This week in New York -- despite the warning received ten months ago on September 11, 2001 -- the United States came into one accord with the United Nations, the European Union and Russia in setting the stage for Israel to concede covenant land which was promised to her by God. Not only did Secretary of State Colin Powell effectively REVERSE President Bush's implied withdraw from endorsing a Palestinian State "until a change of Palestinian leadership" takes place, but on July 19 President Bush sealed the matter by reconfirming his commitment to establishing a Palestinian State WITHIN THREE YEARS. The spiritual covering over the United States was significantly weakened during the peace process in New York. America has now chosen her path, and this path will ultimately require a response from God. Unless America changes her present course, one can easily foresee severe natural disasters in the coming months... economic tensions, unprecedented earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other judgments as God lifts his hand of angelic covering from the United States of America. And what takes up the time of the Christians? Foolish debates on who God will use in these last hours. Just look at the volume of postings on such foolishness. Not to the saving of souls but to the puffed up minds filled with opinions. If God wants to use another dumb donkey to same my lost loved ones, I say so be it! Yes even a women would be fine with me if He so ordains it. The Pharisees could debate deep sayings but could not discern the signs of the times. Lets let God be God! If HE saves souls through a women, even if the PHARISEES say HE shouldn’t, who knows, that soul may be one of the two witnesses of the end times. No man comes to the Father except that the Spirit Draw, so if a women preaches and God saves, HALLELUJAH! A women is still the better choice than having to wait till the Rocks cry out. I have many lost loved ones that I really care less how or who God uses to save them. Time is running out, let your righteous energies be used for the Kingdom of God to the saving of souls , His heartbeat. He will take care of the women who get out of their place. Sad to say though, God may very well be calling women to pick up the slack for too many men that have ran from the call for many years. Who is the Blessed of God... the one called or the one that obeys the call? |

Does restriction apply for the man in these verses as being qualified or disqualified for leadership?1 Tim. 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 1 Tim. 3:12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. Titus 1:6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. |

To weezach - I fully agree with you. The history of the church shows that the narrower view toward remarriage and divorce within the church was taken by the true church. There have always been the more liberal views taken by the more liberal churches. However, some today say and teach that we have come into a more mature understanding of the scriptures and now therefore see that remarriage is not prohibited. If that be true, would it not also seem evident that we should have stronger churches that see God’s power manifested as did the earlier churches? Christ promised answered prayer if we lived according to His Word... John 15:6-7 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. [7] If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. One does not have to be a rocket scientist to see that the Church of today lacks the testimony of seeing prayers answered in a way that would get the attention of the sinners- to the salvation of souls - Which I must say is the reason Christ came in the first place - to seek and to save the lost - but the church of today is more concerned with material prosperity than to see the power of God manifested in such glory that sinners will fall prostrate before the HOLY ALMIGHTY GOD repenting of their sins. Also if the modern view is from God would not families be stronger but again does one need a masters to see that families of today are in a miserable mess! |

Since Paul was the writer of both the passage in question as well as this on... 1 Tim. 5:9 Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man, 10 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work. Why did Paul say so clearly what was meant for the widow? having been the wife of one man. Yet when it came to naming the qualifications for the leadership of the church he all of sudden is short on words. I find it hard to believe that he would not have said, “being the husband of one women at a time”, if indeed that was what he really meant. Adultery was the warning here... not polygamy. Where in Scripture does Paul spend energy writing to the Church concerning “multiple wives”... polygamy? But many times he touched on the problem of unfaithfulness and immorality. The word of God is clear to the pure in heart. But when we do not like what we are reading, or are not comfortable with it for our lives, it is tempting to wrestle the Scriptures to fit our situation rather that change our situation to fit the scriptures. It still remains true that at a village smith shop, many hammers have been worn out but the anvil still stands. 2 Peter 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. |

To David1959 - The Church is to be the manifestation of Christ to the lost World... a light shining out into darkness. When that light is dark... how great is that darkness. To serve a deacon is to be an example set forth to all that follow. Paul did not stipulate as to the reason for the divorce... only that a deacon be the husband of one wife. Liberal views water this down to say... one at a time. However... Christ was not referring to one at a time when He rebuked the Pharisees. Matthew 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Christ was clearly speaking about one man one women... till death parted them. Paul referred to the same principle in - Romans 7:2-3 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. [3] So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man. 1 Cor. 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. We are to be concerned with how the church is manifested to the Lost world... not about our own desires and positions... would it not be far better for one to serve as a door keeper in the house of the Lord rather than to cause confusion or distain to come upon the Church? To excuse ourselves by saying... it happened before I was saved. O the weight upon parents to train children up in the way they ought to go. Sin leaves scars and consequences. This “disqualification” from being an elder/deacon... is only one of those consequences. Grace forgives and cleanses but does not restore to the original state... ask the redeemed prostitute. Is this not the very reason that the women is symbolic of the Church! |

But the history of the forefathers give innumerable testimonies of great grace that withstood much more pain in their lives than what the average Christian of today is willing to undergo. Grace is for endowment of power, not merely a cover-up for my desires to be fulfilled Note the definition of Grace given by Strongs - charis - the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life This does not give me the way out of my trials but the way thru them. These passages are written to the saints, believers, not the world. Clearly Paul warns of the danger of apostasy. Scripture warn that no sin shall enter Heaven. The words Paul uses are enlightened which mean to “illuminate, to make to see” Same word used in Hebrews 10:32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; and in Ephes. 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, ENLIGHTENED - photizo, to shed rays, i.e. to shine or (transitive) to brighten up (literal or figurative) :- enlighten, illuminate, (bring to, give) light, make to see. TASTED - geuomai, to taste; by implication to eat; figurative to experience (good or ill) :- eat, taste. PARTAKERS - metochos, participant, i.e. (as noun) a sharer; by implication an associate :- fellow, partaker, partner. These point clearly to a person that is saved. Those that support Unconditional security excuse the truly backslid believer by saying “well they probably were never really saved in the beginning” These verses are talking about one who sees, experiences, and partakes of Christ and then forsakes that truth. In other words... they trample the blood of the Christ. Hebrews 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? TRAMPLE - katapateo, to trample down; figurative to reject with disdain :- trample, tread (down, underfoot). DESPITE - enubrizo, to insult :- do despite unto. A contrast to this is when men are blinded... John 12:39-40 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, [40] He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. The same word used for “tasted” is used in these following verses... and clearly refer to an experience. Matthew 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. Mark 9:1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. Luke 9:27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God. How can a soul that has died, be reposed? This is a direct quote from the Baltimore Cathechism... “Mass can be frequently offered for the repose of a soul. Every joint (believer) is to supply something to the body... to build up the body for the work of God. The body of Christ ministers to one another... we do not assemble for points toward our salvation or rewards in Heaven but to do the will of the Father... Let all things be done unto edifying. A Christian can not be an island... the fruit of the vine (Spirit) is produced in clusters. Anyone can be patient, kind, longsuffering, etc., when alone. But the true fruit of the Spirit is perfected in the assembling of ourselves together. For this very reason satan has strategically attacked the marriage unit. he knows that the smallest unit of the church body is the marriage... this is where he strives to weaken the body as a whole... weak couples, families make weak churches. Christ instituted the marriage as the symbol of Christ and the Church. The marriage is the hottest crucible of God... that produces the sweetest fruit for His glory. Is it a wonder that we see marriages attacked so today? |

This is one place the older members of the Church body can help out by ministering to the kids and allowing a chance for young parents to be in the Bible study and be strengthened. It is amazing how much my girls (now my grandchildren) enjoyed their Wednesday night classes. Strive to get your children involved in their own classes. There may be times when they will be dragging you! |
