121 | Is speaking in tongues a necessity ? | Acts 2:4 | tgc | 122093
Hank, Yes many of us are comfortable with our illusions however many people are mislead by all of the garbage that has slipped into our churches. With the Word Faith crowd having gained such a huge following and their ability through the TBN network to raise millions of dollars to spread their lies we must be ever viligant to be ready to give a reason for the hope that lies within us with gentleness and respect. To that end try to keep an open line of communication with people who have been hooked by the lies of false teaching and be ready to share the Truth of Christ with them at every opportunity. Another point of interest along this line is that many people re taken in by this type teaching because they do not really understand the doctrin of grace. They are still trying to earn their way into Heaven. Finally today people have always been seaking an experience something different something big there fore they are especially looking for this in the church and in some of these movements they are easily able to find it. Even if it is not real. Scripture tells us that in the last days people will not put up with sound teaching but they will heap up for themselves teachers to scratch their itching ears. In plain lanuage people for the most are going to go where they can hear what they want to hear. And you know and I know that the Gospel is offensive by it's very nature. Always remember that the greatest spiritual gift is love so let us go foward in love sharing the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to all who have ears to hear. In The Love of Christ, tgc |

122 | Salvation by compulsion-Romans 5 | Rom 5:1 | tgc | 121917
formereveything, good evening, I really think Tim Moran and Angel summed things up nicely but let me add that when God created man He created Him to live forever. Because we choose sin death came into this world. But that does not change the fact God created us to always exist from the point of our conception foward. Therefore salvation would be the wrong term for what you are refering to I think the word you are looking for is ressurection. And yes all will be resurrected in that we have no option. What we do have an option in is will it be resurrected to glory with Christ or eternal damnation.Salvation is not manatory salvation comes when you surrender to Christ as Lord of your life in a state of repentence. Salvation is an excercise of our free will respnding with the faith God has given is to the Gospel. Resurrection is a fact we cannot avoid. Hope this helps. In The Love of Christ, tgc |

123 | Romans 5 What is Paul saying | Rom 5:13 | tgc | 141366
Hi guys I know i have been away for awhile but have been very busyboth with school and church. It seems I have come to a difficult point in my studies and could really use some input, my question comes from Romans chapter 5: 12-14. Does this passage indicate that God did not hold people accountable for their sin in the time between Adam and Moses? I realize that the law had not been given but could not the arguement be made for natural law and the possibleity that the sacfrical system was introduced in the Garden of Eden when God Himself made the first animal sacfrice to cover the sin of Adam and Eve, and did not Job make sacfrices to God to cover the sin of himself and his family, as well as God telling Noah to take animals on the arch with him so that he could oofer sacfrice? So did God hold people accountable for their sin during this time? What exactly is Paul saying in this passage? Thanks in advance for your help. In The Love Of Christ, tgc

126 | Praying in tongues | Rom 8:26 | tgc | 121812
Greetings 8788, Please keep in prospective that prayer is all about us building a relationship with the Creator God of the universe. Remember God already knows what your going to ask before you ask. Do not be so concerned with tongues for they will pass away if they have not already. I belive tongues is a known lanuage one is giving the ability to speak through the power of the Holy Spirit. As far as having time for prayer take Paul's advice and pray without ceasing. This means an attitude of prayer. Remember prayer should contain worship praise intercession and any request you have to make. I hope this has helped you. Focus first on Christ and building that relationship He wants with you. 127 | Holy Spirit leaving the earth? | 1 Cor 6:19 | tgc | 120564
Kecia, In answering your question, I believe we should look at 1Thessalonians 4:13 through 5:11: "4:13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive [and] remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. 5:1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. 2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 3 For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others [do,] but let us watch and be sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. 8 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and [as] a helmet the hope of salvation. 9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. 11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing." NewKingJamesVersion Throught the rest of this letter, Paul wraps things up in his conclusion. However, immediately as he starts his second letter ( 2Thess), Paul picks up right away with God's final judgement, God's glory and the great apostasy, or falling away. This leads us to to 2Thess. 2:7; "For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains [will do so] until He is taken out of the way." NKJV This verse falls within a long discussion of the end time and what will happen. That is why I felt it is important to set this context. The "He" in this verse is clearly the Holy Spirit and it is my belief that at this time in history the rapture of the Church marks the end of the Holy Spirit's work on earth; and that those who come to Christ thereafter will be in the same situation as the Old Testament believers in that they will not have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We see the Holy Spirit's everyday work begin at Pentecost and end with the rapture of the Church. I don't mean that the Old Testament beleivers were never indwelled by the Holy Spirit, they were. But these were exceptions to the general rule. And those indwellings were for limited periods of time and for a specific purpose. Samson is just one example. His strength would come when the Spiriut of God fell on him. Yes, the Holy Spirit will leave this earth when Christ raptures His Church. At that time, the age of grace when end and the the tribulation period will begin. Evil will run rampant, good will be called bad, bad will be called good. Persons responded to the Gospel message will be without the indwelling Holy Spirit and many will pay for their belief with their lives. When the hour is darkest and things look like they cannot be any worse, Christ Himself will return aas the Lion of Judah, bringing His Church with Him to destroy all evil and set up His Kingdom. 128 | Give me a little mor help on the hair ? | 1 Cor 11:1 | tgc | 123866
broreggie, The answer provided by signmanbob appears to be a very good one. The key to this passage lays in the last verse of 1 Cor. 11. Verse 16 sats " But if anyone seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor do the churchs of God. " Long hair or short hair it really does not matter. Christ was not thinking about hair as He hung on the cross, He was paying our sin debt and as long as we come to Christ on His terms He could care less how our hair is styled. With this said the points made in signmanbob's post about appriate dress at church is right on. If for no other reason than respect for Christ. My answer is not intended to be harsh but so many people get tied up on this passage without considering the last verse of the chapter which really sums it up. I hope this helps. 130 | Acts of persecution why was recount this | Gal 1:13 | tgc | 124115
Tan Flipper, To find the answer to this you have to back up to the begining of the chapter and look at what Paul is addressing. In this letter Paul is adressing there are people who have come into the church of the Galatians preaching a return to the law rather than grace a well as questioning Paul's authority as an aposel. So what Paul is doing is reasserting the doctrin of grace and his apostleship. He is laying the foundation for the teachings to come in this letter. I would encourage an indepth study of this book for it really brings light to living the Christan Life in the grace of our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ. Hope this helps. 131 | God is one | Gal 4:4 | tgc | 121708
ucmenew, Thank about the sitting God is in when He is making this statement. Who is He talking to? By using the plural He is already starting to reveal the Trinity. Another example of this occurs in Gen. 1-1 where the word for God is Elohim which is in thr plural form of theoriginal lanuage. However plural here denotes three or more for in the original lanuage there is singular, dual and plural forms of words. It is amazing howgreat of God we serve and how much He loves us and wants us to know that He starts from verse 1 to revile Himself to us. However I would have to respectfully disagree with the Mary part of some of the previous answers. When God speaks of His image He is talking about those attributes of God that all of us have. There are four of these the soul, the emotions, the free will or ability to choose and a soul. This passage is intended to open up the teaching of the Trinity and to reveal the fact we are created in God's image. In Christ Love, tgc |

137 | How do overcome your fear? | Phil 4:6 | tgc | 128021
Godchaser1, You have been given some excellent answers thus far, but let me add this. The command fear not is given well over 100 times within scripture. For something to be repeated this many times God has to feel that it is a very important topic and wishes to give us His assurence. As has already been said we over come fear by beliving God that is taking God at His word. You see that is the foundation of the whole Christan faith that we belive God. We belive Him for our salvation and base our eternal destiny on this belief. So why don't we belive Him for His guidence through this life. You see overcoming fear has nothing to do with positively confessing scripture or anything elese it is all about getting into God's living Word and having a close personal relationship with Him so that through HIm and His Holy Spirit we can believe His word and through that overcome this world and all it throws at us. In short our whole relationship and fellowship with Christ is based on us taking Him at His word. As DBR has said perfect love cast out all fear and God has that perfect love for us just look to the cross for the evidence He kept His word then and will now we just have to learn to belive it. Hope this helps. In The Love Of Christ, tgc |

138 | What is the apostacy? | 2 Thess 2:3 | tgc | 121498
hello Rowdy, I hope thiswill be of some help in Jude verse 5 apostates are equatedto those who came out Egypt butstill did not believe in God. In verses 7-8 Jude speaks tothe issue of homosexuality as being apostate as waell a those who reject authority and speak evil of dignitaries. In verse 16 he addresses grumblers complainers and those walking after their own lust as being apostate. Now if we take the context of the whole book concerns these people inside the church. Hope this is what you arelooking for . your friend in Christ, tgc |

139 | Does one wife equal first and last wife? | 1 Tim 3:2 | tgc | 124117
bluemystic338, Where you a Christan when these events took place or did you come to faith after the fact? I fully belive the answer to your question is dependent on the answer to this question. If you where saved when you married and knew your wife was an unbeliver then you vilolated God Word by marring her however if you came to faith after the marriage and she refused the faith and left the marriage and you have done all that you can to reconcile the marriage and she refuses then you are free to go on with your life. As to can you be a preacher that is between you and God. I will give you the advice an old pastor gave me when I was wrestleing with my call to the ministry if you can do anything elese and have peace with God do not preach, but if you try and continues to convict your heart look for confirmation of your call once you have go foward. Hope this helps. In The Love Of Christ, tgc
