Hello Treadway, I will tell up front that the bible does not have a verse that says the child is in a quote "safe state". But, as from all the scriptures we read mainly the ones Jesus spoke, the implied rule is children, infants what eve you want to call them are not in any danger of being lost. For instance this verse; Matthew 18 3and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven." If children were bad or stained with sin, this statement would be false, a lie. God wants us to become like little children who are without sin. Of course the childs "safe state" is only temporary, because as the child grows and "understands" right from wrong and can make decisions on its own then and only then can the child start to understand what sin is and why we must be baptized to wash away our sins. This whole safe state revolves around the "age of accountability" which is another term not in the bible. But from reading the bible you must then understand that it was written for the accountable person. So they might know God and turn from sin. I hope this has helped. Raven |

103 | Saved with Baptism? | Bible general Archive 1 | RAVEN | 51306
Hello Treadway, You wrote; "Might be a "split of a hair", but seems to me that Jesus is speaking of a child (children) who believe, have faith, etc., the child who comes to Him in innocence." No, there are no spliting of hairs. There are no mention of any children in the bible that were saved or have need of being saved. The children are just children just like the ones we have today, just like the ones being born every minute. Another set verses to exam is Mark 10 Jesus Blesses Little Children (2) 13 Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but THE DISCIPLES REBUKED THOSE WHO BROUGHT THEM. 14But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; FOR SUCH IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD. 15Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." 16And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them. Notice it says they brought the children and that Jesus did not say as He said to so many others (who were adults) that their sins were forgiven. You also wrote, "For example, if an earthquake destroyed a city in Japan, and thousands of children were killed, would they be in a "safe state", too?" From my previous responce I think I coverd this but the answer would be yes of course they would be in a safe state. Look at it this the way to understand it more clearly. Any child or adult even such as an adult who is mentaly retarded ie. Downs Syndrome. These people can not understand or comprehend what it takes to be saved or lost. I mean babies and little children can't even read. There is no doubt that if an eathquake was to wipe out Japan and every child or mentally retarded person would go to Heaven. No doubt! Surely you can understand this. I hope this has help you to better understand this question? Raven |

Hello Treadway, Jesus Christ said, "You shall know the truth and the truth will make you free." John 8:32 So we agree that children or retarded people would be required to know. Since they can't then they would be safe. You wrote, "What about those who died prior to Christ's time?" These people were under the Mossaic Law not Christ. But scriptures tell us, Hebrews 11 The Heavenly Hope 13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them,[1] embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. You mentioned the ones in the flood. Noah had a 120 years to build the Ark. During this time no doubt he preached and tried to warn. The people probably mocked him. The point is, that others had ample oppourtunity to believe, but the refused. To all your questions about those who may never had heard of God, much less Jesus Christ. Number one God in the Old Testament used prophets and spoke directly to them. The people new God. And the New Testament tell us, Hebrews 1 God's Supreme Revelation Christ the Fullest Revelation of God (1) 1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself[1] purged our[2] sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, And lastly, Jesus told His Apostles, Mark 16 15And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. And one more verse I found while searching for this, Matthew 24 13But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. The bible tells us that the Gospel will be preached in all the world. Even if there could possibly be somewhere that the gospel hasn't reached, that person has got to think "Where did I come from?" "Why am I here?" "What happens to me when I die?" Ignorance is no excuse. Raven |

Hank please calm down. I don't want anything I say to push over the edge :) To answer your question of proof that forbids chiors. We are to learn from the bible not add to the bible. God sad, Malachi 3 6"For I am the LORD, I do not change;" And if God does not change His word does not change either. We are to worship as the bible directs us, not as man directs us. In other words if it ain't in there don't add it to your worship pattern? 1 Corinthians 4 6 Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up on behalf of one against the other. 111 | Traditional vs. Contemporary | Bible general Archive 1 | RAVEN | 51977
Steve, It would seem that you agree with contemporary worship. But to come into the presence of the Lord, which is what you are attemping to do, how do you think based on scripture the Lord views hand claping, raising hands and arms above the head and swaying in your seat? The Psalmist said,Psalm 96 9Oh, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness! Tremble before Him, all the earth. I'm sorry Steve but I don't think contemporary worship quite fits into the Lords pattern. Raven |

112 | What is unity of the body? | NT general Archive 1 | RAVEN | 35725
First lets read the sections of scriptures: KNJV Ephesians 4 Walk in Unity One Church, Many Parts 1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you[1] all. This section of scripture which is taken from the letter written by Paul, is a plea for the Christians that were in Ephesus to be unified in the one body, which is the church. The following scriptures should back this up. Ephesians 1 22And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Ephesians 2:16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. Ephesians 4:16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. |

116 | Cain and Abel's sacrifies | Gen 4:4 | RAVEN | 47343
The way we know is by reading more of the bible. We find through out the Old Testament that a burnt offering must be made. It was this during the patriarchs as well as in the Mosaical age. The only thing that one can do to understand how Cain and Abel knew to offer burnt offerings was that they were told by God. A lot of time passes in the following, Genesis 4 Cain and Abel (1) 1 Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, "I have acquired a man from the LORD." 2Then she bore again, this time his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the LORD. 4Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. We see that Eve gave birth twice and the children grew up and reached the time in their lives where it was necessary for them to make an offering to God. So at least 13-15 years probably goes by. This all occurs in four verses. The only thing we can know is that they were told beforehand. God not accept one and not the other if He had not done so. Raven |

Its the last book of Moses. It is written during the last month of his life. Moses uses his last month to try once more to prepare the people of Israel to go into the promised land. And the key word he uses to reinforce the laws of God is "Remember". Raven |

118 | "discrepencies" in the Word ? | 1 Sam 17:12 | RAVEN | 46457
Hello Gkellyser, The discrepency that you are speaking of is no discrepency at all. After doing some research I have found that if you look at the Hebrew word for "son" which is "ben" you will find this which comes from the Strongs Concordance, 01121 ben (bane) from 01129; TWOT - 254; n m AV - son 2978, children 1568, old 135, first 51, man 20, young 18, young 01241 17, child 10, stranger 10, people 5, misc 92; 4906 1) son, grandson, child, member of a group 1a) son, male child 1b) grandson 1c) children (pl. - male and female) 1d) youth, young men (pl.) 1e) young (of animals) 1f) sons (as characterisation, i.e. sons of injustice [for un- righteous men] or sons of God [for angels] 1g) people (of a nation) (pl.) 1h) of lifeless things, i.e. sparks, stars, arrows (fig.) 1i) a member of a guild, order, class After looking this up I discovered that in every scripture that you have in question ( and a lot more I might add ) uses this word. Notice that it is also used in reference to grandchildren. Interestingly enough if you read 2 Sam 13:3 you will find that Jesse's third son Shimeah had a son and his name was Jonadab. It was true that Jesse had only begot seven sons with David being the seventh as recorded in 1 Chronicles 2:13-15 but keep in mind the above information when reading 1 and 2 Samuel. I hope this has helped. Raven |

119 | satan as gods agent | 2 Chr 6:30 | RAVEN | 46784
First of all Satan was not and is not Gods agent. You speak as if you think God used Satan to torcher Job when this was no the case at all. God knows the hearts of all men and allowed Satan to do those things to Job to show him that he would not win the battle. It got so bad for Job that his own wife said to him "why don't you just curse God and die". This of course did not happen and God give him back all that he had lost plus. God knows the hearts of men. Satan does not work for God. Raven |

120 | why was it three days? | Job | RAVEN | 43380
To try an answer the question you have it would be nice to know what kind of answer you where looking for? The reason most undoubtly would be because Jesus had told His apostles that this must happen. And He made it plan that that it would be three days. Mark 10:33"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and deliver Him to the Gentiles; 34and they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again." Also it had been prophesied, Hosea 6:2"He will (1) revive us after two days; He will (2) raise us up on the third day, That we may live before Him. and confirmed, 1 Corinthians 15:4 and that He was buried, and that He was (1) raised on the third day (2) according to the Scriptures, But, also the three days and not three hours would have been needed to assure the people that He was indeed dead and then raised. We can see this when read of Jesus raising Lazarus, John 11 14Then Jesus said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead. 15And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE. Nevertheless let us go to him." 17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had ALREADY BEEN IN THE TOMB FOUR DAYS. This is the kind of proof needed for people to believe in Jesus. Further proof that they wanted to be sure He was dead is what Pilate says in Mark 15:42 "Now when evening had come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath, 43Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent council member, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, coming and taking courage, went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 44Pilate MARVELED THAT HE WAS ALREADY DEAD; and summoning the centurion, HE ASK HIM IF HE HAD BEEN DEAD FOR SOME TIME. 45So when he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph. This is about as clear as we can understand why Jesus said three days. I hope this helps. Raven |
