121 | Justification for non-Christian Living?? | Gal 5:24 | prazn | 87443
Based upon my own experience, there are many Christians who do not understand the struggles of those who were not raised in the church. When a Christian has been in the world most of his or her life, the struggle between the spirit and the flesh is much more pronounced, even though we have the Holy Spirit living within us. The Christians that profess to be mature in the Lord seem to be the very ones who least exhibit the character and nature (i.e., spirit) of Christ. Christ told us not to judge. Christ told us to love our neighbors as ourselves. Yet, the supposedly mature believers, that I have encountered, are more unloving and intolerant than non-believers. It takes time for the Holy Spirit to conform us to the image of Christ. The very fact that there are no perfect Christians on this planet, as far as I know, is proof of that. God bless you! |

Hi EdB, Thanks for your comments. I'm wondering, who on earth, after having an encounter with our Risen Lord, and confessing they need Him to save them, would want to continue to live like a demon? If a follower of Christ wanted to live like a demon, they would never admit their need for Jesus in the first place, they could just keep on the path of destruction laid by the enemy; am I right?!? Concerning our Lord's admonition about judging others, check out the following words, which Jesus Himself spoke: Luke 6:37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned." Respectfully, prazn |

John, You know... you're right. There are probably lots of people who call themselves Christians (i.e., born again and bought by the Lamb) who really aren't (hence the reason for our Lord's parable about the "wheat" and the "tares"): Matt 13:24 Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. Matt 13:25 "But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away. Matt 13:26 "But when the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the tares became evident also. Matt 13:27 "The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?' Matt 13:28 "And he said to them, 'An enemy has done this!' The slaves *said to him, 'Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?' Matt 13:29 "But he *said, 'No; for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them. Matt 13:30 'Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn.""' Almighty God is the only One who knows who His children are. I think that, when we get to heaven, we'll be amazed at who ain't there and equally amazed by who is!!! God bless you! prazn |

124 | Justification for non-Christian Living?? | Gal 5:24 | prazn | 87493
By the way, Jesus Himself used the same "seeker sensitive programs" when He walked on this earth. Think of every encounter that He had with those seeking healing for their minds (e.g., the demoniac), for their bodies (e.g., the man at the pool of Bethesda), and for their emotions (e.g., the Samaritan woman at the well). He also ministered to those who simply wanted a free lunch (e.g., the feeding of the 5,000 and the 4,000). Jesus' message was not one of repentance (with the exception of the scribes and pharisees; who though religious refused to believe that Jesus was their Messiah). The Lord draws His people with lovingkindness to His cross. A person may join a church, initially, for the wrong reasons; but, Jesus makes Himself known to those whom He so chooses, as He chooses. So, the "seeker" may come in looking for child care on Sunday mornings, but given enough exposure to the spirit of the living God; and by the power of Almighty God, that same seeker will come to the realization that they are not their own...they were purchased by the blood of the Lamb. Oh happy day! "For God so loved the WORLD...", my friend. Not just Betty and Joe in Tulsa, OK. He loves the world (the muslims, the hindus, the budhists, the Catholics, the Protestants, the backsliders, and...dare I say it...SINNERS). It is not His will that ANY should perish! Peace! prazn |

125 | Justification for non-Christian Living?? | Gal 5:24 | prazn | 87500
Thanks for the correction, RM2! Your diligence in rightly dividing the Word is to be commended! What I am trying to say is that Jesus never wagged His finger in the face of anyone who had a need, and demand that they "repent" before He ministered to them. Did our Lord demand that the adulteress repent before showing her mercy? Did He call back the nine cleansed lepers, who didn't even bother to say "thanks", and demand that they "repent"? Did He refuse to feed the 5,000 until they repented? Our Lord says in Jer 31:3, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness." |

Hi EdB, Granted, there are some in the body of Christ who have been given the gift of discernment. My question is, what do we do with those "tares" that we find in our midsts? Shall we stone them? By the way, there are people in the body of Christ who claim to have the gift of discernment in order to legitimize their own wicked activities. Mercifully, the Lord did not grant me that gift of the spirit, so I am left to follow our Lord's example, instead. Though Jesus knew that Judas was "a devil", He still taught him along with the other disciples and even washed his feet. Heaven only knows how many "devils" the Lord blesses through our obedience to His will. Jesus did not come into the world, the first time, to judge anyone (John 3:17). However, when He returns it will be to judge (and the saints with Him) in complete fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah (see Isaiah 61). For now obedience to the Lord's command to "love your neighbors as yourself" is a daunting enough task, all by itself. But, glory to God, we don't have to do that in our own strength. love in Christ! prazn |

127 | Justification for non-Christian Living?? | Gal 5:24 | prazn | 87525
Hi Curtman, To expand upon John R.'s post, we cannot do anything that the Lord requires of us in our own strength; that's why we need the Savior. His power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Cor 12:9) and when we are weak, He is strong (2 Cor 12:10). But, we must confess our weakness to receive His strength. Rom 7:25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin. Blessings! prazn |

Hi EdB, Nope, you never said that Christians should take action against "tares". That's why I asked for your thoughts about what we should do with them once we've discovered who they are. I agree wholeheartedly with your conclusion that vengeance belongs to our Lord! Peace! prazn |

129 | How do I know my purpose in life | Eph 2:10 | prazn | 108838
You can know your purpose in life by asking the One who created you. Have you received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior? If you have, are you maintaining a close relationship with Him, through prayer, worship and Bible study? Yes, the Lord God of the heavens and earth created you for a specific purpose. Our primary purpose for living is to be reconciled to the Father through His Son (Jesus Christ). Then we must establish relationship with the Lord (i.e., get to know who He is), through prayer, worship and Bible study. The Lord has created specific "works" for each of us to do, which He reveals to each of us in His time. In short, if you want to know your purpose: (1) commit your life to the Lord Jesus Christ; (2) maintain a close relationship with Him; and (3) ask Him to reveal to you what "works" He created you for. God bless you! |

130 | salvation and sanctification | Eph 2:10 | prazn | 108843
Salvation occurs when we believe with our hearts, and confess with our mouths, that Jesus died to save us from our sins and was raised from the dead. The very moment that we confess our belief, that Jesus Christ is the only One who can save us from our sins, we are saved from the wrath of Almighty God and are made "right" (i.e., righteous) with Him. Sanctification is a process by which we are conformed, through the grace of God, into the image of our dear Savior. Through sanctification, sin loses its appeal to us and our desires transfer to those things that will draw us closer to our Savior. During sanctification, we find ourselves increasingly made able (by the power of God) to live a life of holiness before our God and before man. But, we must give up (i.e., mortify the deeds of the flesh) our sin nature so that the divine nature within us can be increasingly manifested for others to see. Putting off the "old man" (i.e., sin nature) is not always an easy thing to do; but, it is necessary so that the "new man" (i.e., the divine nature) may be revealed through us. Hope this helps!?! prazn |

131 | Can you be married without love? | Eph 5:22 | prazn | 87655
Our Lord has commanded us to love one another: 1 John 4:8 "The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love." 1 John 4:20 If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen." Oftentimes, that means loving the unloveable or people that we would rather not love. Not an easy thing to do! What is so wonderful about serving the Lord is that we don't have to love others in our own strength. Romans 5:5 says, "...the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us." A person who is married to someone, whom they do not love, should ask the Lord to let them see that individual the way that He does. Then ask the Lord to help him, or her, love their spouse as much as the Lord does. God is faithful! He will astound you by enabling you to love people that you never could have loved without His grace. Also, love is not just a feeling. Love is an action. We can demonstrate our love to others simply by serving them. We can serve them with a warm smile, a kind word or gesture, or by praying for them and with them. Christ is our ultimate example of what true love is: Rom 5:8 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." To love others, I must lay down my own self-interests and allow the love of God to flow through me to others. Blessings! prazn |

132 | Can you live with alcoholism? | Eph 5:22 | prazn | 87678
Jim, Has your spouse received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior? Perhaps, you should begin asking the Lord to save her? Have you been praying for her? Have you asked the Lord to strengthen you, as well? I have a brother-in-law who was an alcoholic, for years. He came from a long line of alcoholics. However, after he was born-again, he lost his desire for alcohol. It took several months for the DTs to cease, but, (glory to God!) he is alcohol-free today. "With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Matt 19:26 God bless you on your trip to Turkey! prazn |

133 | Can you live with alcoholism? | Eph 5:22 | prazn | 87680
Jim, Sorry! I got you mixed-up with John. I've been reading too many posts!! Also, I notice that you mentioned, in one of your posts, that your spouse is not a Christian. With that in mind, may I encourage you once again to pray for her, in earnest. Then share the "good news" of salvation with her, as the Lord leads. Do you go to church? If she does not go with you, perhaps you should ask her to join you. Get your clergy involved (that's why they're there). Sorry about the mix-ups, it's easy for me to get into a topic that seems "new" (because of the question), but is actually the continuation of a rather lengthy strand of posts about the same topic. God bless you and your wife! prazn |

134 | Pray for me | Eph 5:22 | prazn | 87803
Hi Jim, I am a bit concerned about your post. In it, you say that you "have asked the lord to bring her into the church". I pray that you've that you've been asking the Lord to save her soul, so that she may have an intimate relationship with Almighty God (i.e., not a religion). Do you have a personal and intimate relationship with the living God, Jim? God would not be silent with you concerning such a serious matter, assuming that you have a real relationship with him. Has He spoken to you about your wife, Jim? Either through His word or the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is our Counsellor (human counselors pale by comparison). John 16:13 "... the Spirit of truth, ...will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come." If you don't have an intimate relationship with our Lord, my friend, may I suggest that you call 1-888-NEEDHIM. In His Love, prazn |

135 | Why does Paul's imprisonment lessen fear | Phil 1:14 | prazn | 86328
Paul, as well as other believers, have less fear because we trust in our Lord. God is sovereign. He has promised, all who believe in Him, eternal life. Since we do not fear death, what else on this earth can we possibly fear. We know the Creator of the universe; what can man do to us? What's more, as Paul so eloquently wrote: Rom 8:35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Rom 8:36 Just as it is written, "FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED." Rom 8:37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. Rom 8:38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, Rom 8:39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. |

136 | Scriptures about striving to grow? | Phil 2:12 | prazn | 85678
Here a few, JRM, 2 Peter 1:5-11 in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge; 6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness; 7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins. 10 Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; 11 for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you. NAS Rom 12:9-21 9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; 11 not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, 13 contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and curse not. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. 17 Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. 19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. 20 "But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head." 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. NAS Eph 4:17-5:1 17 This I say therefore, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; 19 and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality, for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. 20 But you did not learn Christ in this way, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, 22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, 23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. 25 Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth, each one of you, with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. 26 Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and do not give the devil an opportunity. 28 Let him who steals steal no longer; but rather let him labor, performing with his own hands what is good, in order that he may have something to share with him who has need. 29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, that it may give grace to those who hear. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. NAS |

137 | Scriptures about striving to grow? | Phil 2:12 | prazn | 85679
I couldn't fit this one in the previous note because of the limit on the number of characters each response may contain: Col 3:1-17 3:1 If then you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. 5 Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. 6 For it is on account of these things that the wrath of God will come, 7 and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them. 8 But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, 10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him 11--a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all. 12 And so, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. 14 And beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. 138 | Peace with Cancer | Phil 4:7 | prazn | 87948
I am sorry to hear about your friend. I pray that the Lord will restore his health. In the meantime, the following Scriptures will help: Phil 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Phil 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. In other words, your friend should pray to the Lord about every concern or anxious thought. 1 Peter 5:7 to cast all of our cares (anxieties) upon the Lord because He cares for us. He should fill his mind with pleasant thoughts, including scriptures (especially the Psalms) that specifically address "healing" (e.g., Ps 6:2, Ps. 30:2, 42:11, Ps. 103:2, Ps. 107:20, Ps. 147:3). 2 Cor 13:11 Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. Peace in Christ! prazn |

139 | Peace with Cancer | Phil 4:7 | prazn | 87981
Please don't allow doubt and unbelief to keep you and/or your friend from believing that our Lord is able to heal whomever he pleases, whenever He pleases. The Lord God Almighty (Jehova Rophe: my Healer) is able to heal your friend!!! Mark 6:1, records that Jesus went to His own hometown, where the people doubted His ability to heal. Verses 5-6 record, "And He could do no miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He wondered at their unbelief." Do you recall that David (the man after God's own heart) fasted and prayed for his dying son (the son who was born to him through his affair with Bathsheba)? In 2 Samuel 12:22 David explains, "While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept; for I said 'Who knows, the Lord may be gracious to me, that the child may live'" What harm can come from believing for your friend and encouraging him to believe, as well. The Word of God tells us: "without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." Hebrews 11:6 "...let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting," James 1:5-6 "Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen." Eph. 3:20-21 Keep the faith!!! prazn |

140 | Peace with Cancer | Phil 4:7 | prazn | 88030
I've never battled the horrific disease of cancer, but I, as all other Christians do (at one time or another), suffer from infirmities that threaten to shake my faith in God. Though I may not see the outward manifestation of my healing; I believe that the Lord is able to heal me and I will never stop believing that. He may not be willing to heal me, according to my timetable, but He is the Great Physician, so I chose to stand on His word. "Though He slay me, I will hope in Him." Job 13:15 His plans are "to prosper me and not to harm me, to give me a future and a hope." And, if I die in the torment of my affliction, I will also die in faith believing that He wanted to heal me. Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever: Matt 9:22 But Jesus turning and seeing her said, "Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well." At once the woman was made well. Mark 5:34 And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be healed of your affliction." Mark 10:52 And Jesus said to him, "Go; your faith has made you well." Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him on the road. Luke 7:50 And He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace." Luke 8:48 And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace." Luke 17:19 And He said to him, "Stand up and go; your faith has made you well." Luke 18:42 And Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has made you well." Peace! prazn |
