121 | Who are GOD's chosen people? | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 219667
I am not sure I understand your question. The Jews are God's chosen people. They had a specific purpose in God's plan and still do. Chosen for salvation is a topic completely different. It depends on what perspective your question comes from. You are correct God called Abram out of the land of Ur and then his descendant Jacob's name was changed to Israel of which we call them Israelites. They are called Jews in the New Testament.

No need to apologize. I have not had time to be on the computer these past few days. If you want to ask me the two questions again I will compile an answer for you. If not that is fine too. It would help if you would fill out your profile so we can know a little bit about your background. When a person does not fill out their profile it is hard to measure how detailed an answer needs to be. There are all types of people who come here from all sorts of backgrounds. Filling out the profile is appropriate. One of the forum members asked you to do this. I hope you will consider it.

To answer question number one the source for my answer which was given in the original post was Genesis Chapter 3 and 6 and the book of Acts. More answers and scriptures were given by stjohn, BradK, DocTrinsograce, CDBJ and BMyers which apply to questions one and two. As to your profile it is your discretion to place there whatever you please and is not mandatory just requested by other forum members. Again no offense was taken and none was meant.
125 | removal of Holy Spirit | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 221962
The great tribulation is a time of testing for the nation of Israel. God's Holy Spirit indwells believers. The church will be raptured and the believers are taken home. It is their influence that will be gone during the great tribulation. However, as people (Israel) turn to the Lord in repentance they are sealed with the Holy Spirit. See Revelation 7:4. There are signs and wonders that occur that point them to God. The events of nature point to God. It is through these things that people seek God. One example may be the events after 9/11. People everywhere were looking to God. You saw people going to church in large numbers. You saw advertising signs quoting bible verses. This is an example of how when we cannot help ourselves and are helpless we turn to the only one who can help us - the Lord and Creator of our souls. 126 | Recognize loved ones in heaven | Bible general Archive 3 | Val | 190859
Matthew 28:5-10 And the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. "And go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going before you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you." And they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid; go and take word to My brethren to leave for Galilee, and there they shall see Me." NASB Mark 16:19 "So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God." NASB Philippians 3:20-21 "For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself." NASB Colossians 1:12-20 "...giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. And He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authories - all things have been created by Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead; so that He Himself might come to have first place in everything. For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fulness to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven." NASB |

128 | Saved by hearing a true Christian? | Bible general Archive 3 | Val | 190881
The book of Romans says that evidence of a Creator is evident in His creation Romans 1:16-20 He also has put within man an internal knowledge of Him Romans 1:19 The way to test the spirits is in 1 John 4:1-3 "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God: and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world." 129 | Keep the Sabbath Holy? | Bible general Archive 3 | Val | 191012
I am currently studying Hebrews and will let you know what I find out about the Sabbath. We do word studies and cross references and it should be an interesting study. I have learned to look up every mention of the word and its synonyms in a concordance which gives the verses, then to look at how the word is used in those verses in their context. It is so exciting to find people who want to search out the scriptures and learn for themselves as the Holy Spirit teaches us. Grace and peace to you in the Father and His beloved Son Jesus Christ our Lord. May you grow in the grace and knowledge of Him.

132 | Psalm 20:1-4 | Bible general Archive 3 | Val | 192124
Ps 20:1 May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble! (Notice in Psalms 19:14 he asks that his thoughts be acceptable to the Lord his Redeemer-he seems to be repenting of his own sins) then in 20:1 he begins to pray for others that they will call on the Lord and receive help from Him when troubles comes their way) May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high! (He is speaking of the God of Israel who was called Jacob before God changed his name) Ps 20:2 May He send you help from the sanctuary And support you from Zion! (He seems to be speaking of heaven - see verse 6) Ps 20:3 May He remember all your meal offerings And find your burnt offering acceptable!(He seems to be speaking to Israel because they received the covenants and the laws) Selah. Ps 20:4 May He grant you your heart's desire And fulfill all your counsel! (He seems to be saying he hopes they get what they deeply desire) I hope this helps. |

133 | how tall are angels | Bible general Archive 3 | Val | 192261
2 Kin 19:35 Then it happened that night that the angel of the LORD went out and struck 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians; and when men rose early in the morning, behold, all of them were dead. 2 Is 37:36 Then the angel of the LORD went out and struck 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians; and when men arose early in the morning, behold, all of these were dead. These verses show that one angel killed 185,000. This shows the power of one angel. |

134 | Is capital punishment Biblical? | Bible general Archive 3 | Val | 192738
(These verses address that topic:) Num 35:30 'If anyone kills a person, the murderer shall be put to death at the evidence of witnesses, but no person shall be put to death on the testimony of one witness. 2 Deut 17:6 "On the evidence of two witnesses or three witnesses, he who is to die shall be put to death; he shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness. 3 Deut 17:7 "The hand of the witnesses shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. So you shall purge the evil from your midst. 4 Deut 19:15 "A single witness shall not rise up against a man on account of any iniquity or any sin which he has committed; on the evidence of two or three witnesses a matter shall be confirmed. (In our day with the technology of DNA and fingerprints, etc. that is even better than eye witness testimony-something to consider) (A word study on Justice and Lawlessness, the poor and the widow also sheds light on what the Lord requires of us) |

137 | what to say to someone who doesnt believ | Bible general Archive 3 | Val | 194003
Lynda, if your friend is being affected by the negative and painful, it may be time for her to change occupations. Her mental health may be affected. Few people could work in a job like that. It takes a special type of person. Also if she has been in it too long, it may be time for a change of job. You can show her God's love and assure her that God loved her so much He gave His only Son to die in her place that she might have eternal life. Perhaps you might lift her up in prayer on a regular basis. Hope this helps.

139 | Exodus - laws leaders must follow | OT general | Val | 202258
There are places in the bible where it talks about money. Being rich is not what is condemned but how you get the riches. There are two types of rich people. The godly rich and the wicked rich. Some positions provide temptations to get rich because of their influence in different areas so it is probably a hazard for some one easily swayed by the love of money. Again, it is how one receives their riches. If they do not obey the Lord's laws and the laws of the country, and they administer justice and share with the poor, that is a good thing. If they obtain their riches at the expense of others, disobey the word of the Lord and break the law then that is not good. The book of James talks alot about the rich man.
