Bible Question:
Scripture ... Hebrews 5:12-14 ... There are some, dare I say many, who encourage us to through the Bible in a year, even online sites. Is JUST reading through the Bible enough? I know at least one person who has read through the Bible several times, yet is only at the milk level. I do think we need to read through the Bible, but not as a textbook ... but with meditation ... and seeing how it fits the book of the Bible I am studying. Please comment. |
Bible Answer: Deut. 17:19 (ESV) And it shall be with him, and he shall READ in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes, and doing them, Neh. 8:3,8 (ESV) And he READ from it facing the square before the Water Gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women and those who could understand. And the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law...They READ from the book, from the Law of God, clearly, and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading. Rev. 1:3 (KJV) Blessed is he that READETH, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. (Emphasis added.)
