121 | What is suffering's origin and cause? | Job | RAVEN | 43392
Hello Samantha, You have ask quite a few questions but I think can be answered with one verse,Genesis 3 6So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. This would be the origin of mans suffering on earth. All the problems that the people in the bible and us today deal with can be traced back to this verse which is the first sin of man which resulted in the fall. I hope this has helped. Raven |

122 | Explain million year old dinosaurs. | Job | RAVEN | 43398
I think that you have a conflict with your faith if you are doubting te inspired word. The following article will help better to explain. Raven APPARENT AGE by Kyle Butt, M.A. How old is the Earth? No one knows the exact number of times this globe has orbited the Sun. However, using biblical chronology a person can calculate the age of the Earth to be in the neighborhood of 6,000 years old. “But the Earth looks millions of years old,” some people will protest. There are at least two responses to such a statement. First, one might ask: “Compared to what; what does a young Earth look like?” We do not have another Earth that we know is younger than this one, so how would we know what a young Earth looks like. Second, it should not surprise us if science occasionally calculates older dates for the Earth, due to a concept known as the “doctrine of apparent age.” This idea suggests that the things God made during the Creation week were formed complete and fully functional. For instance, how old were Adam and Eve two seconds after God created them? They were two seconds old! Yet they walked, talked, and looked like adult human beings, and even had the ability to reproduce (which was one of the commands God gave them—Genesis 1:28). If a tree were cut down in the Garden of Eden one day after the Creation week, how many rings would it have had? Possibly hundreds, yet it would have been only five days old (trees and other plants, remember, were created on day three of the Creation week). So, the real age of the tree and the apparent age of the tree would have been quite different. Just because this Earth may appear older than 6,000 years, that does not mean it is older than that. However, we must be careful not to “read into” the Bible things that are not there. For example, some people have asked if the doctrine of apparent age means that God placed plants and animals in the fossil record to “trick” man or “test his faith”? No, God never would do that. Why? When we find a fossil, we naturally (and correctly) believe that the organism that made the fossil once lived on Earth. If God just “inserted” it into the fossil record, then He has misled us or lied to us. Yet the Bible plainly teaches us that God cannot lie (Titus 1:2). How, then, did the vast numbers of plants and animals (and, occasionally, humans) become entombed in the fossil record? Likely, many (though not all) of the fossils we see are the result of the Flood of Noah. Other people have suggested that if God made the Earth appear older than it actually is, then He has deceived us because things aren’t really as old as they look. This criticism would be true—except for one thing: God told us what He did! He did not leave us in the dark or try to “trick us” or “test our faith” by hiding from us important information that we would need. Rather, He was very straightforward and honest with us. Considering the material found in the first eleven chapters of Genesis (and elsewhere through the Bible), no one can justifiably accuse God of deception. If we ignore His Word regarding what He said He did, is it God’s fault? Hardly! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright © 2001 Apologetics Press, Inc. All rights reserved. |

124 | Authorized name vs. Unauthorized? | Matt 16:18 | RAVEN | 52072
To add to the disscussion on the question of "Is Denominationalism a Sin?" If we as Christians are to worship in Spirit and Truth John 4:24 and in one faith, one body, which is the church Ephesians 4:4-6, then why have so many denominations choosen man ordained names to go on the front of the building where they worship? Usually when something is purchased and/or built by someone that persons name goes on the front. Acts 20:28 I meen didn't Jesus say He would build His church? |

125 | Authorized name vs. Unauthorized? | Matt 16:18 | RAVEN | 52183
Hello Justme, You wrote,"I know what I believe and where I feel most represents my theology, and follows how I think biblically a church should be run." God through His inspired word,Proverbs 28 26He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered. Proverbs 14 12There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. You wrote, "Well I can tell you in Bolivia in September of 1983 if it were not for Southern Baptists many missionaries who depend on private denoations would have gone belly up!" That was a good thing and I am glad they were able to help. You ask would I like it if there were no denominations? You bet I would! Was the Church that Jesus said He would build a denomination. If you say it was then you will blaspheme. You better think this time before you answer. The church that Jesus said He would build was the true church, and its the only true church. It had a pattern to go by and gospel message that was to be preached and that was the death, burial and resurection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! The rest of the New Testament after the book of Acts tells Christians to be unified in to ONE FAITH! NOT MULTI-FAITHS! or MULTI-DOCTRINES! Ephesians 4 13till we all come to the UNITY OF THE FAITH and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; Proverbs 4 2For I give you good doctrine: Do not forsake my law. Romans 6 16Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, YET YOU OBEYED FROM THE HEART THAT FORM OF DOCTRINE TO WHICH YOU WERE DELIVERED. 18And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. Romans 16 Avoid Divisive Persons 17 Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, CONTRARY TO THE DOCTRINE WHICH YOU LEARNED, and AVOID THEM. Galatians 1 Only One Gospel 6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7WHICH IS NOT ANOTHER; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, LET HIM BE ACCURSED. Ephesians 4 14that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every WIND OF DOCTRINE, by the TRICKERY OF MEN, in the CUNNING CRAFTINESS of DECEITFUL PLOTTING Now after reading these scriptures, which I doubt you did or do, if you want to talk about strong language than lets talk! Would it not have been better for those in Bolivia to hear a sermon like the ones above instead of this watered down stuff you hear in every denominational church all across the world! The bible is clear when it comes to denominations and divisions of the Gospel. Read it! and learn it! Raven |

126 | What is 'the fruit of the vine'? | Matt 26:29 | RAVEN | 34490
I do not know where your information come from but this is what the bible says about it. Also for Jesus Christ to institute the Lords Supper and ask us to remember Him this way, your way would be calling the savior a drunk since the fruit of the vine is to represent His blood. Please read the following scriptures and remember the bible does not contridict itself and you should arive at an answer using only the bible. Proverbs 23 29Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? 30Those who linger long at the wine, Those who go in search of mixed wine. 31Do not look on the wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, When it swirls around smoothly; 32At the last it bites like a serpent, And stings like a viper. 33Your eyes will see strange things, And your heart will utter perverse things. Luke 1 14And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. 15For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. 16And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. |

127 | What is 'the fruit of the vine'? | Matt 26:29 | RAVEN | 34653
Romans 14 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are pure, but it is evil for the man who eats with offense. It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak. Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. The scripture Matt 11:1 that you use in defense proves only what others said about Jesus not what Jesus said about Himself. There were many other accusations made also that were untrue. Read again, it says "and they say". A line has been drawn in the sand and we as Christians should stay away from it and not even get close to it. When you say drink in moderation, how does this look to your other christian or non-christian friends. Suppose they see you do it and then they do it and have a problem with controling it. Then because of your actions you have caused someone to fall (sin). Matthew 18 Jesus Warns of Offenses * "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes! The above scripture that says "little ones" is not refering to a child as we think of a child but it means children of God, for it says they believe. Its used the same way in 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. Now back to the subject.... You have to accept that Jesus was pure and did nothing wrong and would never have contributed to the wrong doing of one of His followers. 1 Peter 2 "Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth"; If you belive as you have stated that Jesus drank wine in its alcholic form then you have just blown the whole plan of salvation. Habakkuk 2 "Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbor, Pressing him to your bottle, Even to make him drunk, That you may look on his nakedness! As I stated the last time the bible does not contradict itself. So therefore we cannot take the scriptures and twist them to fit the lifestyle we want. We must conform to it, not the other way around. 2 Timothy 3 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work |

128 | What is 'the fruit of the vine'? | Matt 26:29 | RAVEN | 34673
Thank you for replying in such a positive way. And you are right Christians do not consider the thought of giving up alcohol. It is not even a factor. I used to drink a Magarita once or twice a year. And I never got drunk. And I also considered myself a good person with good morals who believed in God and in Jesus Christ as my savior. But I was not a Christian, and I knew it. But as of January 23, 2000 I obeyed they gospel and came in contact with the blood of Christ through baptism and became a Christian and have never looked back. Remember what happened to Lots wife when she looked back? A Christian doesn't have to look back because those sins are in the past and have been forgiven. And as 1John 1:7 says if we continue to walk in the light the blood of Christ cleanses us. There is no room for spliting hairs when it comes to the truth. Either you believe the bible and obey it or you don't. One of the most beautiful verses in the bible says Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way. Thanks again for writing and I hope we can agree again on another topic. Raven |

129 | Please clarify your statement | Matt 26:29 | RAVEN | 34705
Its is because of the blood of Christ that we have any hope of being saved. We come in contact with the blood of Christ through baptism. Not literally blood, but this is the obedient step to salvation that is commanded of us after one repents and confesses Christ is the Son of God. Christ said that "he that belives and is baptised shall be saved, he that does not believe shall be damned. Mark 16:16. And Jesus also said, John 3 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Being born of water is just saying baptism. Besides the following scriptures read the book of Acts. Acts 2:37-47 is the perfect example of what must happen for a person to besaved. Acts 2 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call." And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation." Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. Romans 6 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, Galatians 3 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Hebrews 9 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 1 Peter 3 who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him. 1 John 1 7But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. And that is obedient faith, an acting faith, and a working faith. I am sure I have left something out but I you can see how one must be obedient to the Gospel and put on their savior in baptism and thus come in contact with the blood of Christ. Again the bible is clear in this manner, but its your choice , you can believe it or not. Raven |

I never said regenerate. This is the culminating act of a contrite heart to accept the will of God and be obedient to that will. And if you had read my note I said that the water is not literally the blood. I know that water is just water, but it's what we are commanded to do. 1 Peter 3 21There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Mark 16 16He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. Notice the conjunction "and". There is no conversion in the new testement that shows a person that merly believes, without entering into that watery grave of baptisim, being saved. Jesus said this about those just believe. Matthew 7 21 "Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' Jesus said if you hear what He says, its not enough but you must also do them. Matthew 7 24 "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: And Jesus said if you reject what He says you have rejected what God said. John 12 42 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; 43for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. 44Then Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. 45And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 46I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. 47And if anyone hears My words and does not believe,[1] I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. 49For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. 50And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak." And Jesus said "He that believes and is baptized" In the book of Acts I have counted 9 different conversions and all of them include baptism. If you don't believe me read it for yourself. You see the problem with the religious world today is man wants to have his way. Liberalism is killing the church. But thats not Gods way. God wants us to be joined in like faith. 1 Cor 1:10 But everytime you put mans way against Gods way, man will have his way everytime. Man doesn't want Gods way, never has. But there has always been that reimnant like in Noahs day when 8 souls where saved. This might hit you hard but for the most part I don't give opinions, I just give scripture and you can believe it or not! And most don't believe it. Whens the last time you thought about how many different denominational churches there are? And then wonder was Christ church a denomination? Of course it wasn't! But man had his way, and now look theres a church for every kind religion you want. Any feel good measage you want to spread, theres a denomination that can accomidate. And if that one does't give you the warm an fuzzy feeling your looking for, then try another, theres hundreds. But its not Gods way. God said, Ephesians 4 4There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you[1] all. The body in this scripture is the church. Colossians 1 17And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. So it is with baptism. Mans way has perverted it, with sprinkling, pouring and dipping. No where in the bible does it say to be sprinkled, poured or dipped. But man had his way. And you said that you don't believe that baptism is essential. Then let me leave you with this parting scripture. Proverbs 28 26He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered. |

132 | Why admit Two Prophets were not THERE? | Mark 9:1 | RAVEN | 43023
Hello Lastday, I would like to point out that the scripture Mark 9:1 which speaks of the kingdom of God is a prophecy of the coming church which becomes a reality in Acts 2. Mark 9:1 goes right along with Matthew 16:17-18 Matthew 16 17Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. The kingdom of God is the church and is prophesied in the Old Testament. Isaiah 9 6 For a (1) child will be born to us, a (2) son will be given to us; And the (3) government will rest (4) on His shoulders; And His name will be called (5) Wonderful Counselor, (6) Mighty God, Eternal (7) Father, Prince of (8) Peace. 7 There will be (9) no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the (10) throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with (11) justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. (12) The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this. Daniel 2 The Divine Kingdom 44 "In the days of those kings the (1) God of heaven will (2) set up a (3) kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will (4) crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever. 45 "Inasmuch as you saw that a (5) stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and that it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold, the (6) great God has made known to the king what (7) will take place in the future; so the dream is true and its interpretation is trustworthy." As well as the New Testement, Luke 1 32 "He will be great and will be called the Son of (1) the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him (2) the throne of His father David; 33 (3) and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, (4) and His kingdom will have no end." So I wanted point out that the scripture which you are using was already a reality before Revelation. Raven |

There is no basis for you to make such a claim. And what purpose does it serve anyway? Matthew 26 20When evening had come, He sat down with the twelve. This is all we are told and all you need to know. 1 Corinthians 4 6 Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, "THAT YOU MAY LEARN IN US NOT TO THINK BEYOND WHAT IS WRITTEN," that none of you may be puffed up on behalf of one against the other. 135 | THREE WAYS TO BE SAVED? | John 1:12 | RAVEN | 51287
Hello Kimmy, You have ask the right question, but there are actualy five things you must do to be saved. Now before you say thats too many let me go over them. First, you must "Hear" the Gospel,Romans 10:17 "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Second you must "Believe" Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." Third, you must "Repent" Luke 13:3 "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." Fourth, "Confess" that Jesus is the Son of God Matthew 10:32-33 "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven." And fifth, be "Baptized" you ask the same question those who believed in Acts 2:37-38 "37Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, "WHAT SHALL WE DO?" 38Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. And that is what a person must do to be saved. And once a person is saved God wants us to remain faithful to Him no matter what, even to death. Rev 2:10 I hope this has helped answer your question and if you have more please ask. Raven |

This shold help with what tongues were spoken. The Crowd's Response 5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, FROM EVERY NATION UNDER HEAVEN. They spoke (unlike what people clam today or can prove) a true language. Not just babbling! Read on because everyone heard them speak IN HIS OWN LANGUAGE. 7Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, "Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8And how is it that WE HEAR, EACH IN OUR OWN LANGUAGE IN WHICH WE WERE BORN? This is somthing that NO toungue speaker today can claim or prove. This was truly a gift of God and was done to proclaim Jesus was the Christ, which resulted in the begining of the church. Raven |

140 | Steadfastness (What does it means) | Acts 2:42 | RAVEN | 46404
Hello Bukola, First of all you must understand what steadfast means. It means to be unmoveable, continuing in the same way, not to be swayed by what men say but to only go to what the bible says for your answers. As an example the converted Christians on the Day of Pentacost, Acts 2 42And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. The scriptures that you referenced uses imagery of how we as Christians are tempted everyday. This verse 14 "Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth", gives Christians the answer as to how to overcome the wicked one And before Eph 6:10-18 the scriptures again remind us to remain steadfast. Ephesians 4 14that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ-- Raven |
