143 | Finding Mentoring Relationships? | Acts 18:26 | Jensen | 21209
Dear ONERICHWOMAN....Other mentoring relationships may be found between older and younger women, and also between women and children. Titus 2:3-5 "Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God." Prov 22:6 "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." I can not offer advice on your concordance search but you may want to invest in a Topical Analysis of the Bible. Mine is by Elwell and is published by Baker. God Bless....Jensen |

145 | What was/is a temple prostitute? | Gen 38:21 | Jensen | 21207
Dear Family in Christ...... What was a "temple prostitute" of GE 38:21, or "cult prostitute" of DT 23:17. (The NIV uses "shrine prostitue" for these verses.) What was it that these men and women did that was different, or unique in some way, from other prostitutes of their time. Any Scriptural description? God Bless....Jensen |

146 | how do you define faith? | Rom 3:3 | Jensen | 20966
Dear Mensa..Welcome to the Forum :-)... Faith has a twofold meaning in the Bible. (1) "trust," "reliance" (Rom 3:3), and (2) "fidelity," "trustworthiness." Unbelief, or the lack of faith in the Christian gospel appears everywhere in the New Testament as the supreme evil. Not to make a decisice response to God's offer in Christ means that the individual remains in sin and is eternally lost. Faith alone can save him. God Bless....Jensen |

147 | What does satan want? | Eph 6:11 | Jensen | 20964
Dear Casiv... Satan lives in heavenly places. Eph 6:11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. These verses also speak of the powers of this dark world. Plural. Satan was the model of perfection (Ezek 28:12) but is now fallen (Isa 14:12) and has limited access to God (Job 1:6). Satan's purpose and work is to oppose God (John 14:30, Acts 13:10, Acts 26:17,Rom 16:20, 2Cor 6:15, 1 John 3:7) and Satan"s intends to ruin believers (Luke 22:13, Rev 12:17, 1 John 5:18) and to establish his own kingdom (Isa 14:13, Matt 12:25, Luke 4:5, Luke 11:18). He does all this by accusing (Job 1:60), by afflictions (Luke 13:16), by deception (Gen 3:1, John 8:44), by hindering (1 Thess 2:18) and by perverting (Acts 13:10). He also schemes( 1 Tim 3:7) and stalks (1 Pet 5:8). He steals (Luke 8:12), tempts (Matt 6:13, Mark 1:12, Luke 4:1) and now Satan stands condemned (John 16:11). I hope this helps you. Just some straightforward Scripture, no smoke and mirrors :-) God Bless....Jensen |

148 | Contrary View........ | Gen 2:2 | Jensen | 20757
You wrote concering Gen 2:4..... "This verse would have been a better verse at which to start chapter two." GE 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. .....is an introductory sentence and a beautiful transitional verse. In my opinion, it summarizes the foundation set in Chapter 1. I agree that there are questionable chapter breaks in the Bible, from a literary point of view, but this is not one of them. The question "Doesn't chapter 2 tell of a different creation order than told in Chapter 1" is asked due to a misunderstanding of the focus of the individual chapters. One being on the succesive creation events, and the other on man's place in the creation. God Bless....Jensen |

149 | Does Lstrong believe God created evil? | Gen 3:1 | Jensen | 20748
You ask... “how would it be contrary to the goodness of God for God to have created Satan evil.” You ask a question in the negative. But you can not prove a negative. Please tell me that you do not believe God created evil and I will go away :-) I may just have a misunderstanding of what you are saying. The way you ask the question can not be answered no. So,...it is no question at all. I have done everything possible for a man of my limited affiliation with Christianity to get an answer to a simple, very simple, question. Please, enough of the semantics. Please speak plainly. Be Bold, Be Strong, Be Straightforward, and be equiped to defend your belief. Do you, or do you not believe that God created evil (in the form of Satan)? God Bless....Jensen |

150 | Per 2Thes 2:3 isn't the rapture postrib? | 2 Thess 2:3 | Jensen | 20637
Dear Glen..Welcome to the Forum :)..... Here is a translation from the NIV that may help... 2TH 2:1 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come. 3 Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. ....I do not take any position on the tribulation debate. I have not studied the issue at all, but the passage does seem to refer to the same event. God Bless....Jensen |

151 | Did Jesus have to die? | NT general Archive 1 | Jensen | 20636
Dear REVbuf...These verses would seem to indicate so... RO 5:9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! 10 For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. ....unless you need something else. Like... Heb 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. or maybe.... Heb 9:28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. ....there may be more. God Bless....Jensen |

154 | What was the lords instructions | Exodus | Jensen | 20582
"EX 12:1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, 2 "This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. 3 Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. 4 If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. 5 The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. 6 Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the people of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. 7 Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. 8 That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast. 9 Do not eat the meat raw or cooked in water, but roast it over the fire--head, legs and inner parts. 10 Do not leave any of it till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it. 11 This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the LORD's Passover." Are you in need of a Bible. Please let me know for I will send you one. |

155 | What did moses say and Pharaoh's answer? | Exodus | Jensen | 20580
EX 5:1 Afterward Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: "Let my people go, so that they may hold a festival to me in the desert.' " EX 5:2 Pharaoh said, "Who is the LORD, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD and I will not let Israel go." Are you misleading anyone to think that you have studied this Book, and did your homework. Sounds like it but I hope that I am wrong :) |

Dear Ruth30..Welcome to the Forum:-) You wrote, "which apostle did jesus say was an israekite without god???", but the word "israekite" is not found in the Bible. Second, are you certain that Jesus was speaking of an Apostle being "with out god"? If you will provide a little better information the Forum will be better able to answer your question. 160 | Enter the Dragon! | Gen 3:1 | Jensen | 20521
Dear Lionstrong...Now to part two of your closing thoughts. You wrote... "...but it would not be contrary to the goodness of God if he had created Satan evil." By writing "..if he had created Satan evil." you have acknowledged that there is no proof that can be offered. For IF is a very big word. God did not create evil according to all the evidence in the Bible. So what now. We probably should not go outside the Bible to explore this point. We both agree that the Bible is true and just about the only written work that can be fully trusted by us both. So when we look for proof of what you postulate we find none. I will deny myself the opportunity to give examples of IF. So the question becomes, by defaut, was Satan created good. What proof do we have? You wrote that you did not buy the interpretation of EZK 28:15-17. You will also have to deny this... ISA 14:12 How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! (And why did he fall from heaven? Was it because of something he chose to do, or something he was programed to do?) ISA 14:13 You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. ISA 14:14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High." Lionstrong you already know this. Satan wanted to put himself at the center of the universe, denying the need for his Maker. Adam tried it too! "You will not surly die." says the father of lies. Men today like to do the same thing. But we do not know more than He wrote to us, either in His word or on our hearts. His Word does not prove your point, that leaves your heart. God Bless....Jensen |
