102 | how many times the bible say do not fear | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 222651
Instead of giving you the answer (which is over 50 times in the NASB, I will tell you how to get the answer. Go to the website www.biblegateway.com Type in the phrase you want to find in the search box, put place the phrase in quotes, this way it has to match what you are looking for exactly. Then select the translation you want to search in, which I believe the default is the NIV. It will bring up a dozen or so verses for you, but at the bottom of the list there is a hyperlink to see more. Select that and then you can scroll through and see how many verses (I changed my page layout from 25 verses to 500 verses). Brad |

103 | fish tattoo | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 222705
If you use the search feature on the right hand side of this website, you will see the word "tattoo" only appears one time in the Bible Lev 19:28 'You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the LORD. The Ichthys (which has meaning also) has played an interesting part of church history and contains various meanings depending on who you ask. As far as the Bible, I don't remember anyone being tattooed with a fish although I have hooked myself a few times fishing if that counts. Brad |

104 | sins of the father | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 222708
First, I want to encourage you to find a local church that you can attend. This forum is an awesome tool, but it can’t replace the relationship you build in a church and having someone that you can talk to face-to-face and a minister you can seek Godly counsel from. I don’t by any means want to devalue this forum, it is a great tool and one that can help every believer and non-believer dig deeper into the Word, but in Hebrews 10:25 we are encouraged together with one another. You asked about generational sins, which the following information is taken from gotquestion.org “The Bible mentions “generational curses” in several places (Exodus 20:5; 34:7; Numbers 14:18; Deuteronomy 5:9). It sounds unfair for God to punish children for the sins of their fathers. However, this is looking at it from an earthly perspective. God knows that the effects of sin are passed down from one generation to the next. When a father has a sinful lifestyle, his children are likely to have the same sinful lifestyle as well. That is why it is not unjust for God to punish sin to the third or fourth generation – because they are committing the same sins their ancestors did. But they are being punished for their own sins, not the sins of their ancestors. The Bible specifically tells us that God does not hold children accountable for the sins of their parents (Deuteronomy 24:16). There is a trend in the church today to try and blame every sin and problem on some sort of generational curse. This is not biblical. The cure for generational curses is salvation through Jesus Christ. When we become Christians, we are new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17). How can a child of God still be under God’s curse (Romans 8:1)? The cure, then, for a “generational curse” is faith in Christ and a life consecrated to Him (Romans 12:1-2).” www.gotquestions.org/generational-curses.html Hopefully others will be able to expound on this topic further, but I would really encourage you to get into a local church that can provide you the support and help that we all need for a day-to-day walk with Christ. 105 | Translate Rev 5:10 accurately please | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 222746
I don't know Greek, but I can help (maybe) with your question. The problem doesn't lie with the Greek translation, but with which version was used. If you look at the modern translations (for this example I picked the NKJV) and the footnotes help explain the difference in the translations. 10 And have made us[d] kings[e] and priests to our God; And we[f] shall reign on the earth.” (NKJV) d.Revelation 5:10 NU-Text and M-Text read them. e.Revelation 5:10 NU-Text reads a kingdom. f.Revelation 5:10 NU-Text and M-Text read they. Additionally, if you refer to Rev 1:6, that will hopefully add additional clarity. Brad |

First, are you Christian? I noticed in the past that you stated you are Hindu. I know that without my salvation and the strength in the Lord, I would not be able to accomplish the things that I have done. Eph 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. (ESV) Brad |

108 | Lazy man | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 222803
Well, the first thing that comes to mind is James 2:19 where even the demons believe in God. Jas 2:19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe--and shudder! I will not pretend to know much about the Hindu religion. I know it is very complex and centers around (if I remember correctly) Brahman. Is there a difference between Hindu and Christianity? Yes! Here is a link http://www.gotquestions.org/Hindu-Christian.html to discussing some differences between the two. Maybe someone on this forum with more knowledge on the Hindu religion can share more information. Ultimately, until you make Jesus Lord of your life, peace can be an impossible thing to find. Brad |

Paula, I'm assuming that you read the terms of service and you are over the age of 18 as per the TOS this question comes because our past VBS have been for kids from 6 to 13. As for as telling Doc to keep his comments to himself, he was trying to save you and us wasted time. The members of this forum do not mind helping those search out answers, yet when a poster doesn't take time to thoroughly post the question, it is a waste of everyone's time. Doc was kind enough to give you the name and verse for your previous question, where as I would only give you the book the answer was found in (does one good to search out the answer on his/her own). I think you should reconsider your answer to Doc and remember as Christians we are treat each other as Christ has treated us. Brad |

Enoch is not in the cannonized Scriptures unless you are a member of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church which has the book of Enoch. From my quick searching, no one else has cannonized the Book of Enoch. Brad |

117 | Crusifixtion a sacrafice? John 3:16 | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 223560
The first question I have for you, how much do you look forward to your own death? If you are a Christian, you know it is only a temporal death, yet many still do not look forward to the end. Your body will fight to stay alive as long as it can. With that being said, when you die, you are not taking on the sins of the WHOLE world; you aren't even taking on your sins. Christ, who was without sin, took on everyone’s sin. I don't think we can even imagine what that would be like. His death "only lasted three days". Let me place you in a totally dark room, void of everything except the walls that are keeping you in and see how long three days feels like to you. Ultimately, the most important part, the Son of God, who knew no sin, became sin, so that we could be found acceptable to the Father. He did what we couldn’t do and paid the price by taking on the sin that we can't get rid of on our own. He willing accepted my wickedness on His perfect state so that I might be redeemed. Christ bears the scars from that day (John 20:27) when HE took on the sins of the world. Brad |

118 | Crusifixtion a sacrafice? John 3:16 | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 223562
I will have to disagree with men that have been tortured in a much greater degree statement. Mark 15:34, shows a torture that none of us can understand. Even knowing death was a temporal matter for Christ, doesn't make the sacrifice any less significant to go through. The example that comes to mind is mother fiving birth to her child. The pain is tremendous, thankfully modern medicine has made this task easier on woman, yet none the less still struggle, even though they know it will only last for a short period of time. The length of time in the grave seems insignificant even though He knew that it was only for x days, months, or years (just like a mother giving birth will know it will only last x amount time). The sacrifice was the taking of His perfect state and making it imperfect by bearing the sins of those that couldn't. Yes, you were right I do get irritated and I forget at times, that Jesus doesn't need my help to defend Himself (Mat 26:53). Thank you for taking my comments in stride. Brad |

120 | Were do angel fear to tread? | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 223804
I don't believe the Bible states anything about this topic. I know the phrase was a title of a novel, the title of a 1991 movie, and title of a couple of albums/songs by various artist (little internet research). I can't think of any scripture that says angels are afraid to walk somewhere. Brad |
