61 | what does the parable in Luke 16:1 mean? | Luke 16:1 | prazn | 86330
It took a couple of years before the Holy Spirit revealed this one to me. The revelation that I received, is that the "shrewed manager" told his boss's customers to write a lower amount, than they really owed, on their bills. He told them to do this so that he might find favor with them once his boss fired him. The best way to explain this parable for its spiritual meaning is to refer to the Lord's prayer. Jesus gave us a model prayer, which begins "Our Father, which art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name..." The prayer continues, "and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors". We are blessed of the Lord when we forgive others their transgressions against us. When we forgive those who hurt us, and maintain our friendship with them, despite what they have done to offend us, we just might keep our friend. What's more, the Lord (the Boss) will, Himself, forgive us when we hurt others because we have forgiven those who have wronged us. Hope this makes sense to you. |

62 | Scriptural basis for your opinions | Luke 16:23 | prazn | 86106
Hi Tim, I'm sure that many people in this forum appreciate your opinions, however, for those of us who acknowledge the Word of God (i.e., the Holy Bible) as the only source of Truth, would you please cite the scriptures (book, chapter and verse) on which your opinions are founded? Thank you. |

63 | Scriptural basis for your opinions | Luke 16:23 | prazn | 86111
I'm sorry, Tim. I didn't specify which note of yours I was referring to; you've written quite a few (glory to God!). Please provide the scriptural basis for the opinions that you expressed in your previous note, for the edification of those of us who are not as knowledgeable about the scriptures, as you appear to be (see below): Note: Greetings Phil! It has long been a common tactic for those who reject the teaching that the dead are aware to turn the story of Lazarus and the rich man into a parable. But, as I've asked several individuals over the last few days, where in Scripture is it identified as such? Of course, the answer is nowhere. So, you are operating on an assumption that this must be a parable. The only reason being that it disagrees with your belief about death. I accept it as the text presents it - an historical account of two real people. Now, on to your questions my friend! 1) What is the second death? Rev. 20:15 answers this question: "The lake of fire is the second death." The second death is the final judgement of the wicked. 2) Do I believe in an immortal soul? If by this question you mean, "Do I believe that once a person has been born, that their essence from that point on will continue to exist even after death" - the answer is "Yes". Man is not eternal as God is, but man will continue to exist either in the presence of God or eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire. 3) Living soul? Your analogy is interesting, but fails to consider that Scripture says we have soul, spirit, and body. I have always leaned toward a similar understanding as you, that man is a composite unity of body and spirit. I think of it in terms of man being a soul, not having a soul. However, I see the breath of life as being our spirit. Just as the body existed prior to the spirit entering it, it is also possible that the spirit can exist apart from the body. This is where your analogy falls apart. It does not consider the spiritual part of man at all, only the natural. 4) Sleep? I believe that 'sleep' is a euphemism for death. I don't take the term to be literal. It has long been the case that people don't like to say that someone died. So, we come up with ways to say it without really saying it. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Whatever the Holy Spirit leads you to do, Tim, is fine with me. You are not working unto man, but unto our Lord; so, please bear in mind: James 3:1 Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment. 1 Cor 3:9-15 "...we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it. For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work. If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire." Stay blessed! |

65 | From did God has come? | John 1:1 | prazn | 86304
Hi Esther, From my previous post, you should now know that God has always existed. No being created Him. He lives and reigns in Heaven. He came from heaven to earth 2000 years ago, as a man named Jesus Christ (the Son of God). This is what the Bible says about Jesus Christ: John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:2 He was in the beginning with God. John 1:3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. Jesus will come back to this earth again, very soon, to judge mankind. Have you asked Him to be your Lord and Savior? I pray that you will, if you have not! God bless you! |

66 | was elijah john the baptist | John 1:1 | prazn | 87701
Greetings! Consider the following scripture (Jesus testimony concerning the identity of John the Baptist): Matt 11:2 Now when John, while imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples Matt 11:3 and said to Him, "Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?" Matt 11:4 Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and report to John what you hear and see: Matt 11:5 the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM. Matt 11:6 "And blessed is he who does not take offense at Me." Matt 11:7 As these men were going away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John, "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? Matt 11:8 "But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Those who wear soft clothing are in kings' palaces! Matt 11:9 "But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet. Matt 11:10 "This is the one about whom it is written, 'BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY BEFORE YOU.' Matt 11:11 "Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist! Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. Matt 11:12 "From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force. Matt 11:13 "For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John. Matt 11:14 "And if you are willing to accept it, John himself is Elijah who was to come. Matt 11:15 "He who has ears to hear, let him hear. Blessings! prazn |

67 | was elijah john the baptist | John 1:1 | prazn | 87707
Sorry! Had to do a little more digging to fully respond to your question. John the Baptist's ministry was foretold by the prophet Malachi: Mal 4:5 "Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the LORD." My understanding is that John the Baptist was not Elijah, the prophet of old; but, he came in the spirit of Elijah. Hope this helps! prazn |

68 | The Only Way to Heaven | John 3:3 | prazn | 87932
I am concerned about many of you who post in this forum. It seems that quite a few of you have a religion, but no relationship with our Lord. Some of you even profess to be "believers", but I wonder whether you are truly saved. Examine yourself, friend. Are you a born-again believer? Have you believed that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins so that you may have eternal life? John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. Have you confessed Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? Rom 10:9 if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; Rom 10:10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. Have you acknowledged that Jesus, and Jesus alone, can save you (not good works, not studying the Bible, not going to church every Sunday)? Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; Eph 2:9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. If you have not asked Jesus Christ to forgive you and to save you from your sins, you are not saved. I urge you to call 1-888-NEEDHIM so that someone can agree with you, in prayer, for your salvation. God bless you, prazn |

71 | Why can God can love the world, not us? | John 3:16 | prazn | 86458
Let's say that you are married to an alcoholic husband, who also happens to be abusive. Suppose that your husband has been so abusive that he's tried to take your life, on several occasions. You still love him, but you've got little children and, for their sake, you flee. You also leave a note, telling the abusive husband that you love him, but cannot live with him until he commits to stop drinking and abusing you. Now imagine that your mom or dad, two people who say they love you, take sides with your abusive husband, and insist that you return to him, along with your little ones. Can they possibly love you, as their daughter, if they would allow you and their grandchildren to return to a situation that could get all of you killed? God loves us, but He is holy and He cannot tolerate sin. John 3:16 makes it very clear that those who do not accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, by believing in Him, will perish. By loving the world, you are aligning yourself with sin (what God hates) and you will perish, with the world (i.e., those who reject Jesus). The above scenario, may have been a pretty lousy analogy, but I pray that your question has been answered. God bless you! |

72 | Rom 3:11 and Hebrews 11:6 ???? | John 3:16 | prazn | 89262
The text that you reference in Romans 3 is a quotation from the Psalms. Specifically: Ps 14:1 The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; There is no one who does good. Ps 14:2 The LORD has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there are any who understand, Who seek after God. Ps 14:3 They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one. Please notice that the psalmist is referring to those who do not believe that there is a God. I believe that Hebrews 11:6 is referring to those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and have had their spirits quickened (i.e., made alive) to commune or fellowship with God. Hope this helps! prazn |

73 | speaking in tongues out of context | John 4:23 | prazn | 122407
Assuming that the other members of the congregation are truly worshipping in spirit and in truth, how is it possible that they can be disrupted by anything or any one other than Almighty God? When we are truly caught up in the worship experience (adoring our risen Savior) there is simply no time or motivation to see or hear other worshippers. |
||||||
74 | why is worship hard | John 4:23 | prazn | 122472
Worship is not hard if you know (have an intimate relationship with) the Lord! If it's easy to to shower your spouse with love and affection, because it pleases that person, why not our Risen Savior?!? Worship is a "lifestyle". It's not a Sunday only practice. Worship is a way of being (i.e., surrendered 24/7 to the will of God as revealed through His Holy Spirit). If you don't "know" the Lord intimately, I encourage you to seek Him with all of your heart. Express your hearts desire to know Him. Express your thankfulness for all that He has done, is doing and will do in your life. blessings, prazn |

75 | Do tongues relate to worship in context? | John 4:23 | prazn | 122483
Dear one, Worship in the greek means (in part) to adore or to reverence. When I speak in tongues to Almighty God, I am yielding to His Spirit. The words that come from my mouth do not come from my own human reasoning, but from the Spirit of the Living God. How better to "worship" the Lord, than to submit ones self (mind, body, soul and spirit) to His Spirit! I am sorry that you believe that I have twisted the Scriptures. If you will re-read my post, perhaps you will see that I copied the Scripture precisely as written in the NASB. However, I am always open to receiving correction, if you will be so kind as to explain how I "twisted" what is written in the Bible. peace, prazn |

77 | Do tongues relate to worship in context? | John 4:23 | prazn | 122509
Hi Searcher, Glory to God for all of your research into the topic of worship. I can only address the topic based upon my experience. All that I know is that I adore our Lord. I love Him beyond what I am capable of demonstrating to Him in my natural state. I express my adoration and worship of Him in many different ways (including speaking in tongues, when words fail me and as the Spirit gives utterance). I'm sorry if you and others don't understand. But, I'm reminded that "A natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised." 1 Corinthians 2:14 grace and peace, prazn |

78 | prazn, what is the Biblical reference? | John 4:23 | prazn | 122517
Dearest Searcher, The info that you give about yourself in your profile is quite impressive! Since you are so apparently knowledgeable about the greek meaning of scriptures, will you please let me know what the following Scriptures mean in the greek?: "We have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us." -- 2 Cor 4:7 "...we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." - Romans 8:26 That last Scripture seems to imply that Almighty God can even understand the unuttered "groanings" of the Holy Spirit. But, I could be wrong... Thanks for your diligence! peace, prazn P.S. Do you adore your Savior? Have you ever experienced true intimacy with Him? |

79 | Where's "Our whole life becomes worship" | John 4:23 | prazn | 122520
The Pharisees and Scribes were the most learned religious men of their time. But, they missed the hour of their visitation because their Messiah (our Lord Jesus Christ) did not conform to their very narrow interpretation and understanding of the Holy Writ. in Love, prazn |

80 | How can 1 Cor 14:14 be your reference? | John 4:23 | prazn | 122521
You're right, our Lord Jesus Christ used the very same technique when the Pharisees asked Him a question that He was not compelled to answer: Mark 11:27 They came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to Him, Mark 11:28 and began saying to Him, "By what authority are You doing these things, or who gave You this authority to do these things?" Mark 11:29 And Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one question, and you answer Me, and then I will tell you by what authority I do these things. Mark 11:30 "Was the baptism of John from heaven, or from men? Answer Me." Mark 11:31 They began reasoning among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' He will say, 'Then why did you not believe him?' Mark 11:32 "But shall we say, 'From men'?"--they were afraid of the people, for everyone considered John to have been a real prophet. Mark 11:33 Answering Jesus, they said, "We do not know." And Jesus said to them, "Nor will I tell you by what authority I do these things." Searcher, are you in love with our Lord? peace, prazn |
