61 | Know the lord? | 1 Sam 3:7 | Mommapbs | 141264
Greetings br2rns! The Hebrew word used in this verse is yada. It is also used in Gen 4:1 - Adam had relations (knew) his wife . . . this knowing is suggestive of intimacy; we might consider from this usage that knowing God refers to a spiritual intimacy. Most people know about God, but lack a relationship with Him. Samuel did not YET know the Lord. The word usage here suggests that knowing the Lord would take place. Again, the word yet is used in conjunction with God revealing Himself. We have no excuse - for not only does God want to be known, He reveals Himself to us (Romans 1) Note that it was the Lord who called Samuel (no one seeks after God on their own but it is God who seeks us!) God reveals Himself. Nothing has changed since this encounter and each of us has a choice to respond to the call of the Lord as Samuel did (Speak for your servant listens v 10)or we can go back to bed. From this I learn that God desires relationship with us and He reveals Himself to us in order to facilitate our response. God wants to be known, not just known about . . . God desires intimacy with us. How about you, do you "know" the Lord? Is your relationship with Him "intimate?" Blessings, mommapbs |

62 | A thought about the Flood | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 141090
Human remains or hominid types? Regardless of what scientists try to prove, only man was created in the image and likeness of God.(Gen 1:26) We have the fossil record to inform us of ALL of God's creation, but there is nothing in Scripture to support man's notion of evolution. Man was created to rule over all the living things that God created . . . even the hominid types of creatures that are being uncovered. Consider this! mommapbs |

63 | Did God experience what human did in O.T | Gen 1:26 | Mommapbs | 141073
Welcome to the Forum chair! First of all remember that with God all things are possible! Mt 19:26. Because man has been made in the image of God, acording to His likeness, it stands to reason that we share in the emotions of God, not the other way around! We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19 Blessings, mommapbs |

64 | What's your favorite Bible version? Why? | Deut 4:2 | Mommapbs | 140966
Happy New Year Kalos - I enjoy the NASB for personal study, "The Message" for pleasure reading, and "God's Word" for another perspective . . . I am not keen on the KJV or the NIV. I believe that we need to do more than "read"- we need to "chew" or meditate upon what God has revealed in His Word. When I read from different versions I often gain a different perspective which prompts me to seek God's counsel for ME in what I am reading. At times I suspect we tend to see what "others need" rather than what God wants to give US! And your preferred version is? Blessings, mommapbs PS: At times I wish I could read Greek - I'm thankful for members like Tim Moran here! |

67 | How Are We Reading Thru The Bible? | Ps 119:148 | Mommapbs | 140577
Greetings Searcher56 - This really irked me when our Pastor announced that as a congregation we were to follow a specified order of reading so that at the end of the year we all would have read the Bible through . . . this whole program of "reading through the Bible" is just that - a program. Is this glorifying to God? Does it honor Him or does it earn some kind of award for us? Motives of the heart comes to mind here . . . Prov 16:2 Blessings, mommapbs |

68 | Zealous for the law? Sacraficed? Noah? | Acts 21:24 | Mommapbs | 139879
MJH - What is the "question in your mind" about Paul, about those who are zealous for the law? I'm not quite sure what you are looking for. Are you suggesting that we disband our churches and go to synagogue? That we keep Kosher homes etc? I found another post in the archives by Kalos that might offer some insight for you: 113831 mommapbs PS: Could you provide OT chapter and verse that reference the Noahetic Covenant to support the 4 prohibitions you quote here:"they should abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols and from blood and from what is strangled and from unchastity."? Thanks |

69 | New believers zealous for LAW? | Acts 21:24 | Mommapbs | 139866
Greetings MJH - see post 58292 by Emmaus. What you were "told" is a legalist approach to faith. Where do you see that in God's Word? The Law was given as a "schoolmaster" (Gal 3:24)to lead us to the Perfect Attonement for our lawbreaking - Jesus. The practice of sacrifice for sin was done away with, yet we are told to continue to "sacrifice our bodies" Rom 12:1-2. Jesus told us that the Law and the prophets were dependant upon the greatest commandment Mt 22:36-40. See also Dt 30:6 - The Lord enables us to be obedient to His command. This also reaffirms what Jesus tells us in John 15:5 - Apart from Me you can do nothing - we cannot love God apart from Christ! What a gift we have been given - a new heart and the indwelling Christ! (Ex 36:26) Blessings, mommapbs |

75 | why was Isaiah a idealist | Acts 28:25 | Mommapbs | 139067
Tiesha - welcome to the Forum, this question prompts opinion and speculation. Imo, Isaiah was identified in Scripture as a "prophet" - As one who spoke for God, I suppose we could call him a realist - for God is all about reality - not wishful thinking. Man's choices resulted in consequences that fell far short of God's ideal, so I'd struggle a bit in identifying Isaiah as an "idealist." my 2 cents. mommapbs |

76 | your view | Matt 18:20 | Mommapbs | 138893
I think that God is pursuing your heart. Because it "stuck with you" I am reminded that God's Word doesn't return to Him with out accomplishing His purpose. God wants to have a love relationship with you - He loved you enough to make a way for you to respond to Him (Romans 5:8) God has given everyone an awareness of Him, (Romans 1) and by His prompting - beginning years ago, you have responded - be encouraged, God hasn't given up on you! Your life has not been wasted! I encourage you to seek Him through His Word and through the fellowship of others who believe in and choose to follow Jesus. Not all churches focus on Christ, find one that does! Who is Jesus to you? I'll be praying for you! mommapbs |

77 | still need to find this part of the bibl | Matt 18:20 | Mommapbs | 138876
Wasted, the passage in Matthew is the only one that I can find that refers to what you have requested. See also Mal 3:16: Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who esteem His name. IMO, the "lines" you are looking for may be the "problem" - we can't "re-capture" an experience with God, but we can recall them as a type of marker on our journey, ones that lead us in the right direction. God speaks in many ways to us, but mostly through His Word. Faith comes by hearing (which you "heard") and hearing by the Word of God - Jesus. Seek Him first. He is the ONLY One who can help you here! Doubt your doubts. mommapbs |

78 | Why did Jesus speak these words? | Luke 23:31 | Mommapbs | 138875
Little Ming - greetings - when you have a question about a verse, look for a green n beside it in context. This means that someone has discussed it before. Prayon wrote in a previous post: "I am led to understand that this is in relation to a proverb.Green wood does not normally burn, nor are innocent men executed. But if these things do happen now what will happen in the future? Another interpretation is if the innocent Jesus (green wood) suffered at the hands of the Romans what would happen to the guilty Jews (dry wood)?" Jesus is MORE than a prophet; He is God. Listen to Him. Today is the day of (opportunity)salvation, tomorrow may be too late. 2 Cor 6:2 See also Heb 3:7-19 Blessings, mommapbs |

80 | very important - can anyone help | Matt 18:20 | Mommapbs | 138871
Wasted, many people ignore God, even those who believe in Him. It is dangerous ground. Your screen name reveals the way many people also feel who come to recognize how they have ignored and rejected God's movement in their lives. You are not alone, just don't keep ignoring Him! God has a plan and purpose for your life. It is good you chose to "doubt yourself" and not God. Sometimes people miss God because they think He is in the way . . . when they choose to seek God, they will find that He IS the way. Blessings, mommapbs Jer 29:13 |
