103 | What does the bible say what happens to | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 230908
Old Testament, physical and spiritual death (Exodus 20:14) New Testament, spiritual death (no longer do we take people out and stone them). Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11 ESV) Thankfully, one has to remember God's saving grace is available to all sinners, even those that commit adultry. Brad |

104 | Jeremiah 14-the killing field, why? | Jeremiah | BMyers | 230816
Look in the middle of the chapter, verses 10-20 somewhere in there, that should explain your question. Also, you can access the Bible chapter over at the right of the forum or use the biblegateway.com Brad |

106 | was garden of eden in heaven | Genesis | BMyers | 230788
Genesis 2:4 is where I believe she is quoting. The NASB has a footnote (a.Genesis 2:4 Lit These are the generations) about the verse and the ESV translates it as "These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens. (Genesis 2:4 ESV)" Still not following her question though, but I think that is the verse she was referring to. |

107 | in a land where we'll never grow old | 1 Corinthians | BMyers | 230776
The song is Never Grow Old. In the previous post, it depends on how you define age. I Corinthians 15, discusses being changed from perishable to imperishable, which is one of the factors that we all use to determine our age. Brad |

108 | will we grow old in heaven | 1 Corinthians | BMyers | 230774
Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” (1 Corinthians 15:51-54 ESV) In my mind, growing old has to do with aging of the body and the deterioration of it. In that mindset, no we won't grow old. Brad |

109 | is david soloman's father? | 1 Chronicles | BMyers | 229406
[Descendants of David] [3:1] These are the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron: the firstborn, Amnon, by Ahinoam the Jezreelite; the second, Daniel, by Abigail the Carmelite, [2] the third, Absalom, whose mother was Maacah, the daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur; the fourth, Adonijah, whose mother was Haggith; [3] the fifth, Shephatiah, by Abital; the sixth, Ithream, by his wife Eglah; [4] six were born to him in Hebron, where he reigned for seven years and six months. And he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem. [5] These were born to him in Jerusalem: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan and Solomon, four by Bath-shua, the daughter of Ammiel; [6] then Ibhar, Elishama, Eliphelet, [7] Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, [8] Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet, nine. 112 | hell | 2 Pet 3:9 | BMyers | 228361
First, I’m making the assumption that you believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Without this belief, a person can say the Bible is made up so anything in the Bible could have just been put there for ulterior motives. Since your question isn’t about the inspiration of the Bible, but Hell, I will try to address that. The word ‘hell’ appears 14 times in the NIV Bible, 13 times in the NASB, and 14 times in the ESV Bible. The translated word ‘hell’ is based off of three different words in the New Testament. These are geenna/Gehenna, hades/Hades, and tartaroo/Tartaros. The English versions of the Bible have translated these terms as ‘hell’ in most places (some use the Greek word). You will find that Jesus discussed ‘hell’ (Gehenna) in Matthew, Mark, and Luke (Luke 16:23 the word is ‘Hades’). In addition, James and 2 Peter mentions ‘hell’. Reading the various verses/passages regarding ‘hell’ in the New Testament shows that ‘hell’ is a very real place and not just some story made up to draw people into church. Brad |

114 | how many horses did Solomon have?? | 1 Kings | BMyers | 228061
It might help if I would quote the correct verse also 1 Kings 4:26, not 5:26. So for the mistype. 1Ki 4:26 Solomon also had 40,000 stalls of horses for his chariots, and 12,000 horsemen. |

115 | how many horses did Solomon have?? | 1 Kings | BMyers | 228057
1 Kings 5:26 states he had 40,000 stalls of horses. Now I'm not a horseman or a cowboy, but I would believe we could make a safe assumption that he had at least 40,000 horses and depending on the size of the stalls maybe more. Brad |

117 | why is Jehovah's associated with the alm | Jer 1:11 | BMyers | 227868
I'm taking a guess here and maybe someone else can answer this in more detail or correct me if I'm wrong. I believe the answer is from Jeremiah 1:11-12. According to the notes in two of my study Bibles (NASB Zondervan Study Bible and ESV Study Bible), the almond tree is the first to bloom and is said to "watch for spring". Also, the word almond tree and watchful sound close in the Hebrew language (again from the notes). A reference is made how the almond tree is ever watchful for the first sign of spring and so is the Lord watchful and ready for the first opportunity. Brad |

Makarios answered your question once, is there something else you are looking for? Maybe a little more detail would be helpful. God is all knowing, we are not, so more information is always helpful. If you want the literal definition, open up Webster and look up the word. Brad |

119 | first indication of the holy spirit | 2 Tim 2:15 | BMyers | 227508
You know BradK, if those researching God's Word would just ACTS upon the assignment, most answers would only take one or TWO tries to research it and the answers would come RUSHING in like a mighty WIND filling them with knowledge. Yet, further research may even prove there is more to the answer than a riddle spoken in other TONGUES. The blessings students are missing by not doing their own research. Brad |

120 | what does it mean when god give new name | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 227439
Okay, it was amusing the first three times that three different people posted the exact same question, which leads one to believe that this is a homework question. Now it is concerning that we have so many people trying to complete their homework online instead of doing the research on their own. There is a reason that homework is given and getting the right answer is only part of the purpose. Brad |
