! t |

233 | how many questions did god ask job | Job | Mommapbs | 110249
Greetings and welcome to the Forum. The fact the God questioned Job is a sober reminder that we will all have to give and account before Him. Romans 14:12 I don't mean any disrespect, but this is a Bible Study Forum, not a trivial pursuit game service! YOU can read through the book of Job and find the number of questions God asked of Job for yourself. On a more serious note, why does the number of questions interest you? Blessings, mommapbs |

234 | Question from a newbie | Luke 14:26 | Mommapbs | 110226
Greetings 38 Lulu and welcome to the Forum! The Scrpture I am referencing is a difficult one to understand, but I do believe it relates to what you are questioning. Here is a post I wrote concerning it: To understand this passage you must take the emotion out of the word hate. This would be a contradiction of His command to love one another! What Christ is calling for here is complete surrender. "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth." Mt 6:24 Luke 18:18-23 is an illustration of this principle. The ruler chose his wealth (which is anything that takes the rightful place of God in our lives, "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me" !) Jesus tells us to love one another, but HE wants to be first place in our lives. Remember what the greatest commandment is? See Mt 22:36-40. When we love Him with all of our being, the love for others will be a reflection of His love though us! The circle of God's love is complete when we accept God's love, love Him back and love others. A Christ follower is a disciple, but not all disciples are Christ followers. Mt 7:13-29 Now, my counsel to you is this: be obedient to Jesus and follow Him! Everyone will one day have to give an account of their choices, including your folks. Sometimes, people try to make excuses for not following Jesus - and it's real easy when they consider the walks of other "Christians." But, we are not to be focused on them! God's Word tells us to fix your eyes upon Jesus, the Author and finisher of our faith (Heb 12:2). Also as an encouragment to you, "Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe." 1 Tim 4:12 Blessings, mommapbs |

Acts 7:48 - the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands Greetings Ray, from the following verses I believe that the Word Solomon asked to be confirmed is Christ. What do you think? 236 | Please indicate if sequence is correct | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 110119
Greetings Emmy and welcome to the Forum. When you post a question, what is the purpose, to find an answer or to dialog? If it is the former, search the archives first. Use the QUick Search field or look at the Scripture reference and see if there is a GREEN N next to the verse. If so, others have posted something on this - read it. If you want dialog, you can express your position and ask for comments. Lastly, you can post a note that is attached to a Scripture. The question(s) you have posted are LONG and will take a great deal of time to answer completely. It would be better to just break things like this down into managable pieces so that we don't get overwhelmed. End time events and chronology is a subject that might prompt more division than unity, so I caution you in advance as this is a diverse group and not everyone subscribes to the same end-time theology. 237 | clarify wealth statement | Matt 25:29 | Mommapbs | 110116
Greetings and welcome to the Forum. I was just reflecting upon the parable of the talents and although most would receive this as a message on financial stewardship, I believe it has to do with the greatest Treasure of all - Jesus Christ. You see, God gave Jesus for everyone. Each of us has the capacity for faith. What we do with Jesus determines our destiny, just as shown in this parable. The one who did nothing with Him, lost everything. Since material wealth is temporary, why would the Eternal Lord use this kind of measure? I suspect that the reason Jesus used the "talent" as an object lesson was for His hearers to understand value and apply it to God's standard of true "riches". Another passage to see: "Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you? Luke 16:11 Blessisngs, mommapbs |

238 | what is exceptable sexually in mairrage | Heb 13:4 | Mommapbs | 110056
Greetings - it is my opinion that the marriage bed is to be a reflection of the mutually submissive union between a husband and wife. From this verse, sex outside of that union is what "defiles." If one partner objects to a sexual practice, then the other should be willing to honor that. 239 | how do i overcome my negative feelings. | Rom 12:2 | Mommapbs | 110023
Greetings! Replace your negative feelings with the promises found in God's Word - this is "renewing the mind" - we must change the way we think first. You recognize negative feelings, good, now you can start to replace those negative feelings with positive truths from God's Word. Read through the Psalms and rephrase what you read back to God ALOUD. I think it is important to hear your own voice. As you noted in Isa, the Lord will remove the yoke, but He also wants to replace it with His own! Mt 11:30. So when you find yourself wearing the wrong yoke, exchange it! mommapbs |
