Bible Question:
Somewhere in the book of Exodus GOD tells laws about appointing kings (leaders). He says that kings may not enrich themselves when in office. He says essentially the same thing in Deuteronomy Ch. 17, Ver. 16 "But he shall not multiply horses for himself" In the book of Exodus GOD says it more exactly. What GOD says in the book of Exodus is that leaders are the servants of the people and therefore cannot enrich themselves while in office. Does anybody know where where it says the above in the book of Exodus. |
Bible Answer: There are places in the bible where it talks about money. Being rich is not what is condemned but how you get the riches. There are two types of rich people. The godly rich and the wicked rich. Some positions provide temptations to get rich because of their influence in different areas so it is probably a hazard for some one easily swayed by the love of money. Again, it is how one receives their riches. If they do not obey the Lord's laws and the laws of the country, and they administer justice and share with the poor, that is a good thing. If they obtain their riches at the expense of others, disobey the word of the Lord and break the law then that is not good. The book of James talks alot about the rich man. |
