1081 | Would his heart not be humbled? | Romans | Val | 192118
This verse is what came to my mind about teaching. To me it seemed that keeping it in perspective would be a good accountablity tool for anyone who teaches others.
1082 | Would his heart not be humbled? | Romans | Val | 192117
Is he concerned with his own glory? Only God knows the heart. Does he do so in a condescending way? Only his students would know. Does he do so as if he is the authority on scripture? We have heard that much knowledge puffs up so it is possible to fall into that trap. Does he approach it as if he is the only one who knows anything at all about God's word? A good teacher needs to be a good listener. What affect does pride have on his effectiveness to teach? Pride gives man glory not the Lord. It seems it would have an effect. Would his heart not be humbeled at what God has called him to do and be obedient, humbled and gracious in that calling? A worthy goal. |

1083 | Scripture alone? | James 1:5 | Val | 192114
2 Cor 11:3 But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ 1 Peter 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness.” NASB |

1 Cor 3:1 "And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ. 1 Cor 3:2 I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, 1 Cor 3:3 for you are still fleshly. For since THERE IS JEALOUSY AND STRIFE AMONG YOU, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men? 1 Cor 3:4 For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not mere men? 1 Cor 3:5 What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one. 1 Cor 3:6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. 1 Cor 3:7 So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. 1 Cor 3:8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. 1 Cor 3:9 For We ARE GOD'S FELLOW WORKERS; you are God's field, God's building. 1 Cor 3:10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But EACH MAN MUST BE CAREFULLY HOW HE BUILDS ON IT. 1 Cor 3:11 For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 3:12 Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 1 Cor 3:13 EACH MAN'S WORK WILL BECOME EVIDENT; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself WILL TEST THE QUALITY OF EACH MAN'S WORK. 1 Cor 3:14 If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a REWARD. 1 Cor 3:15 If any man's work is burned up, he will SUFFER LOSS; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 1 Cor 3:16 Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 1 Cor 3:17 If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are. 1 Cor 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you THINKS THAT HE IS WISE in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. 1 Cor 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, "He is THE ONE WHO CATCHES THE WISE IN THEIR CRAFTINESS"; 1 Cor 3:20 and again, "THE LORD KNOWS THE REASONINGS of the wise, THAT THEY ARE USELESS." 1 Cor 3:21 So then LET NO ONE BOAST IN MEN. For all things belong to you, 1 Cor 3:22 whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things belong to you, 1 Cor 3:23 and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God." NASB |

Luke 18:10 "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. Luke 18:11 "The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: 'God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 1 Kin 3:6 "Then Solomon said, "You have shown great lovingkindness to Your servant David my father, according as he walked before You in truth and righteousness and uprightness of heart toward You; and You have reserved for him this great lovingkindness, that You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day." 1089 | Ephesian 1:1-12 | Eph 1:5 | Val | 192069
2 Peter 1:1 "Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ: 2 Pet 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; 2 Pet 1:3 seeing that HIS DIVINE POWER HAS GRANTED TO US EVERYTHING PERTAINING TO LIFE AND GODLINESS, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 2 Pet 1:4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. 2 Pet 1:5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, 2 Pet 1:6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, 2 Pet 1:7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. 2 Pet 1:8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Pet 1:9 For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins. 2 Pet 1:10 Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you PRACTICE THESE THINGS, you will never stumble; 2 Pet 1:11 for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you. 2 Pet 1:12 Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you. 1095 | who are the 144000 | Revelation | Val | 192036
Revelation 7:1 “After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, so that no wind would blow on the earth or on the sea or on any tree. Rev 7:2 And I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, having the seal of the living God; and he cried out with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, Rev 7:3 saying, "Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees until we have sealed the bond-servants of our God on their foreheads." Rev 7:4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel: Rev 7:5 from the tribe of Judah, twelve thousand were sealed, from the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand, from the tribe of Gad twelve thousand, Rev 7:6 from the tribe of Asher twelve thousand, from the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand, from the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand, Rev 7:7 from the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand, from the tribe of Levi twelve thousand, from the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand, Rev 7:8 from the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand, from the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand, from the tribe of Benjamin, twelve thousand were sealed. Rev 7:9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands; Rev 7:10 and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb." Rev 7:11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, Rev 7:12 saying, "Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen." Rev 7:13 Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, "These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?" Rev 7:14 I said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Rev 7:15 "For this reason, they are before the throne of God; and they serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them. Rev 7:16 "They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat; Rev 7:17 for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes." Jeremiah 30:1 "The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Jer 30:2 "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'Write all the words which I have spoken to you in a book. Jer 30:3 'For behold, days are coming,' declares the LORD, 'when I will restore the fortunes of My people Israel and Judah.' The LORD says, 'I will also bring them back to the land that I gave to their forefathers and they shall possess it.'" Jer 30:4 Now these are the words which the LORD spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah: Jer 30:5 "For thus says the LORD, 'I have heard a sound of terror, Of dread, and there is no peace. Jer 30:6 'Ask now, and see If a male can give birth. Why do I see every man With his hands on his loins, as a woman in childbirth? And why have all faces turned pale? Jer 30:7 'Alas! for that day is great, There is none like it; And it is the time of Jacob's distress, But he will be saved from it. Jer 30:8 'It shall come about on that day,' declares the LORD of hosts, 'that I will break his yoke from off their neck and will tear off their bonds; and strangers will no longer make them their slaves. Jer 30:9 'But they shall serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them. Jer 30:10 'Fear not, O Jacob My servant,' declares the LORD, 'And do not be dismayed, O Israel; For behold, I will save you from afar And your offspring from the land of their captivity. And Jacob will return and will be quiet and at ease, And no one will make him afraid. Jer 30:11 'For I am with you,' declares the LORD, 'to save you; For I will destroy completely all the nations where I have scattered you, Only I will not destroy you completely. But I will chasten you justly And will by no means leave you unpunished.' Jer 30:12 "For thus says the LORD, 'Your wound is incurable And your injury is serious. Jer 30:13 'There is no one to plead your cause; No healing for your sore, No recovery for you. Jer 30:14 'All your lovers have forgotten you, They do not seek you; For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, With the punishment of a cruel one, Because your iniquity is great And your sins are numerous. Jer 30:15 'Why do you cry out over your injury? Your pain is incurable. Because your iniquity is great And your sins are numerous, I have done these things to you. Jer 30:16 'Therefore all who devour you will be devoured; And all your adversaries, every one of them, will go into captivity; And those who plunder you will be for plunder, And all who prey upon you I will give for prey. Jer 30:17 'For I will restore you to health And I will heal you of your wounds,' declares the LORD, 'Because they have called you an outcast, saying: "It is Zion; no one cares for her."' Jer 30:18 "Thus says the LORD, 'Behold, I will restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob And have compassion on his dwelling places; And the city will be rebuilt on its ruin, And the palace will stand on its rightful place. Jer 30:19 'From them will proceed thanksgiving And the voice of those who celebrate; And I will multiply them and they will not be diminished; I will also honor them and they will not be insignificant. Jer 30:20 'Their children also will be as formerly, And their congregation shall be established before Me; And I will punish all their oppressors. Jer 30:21 'Their leader shall be one of them, And their ruler shall come forth from their midst; And I will bring him near and he shall approach Me; For who would dare to risk his life to approach Me?' declares the LORD. Jer 30:22 'You shall be My people, And I will be your God.'" Jer 30:23 Behold, the tempest of the LORD! Wrath has gone forth, A sweeping tempest; It will burst on the head of the wicked. Jer 30:24 The fierce anger of the LORD will not turn back Until He has performed and until He has accomplished The intent of His heart; In the latter days you will understand this. " NASB |

Isaiah 25:1 "O LORD, You are my God; I will exalt You, I will give thanks to Your name; For You have worked wonders, Plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness. Is 25:2 For You have made a city into a heap, A fortified city into a ruin; A palace of strangers is a city no more, It will never be rebuilt. Is 25:3 Therefore a strong people will glorify You; Cities of ruthless nations will revere You. Is 25:4 For You have been a defense for the helpless, A defense for the needy in his distress, A refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat; For the breath of the ruthless Is like a rain storm against a wall. Is 25:5 Like heat in drought, You subdue the uproar of aliens; Like heat by the shadow of a cloud, the song of the ruthless is silenced. Is 25:6 The LORD of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples on this mountain; A banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow, And refined, aged wine. Is 25:7 And on this mountain He will swallow up the covering which is over all peoples, Even the veil which is stretched over all nations. Is 25:8 He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces, And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; For the LORD has spoken. Is 25:9 And it will be said in that day, "Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited; Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation." Is 35:1 The wilderness and the desert will be glad, And the Arabah will rejoice and blossom; Like the crocus Is 35:2 It will blossom profusely And rejoice with rejoicing and shout of joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, The majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They will see the glory of the LORD, The majesty of our God. Is 35:3 Encourage the exhausted, and strengthen the feeble. Is 35:4 Say to those with anxious heart, "Take courage, fear not. Behold, your God will come with vengeance; The recompense of God will come, But He will save you." Is 35:5 Then the eyes of the blind will be opened And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. Is 35:6 Then the lame will leap like a deer, And the tongue of the mute will shout for joy. For waters will break forth in the wilderness And streams in the Arabah. Is 35:7 The scorched land will become a pool And the thirsty ground springs of water; In the haunt of jackals, its resting place, Grass becomes reeds and rushes. Is 35:8 A highway will be there, a roadway, And it will be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean will not travel on it, But it will be for him who walks that way, And fools will not wander on it. Is 35:9 No lion will be there, Nor will any vicious beast go up on it; These will not be found there. But the redeemed will walk there, Is 35:10 And the ransomed of the LORD will return And come with joyful shouting to Zion, With everlasting joy upon their heads. They will find gladness and joy, And sorrow and sighing will flee away. Is 64:1 Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down, That the mountains might quake at Your presence-- Is 64:2 As fire kindles the brushwood, as fire causes water to boil-- To make Your name known to Your adversaries, That the nations may tremble at Your presence! Jer 3:18 "In those days the house of Judah will walk with the house of Israel, and they will come together from the land of the north to the land that I gave your fathers as an inheritance. Jer 3:19 "Then I said, 'How I would set you among My sons And give you a pleasant land, The most beautiful inheritance of the nations!' And I said, 'You shall call Me, My Father, And not turn away from following Me.' " NASB |

Luke 2:25 And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him. Luke 2:26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. Luke 2:27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to carry out for Him the custom of the Law, Luke 2:28 then he took Him into his arms, and blessed God, and said, Luke 2:29 "Now Lord, You are releasing Your bond-servant to depart in peace, According to Your word; Luke 2:30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation, Luke 2:31 Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples, Luke 2:32 A LIGHT OF REVELATION TO THE GENTILES, And the glory of Your people Israel." Luke 2:33 And His father and mother were amazed at the things which were being said about Him. 1 John 2:8 On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining. 1 John 2:9 The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now. 1 John 2:11 But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes. |
