41 | temptation n spiritual attack on pastors | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 203643
A pastor is no different than any other man when it comes to temptation. I think if you look through history, you will find pastors have fallen for just about any reason that every other man has fallen. Just my 2 cents. Brad |

(2Ti 2:15 ESV) Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. (Pro 2:10 ESV) for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; (Pro 8:10 ESV) Take my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold, (Col 3:20 ESV) Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. (Pro 1:22 ESV) "How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge? |

I think you are looking for Bible verses against homosexuality. 1Co 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, Lev 18:22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. Rom 1:26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; Rom 1:27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. |

46 | Married womens last name | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 209112
I don't know of a verse that says anything about taking the last name. I think that is based more on custom. The only verse that comes to mind is Gen 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. you might be able to make a stretch that keeping the name is not leaving her parents. I think that would be a long stretch and I don't think it would be Biblically correct. |

48 | A difficult question | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 210520
I have found researching the Bible to be a fascinating and faith building study. Being raised in a Christian home, I just always took it for a fact the Bible was God’s Word and never crossed my mind to think anything less. As I grew older, I found myself like you, unable to answer the questions that were proposed to me about the Bible and the origin of it. I read several books on the Bible and the history of Christianity. The more I learned about the Bible and how it has come to exist in its modern format, the more confidence I have in it. Here is a few of the book I have read on the Bible What is the Bible All About? Halley’s Bible Handbook How We Got the Bible |

49 | Most accurate translation of Bible? | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 210811
I thought I would toss in my two cents. I have both the NASB and the ESV. The ESV is easier to read than the NASB and I have bought the whole family their own ESV so we can all read out of the same version. The downside to the ESV, since it is newer translation there is a limited amount of additional resources built around the ESV (although the new ESV Study Bible is awesome!). As others have already stated, if accuracy is the number one goal, then the NASB is the 1st choice. ESV is good, but it is not number 1, that is held by the NASB. |

I don't remember a particular scripture that says when hell was created. Doing a little research on the word hell, shows that in the OT KJV translates Sheol and Hades as hell. In the Greek the word Gehenna is translated into hell (Gehenna means vale of Hinnom). OT there was children sacrifice going on in that location until King Josiah put an end to it in 2 Kings 23. In the NT it was a garbage dumb just outside of Jerusalem. All the waste was thrown there and burnt. As you can imagine there were maggots and other nasty bugs/creatures there consuming the waste. Hope that helps some, maybe someone that has researched the topic a little farther than I can enlighten both of us. (Eph 3:9 ESV) and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things, |

Here is my answer to those that try to claim they know when Christ will return. (Mar 13:32 ESV) "But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. (Mar 13:33 ESV) Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. Does that mean we stand here completely unprepared without any indication of when the Second Coming will occur? Nope. There are scriptures that give us an indication of things that will occur in the end time. How one interprets those scriptures greatly varies on what date is given that the Lord is going to return. As a Christian, the most important factor is that we are always prepared and anxiously waiting the return of Christ, rather it is today, tomorrow, or 100 years from now. (2Pe 3:9 ESV) The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. Don't worry about the date of the Second Coming, worry about the condition of your soul and the souls of those around you. (Mat 6:34 ESV)"Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. |

Webster Dictionary (I don't have my Bible ones with me at work) apostle: 1: one sent on a mission 2: a person who initiates a great moral reform or who first advocates an important belief or system 3: an ardent supporter Based on the Webster definition, I would say yes. Yet, now you get back into the whole debate in the other post, which I'm not going to duplicate here. Brad |

Tyre (From International Standard Bible Encyclopedia) tir (tsowr. tsor, "rock"' Turos, "Tyrus"; modern Sur): 1. Physical Features: The most noted of the Phoenician cities situated on the coast, lat. 33ø 17 minutes, about 20 miles South of Sidon and about 35 North of Carmel. The date of its foundation is uncertain, but it was later than that of Sidon. It is mentioned in the travels of the Egyptian Mohar, dating probably from the 14th century BC, and in the Tell el-Amarna Letters of about the same period. Herodotus describes the temple of Hercules at Tyre and says it was built 2,300 years before his time, which would carry back the beginning of the city to more than 2700 BC. It was a double city, one part on an island, a short distance from the shore, and the other on the mainland opposite. The island city had two harbors, connected by a canal, one looking North and the other South. The island was rocky and the city was fortitled on the land side by a wall 150 ft. high, the wall being of less elevation on the other sides. It was an exceedingly strong position, and is referred to in the Bible as the "strong" or "fortitled" city (Joshua 19:29). The space within the walls was crowded with buildings, and is said to have contained 40,000 inhabitants. The town on the mainland was situated in a plain extending from the Ras el-'Abyad, on the South to Sarepta on the North, a distance of about 20 miles. It was fertile and well watered, the river Leontes (Litany) passing through it to the sea, about 5 miles N. of Tyre, and the copious fountain of Ras el-'Ain, 3 miles to the South, furnishing an abundant supply both for the city and the gardens. |

I'm answering this quickly, which has traditionally been a mistake for me, but working long hours has allowed a minimal amount of time to post or research topics. My answer (remember this is my answer, not researched, nor studied) is that Tyre is not where Satan was casted down to. The quick reason, Satan was cast down prior to the town of Trye being established (hence Satan was in the garden of Eden). Sorry my thoughts can't be more in depth, but have to get back to the jobsite. Brad |
