Bible Question:
Scripture ... Hebrews 5:12-14 ... There are some, dare I say many, who encourage us to through the Bible in a year, even online sites. Is JUST reading through the Bible enough? I know at least one person who has read through the Bible several times, yet is only at the milk level. I do think we need to read through the Bible, but not as a textbook ... but with meditation ... and seeing how it fits the book of the Bible I am studying. Please comment. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Searcher56 - This really irked me when our Pastor announced that as a congregation we were to follow a specified order of reading so that at the end of the year we all would have read the Bible through . . . this whole program of "reading through the Bible" is just that - a program. Is this glorifying to God? Does it honor Him or does it earn some kind of award for us? Motives of the heart comes to mind here . . . Prov 16:2 Blessings, mommapbs |
