NASB | Hebrews 10:25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 10:25 not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ's return] approaching. |
Bible Question:
What day are we COMMANDED to gather? I cannot find anywhere in the Bible where we are commanded to gather together. - The fourth commandment only says to keep the Sabbath day holy. It does not say to gather. - The in the NT sometimes they gathered on the Sabbath and other times on the first day of the week. I want Biblical support (I do not care what any man thinks) for your answer that it is a COMMAND. I believe it is just a tradition. Steve |
Bible Answer: When we have to be commanded to assemble together... the love of the brethren is missing. Assembling of the body together is not for me to be or not be righteous. 1 John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? We assemble for the sake of others... Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. We assemble for the aid and comforting of others 2 Cor. 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. to encourage others to stay faithful... Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching. When a selfish spirit is reigning... we only see why we ourselves benefit from the assembling together. Love thinks not of it’s self but of another’s welfare 1 Cor. 10:24 Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others. Galatians 6:2 Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 1 Cor. 13:5 Love is ... not self-seeking |
