122 | 7 accounts of works of H/spirit in Acts | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 133113
Greetings Millass and welcome to the Forum. Before posting a question, it is always wise to check for answers that are archived on a specific verse. You will see that for 1 Sam 19:9 the "N" is in green, which means that there has been some discussion of this verse. Click on the "N" and you will see that your question has been addressed. Your second question is more general. I would offer this as a thought for you to consider. In the OT, the Holy Spirit came upon people and His presence could be removed. After pentacost, the Holy Spirit indwelt (2 Tim 1:14)believers. Do a search on Holy Spirit in the "Get Bible Text" field and see all the references pertaining to His activity in the life of a believer! May God bless you as you search His Word. mommapbs |

123 | Jesus in the flesh..what does this mean | Matt 1:23 | Mommapbs | 132865
Noveta - See Phil 2:5-11. God did indeed come in human form! Should we believe what other people say about God or what God says about Himself? Jesus DID make a point to declare His Divinity so yes, we should stand firm in and for the TRUTH. See Mt 16:13-16 Jesus asks, "Who do people say that I am?" And then He goes on to ask, "But who do you say that I am?" We read that God gave Peter understanding to answer this question correctly. So likewise He gives us the knowledge of who HE is! God's Word reveals and by the Spirit we understand. Those without the Spirit do not understand. "But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised." 1 Cor 2:14 Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. The Scriptures I gave to you speak for themselves . . . if the individual reads these words and choses not to believe what they say to him, then there is nothing more to do but to pray that God will open his ears and eyes to hear and see the TRUTH of who God is - Jesus. With prayer for you and yours, mommapbs |

124 | noah ark | Gen 7:11 | Mommapbs | 132853
Greetings - we know only that Noah had three sons when he was 500 years old. (Gen 5:32;6:10) The flood came when he was in his 600th year. The Bible does not tell us specifically how long it took to build the ark. IMO, this is not as important as the fact that Noah was obedient to God in doing it! Can you imagine the ridicule he lived with - the rejection of the people? Inspite of it all, he stood firm and trusted God. Blessings, mommapbs |

125 | Jesus in the flesh | Matt 1:23 | Mommapbs | 132851
Greetings Noveta - yes, it means what is says, God came in human form. The Divinity of Jesus Christ is the issue here. Jesus tells us "I and the Father ae One' John 10:30. He also declared, "Before Abraham was born, I AM." John 8:58. Other religions do not deny that that Jesus existed. But only Biblical Christianity tells the TRUTH of who He IS, not was but IS. We love and serve a LIVING Savior! So, all those "religions" that claim Jesus was a good man or a prophet or a son of God, deny that He is who HE says He IS - GOD. From your profile you stated "There is not much else to my life" May God show you that there is MUCH to your life with Him. Jesus said,"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." John 10:10 This means right here and NOW, not when you die! I suspect you've been "robbed" for too long! I urge you to "Delight yourself in the Lord!" (Ps 37:4) Blessings, mommapbs |

128 | When does Scripture apply to us? | John 17:12 | Mommapbs | 132523
2 Tim 3:16 - ALL Scripture, not "some" is profitable. With God ALL things are possible. If He chooses to speak to us by a donkey and we fail to heed His voice, who is responsible? Listen to what the Spirit says as you read the Word . . . If you read God's Word and don't expect to hear God speaking individually to you, you won't! For God's Word also says, "As a man thinks within himself, so is he." (Prov 23:7) Frankly, we must choose to listen first! Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Dalcent, I encourage you to choose to "believe" that God will speak individually to you through His Word, not through His church, but by His Spirit directly to you. How about completing your user profile? Blessings, mommapbs |

129 | What is the light in Genesis 1:3? | Gen 1:3 | Mommapbs | 132274
Greetings! "This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all." (1 John 1:5) " . . .Christ was to suffer, and that by reason of His resurrection from the dead He would be the first to proclaim LIGHT (emphasis mine) both to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles." Acts 26:23 When God said, "Let there be Light," imo, He was revealing Himself. 2 Cor 4:6 tells us, "For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ." Contrast this with, 2 Cor 4:4 "the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." The LORD is God, and He has given us light;(Ps 118:27) Job askes, "Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden, And whom God has hedged in?" (Job 3:23) Perhaps the answer to Job's question is that God gives us Light ( which is Christ Himself) to be known! Jesus said, "This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed." John 3:19-20 Although the Light has been given, men reject the Light, because their deeds are evil, and when the Light shines upon them, they recognize them as such. So imo when God said, "Let there be light," He had a twofold purpose, first to enlighten men to the Presence and reality of a knowable Holy God and secondly as a mean s to reveal our sinfulness. (see also Dan 2:20-22; Job 12:22) I hope this has helped! May the Light of Christ shine upon you! Blessings, mommapbs |

131 | Naming our Daughter question | 2 Chr 3:1 | Mommapbs | 131937
Greetings! How wonderful that you are putting so much thought behind the naming of your daughter! I am truly glad that you seek to honor God in this way. "Moriah, currently owned by the wrong people" ???? God owns it all(!) but not all people "belong" to Him! Moriah is the site upon which Solomon built the temple for the Lord. Today, the believer is the temple of the Holy Spirit - how fitting to name a child Moriah. I kind of like to implications of "Moriah Grace. " Also consider Hannah - 1 Sam 1:20 - she prayed for a child and was blessed with Samuel. Ruth - she chose the Lord and His people over her own and became part of the lineage of Jesus Christ What about Abigail? She was a woman of courage and wisdom as well as beauty and was able to discern God's way. Read about her in 1 Sam 25(Abby Gail also comes to mind) May God bless you in all your "expectations" and plans! mommapbs |

132 | Is hetero-anal sex a sin? | 2 Tim 2:20 | Mommapbs | 131906
Does this violate God's created design - he created some vessels for noble purposes (marital pleasure) and others for ignoble purposes, such as elmination of waste. I think that this pretty much answers MY question about this subject - what about you? mommapbs |

133 | did christ fear(of course w/o sin)? | Luke 22:44 | Mommapbs | 131733
Greetings and welcom to the Forum. Perhaps you are referring to the agony in the Garden - I do not believe Jesus was praying fervently out of fear, for fear is the absence of faith! He knew what was to take place and He went willingly on our behalf. It is my opinion that He was in agony because of what He knew He would have to endure, not just physical suffering, but the forsaking of the Father due to our sin. Blessings, mommapbs |

134 | must be ordained to preach the word | 1 John 4:1 | Mommapbs | 131596
LSmith: (Note, does your husband want to open a church or does God want to open a church? The answer to this question is of primary importance.) you have asked a similar question about ordination before and recieved a couple of responses - I have copied one here from Roger 459 for you to review: Jesus said you can preach without Ordination. Please see, Mark 9:38 and Luke 9:49,50. There is a Warning you must Heed in your Preaching and Teaching, it is James 3:1. One thing I have seen and heard in my walk in Christ, "That there are many 'ignorant brethern' who have ministries that are Biblically Unsound. They do not know the Hebrew of the OT and the Greek of the NT. They are Blind leaders of the Blind. IF it is your desire to Preach, you must be a Desciple of Christ, FIRST! You MUST Know the Word and have a Love for the Brethern, and a Greater Love for the Word. Use the guideliens in 1 and 2 Timothy, especially 2Tim 2:14-16! Thank you! mommapbs writes: Most of the time, the wife of a Pastor is seen as a co-laborer. Your husband is in seminary, preparing himself for the work that God has called him to. What about you? Are you seeking God's will for your life? If not,Godly discipline, perhaps even percieved as "criticism" is necessary. You stated that you were "trying to be a good Christian." From this and the questions you have asked on the Forum, might I suggest that you consider the possibility that God has not finished preparing you for what He is calling you to? First of all, no one "tries" to live the "Christian life." Jesus lives HIS life through us. He clearly states in John 15:5 - "Apart from Me, you can do nothing." Please don't take this as criticism, but consider these words as encouragement to get into the Word and allow God to speak to you there. Continue to ask questions of this Forum, but I urge you to seek out the mentorship of a mature Christian woman of God who will assist you in your spiritual development. You will need much Godly wisdom and direction as the wife of a possible future shepherd of God's flock. Blessings, mommapbs |

135 | love the NASB | John 7:8 | Mommapbs | 131586
Magnum44 - a few verses later we read that Jesus does indeed go up to the feast.(So what He has said is true, "My time has not yet fully come.") I'm a bit perplexed by the questions you ask - do I detect a "critical spirit" here? What is your intent? Are you attempting to "strain out a gnat?" mommapbs |

136 | What does chapter 1 mean? | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 131583
Bill, unless you have a SPECIFIC chapter of the Bible in mind, "chapter 1" has no meaning other than to enable readers to be directed to a specific portion of God's Word. If I read something in the Psalms, for example, and wanted to share it with you, it would take a long time for me to direct you to the exact location without the aid of chapters and verses. Think of chapters as route signs on your journey. May God bless you through the reading of His Word. "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." Romans 10:17 mommapbs |

138 | purpose of church anniversary | Phil 1:3 | Mommapbs | 129711
Greetings - there is no Biblical mandate to observe "church anniversarys" yet I suspect that when believers gather together to celebrate their union it is a way to express our gratitude to God for making this possible. See also 1 Peter 2:9 and Malachi 3:16. Blessings, mommapbs |

Greetings Country Girl - Perhaps Mr Perkins left the "action of baptism" out because it is not a "vital step in the Salvation process." (Eph 2:8-9) The issue of baptism has been discussed SO many times on this Forum and people are rarely moved from their perspective . . . perhaps if anyone is interested in this subject they could be directed to the archives. In Christ, mommapbs |
