goldenc1, Answer for question 2); (16-17) A prayer for the Thessalonians a. Before Paul asks God to do something specific for the Thessalonians, he remembers all God has done for them: loved them, giving them everlasting consolation and good hope by grace i. In our intercession and petition, we do well to remember God's past faithfulness and present blessing; His faithfulness in the past is a promise of His faithfulness for the future b. Paul asks for God to do two things in the Thessalonians: that He would comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work; comfort and continued testimony and work for Jesus are two special needs for believers under pressure. 102 | Is baptism a work? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 66383
It is written, GOD IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF CONFUSION-1 Cor 14:33. There are many religions and traditions that contradict God’s Word. It was the same in the days of Jesus. Do not place your hope in a religion, but place it in the Bible. Do not follow stories that some people tell, which may cause you to err from the truth. Some say that you do not have to be baptized, because the prisoner that hung on the cross next to Jesus was not baptized. We note the command to be baptized, given in Mk 16:16 and Acts 2:38 and others, came after Jesus rose from the dead. The prisoner died before Jesus rose from the grave. How could he have been baptized into the death and resurrection of Jesus, when Jesus had not yet been buried or risen from the dead? He also died before the Holy Ghost was given. It is written: THE HOLY GHOST WAS NOT YET GIVEN-Jn 7:39; ref 20:22. Some say that Paul was not sent to baptize, and this is true; but his followers did the baptizing. Some might say because Mk 16:16 does not repeat the word baptize in the second part of the verse that it means it is not mandatory. Let’s read Mk 16:16-HE THAT BELIEVETH AND IS BAPTIZED SHALL BE SAVED; BUT HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT SHALL BE DAMNED. Some have asked why Jesus did not say, "He that believeth not and is baptized not?" The answer is, because we are baptized into the death and resurrection of Jesus. You cannot be baptized into One in whom you do not believe. Thus, to say HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT, "and is baptized not" would be incorrect. For if you do not believe on Jesus, it is not possible to be baptized into His death and resurrection. Therefore, if a person does not believe, no biblical baptism exists. Some would say that water baptism is symbolic only; thus, it is not necessary. It is far more than symbolic as the Scriptures are showing us. This is why Satan fights so hard against baptism. This is why Satan tries to cause so much confusion about water baptism and is succeeding. Some say that water baptism is not necessary as it is a form of works. Satan is a liar. Do not let him deceive you. Obey God’s Word. God bless - need more info, let me know. Blessed be the Name of our Lord. |

103 | Accountable for every commandment? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 66425
Greetings Charis, And as you probably know, words have meanings. You stated; "As you probably know, "I think" that every believer should be baptized." I don't want to assume anything, so do you "think" or do you "know" that every believer should be baptized! Because, if you "know" then you know that santification follow salvation. You know that there is no perfect Christian, but through all things God builds our character, to reflect that of Christ. Let me know if you "think" or do you "know", and this is not a play on words, this way I can answer you more direct. Thanks, and God bless |

Eph 1:11, In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will. As you can see, you were not born on earth with no choice, God planned you. He created you to be a member of His family, but each one of us has gone our way. Isaiah 53 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. God loves you my friend, so much so that He sent His only Son to redeem you. John 3:16. God is not against you, read Jeremiah 29:11-13. The questions you are asking, are the same ones that I had asked also, you see we are all seeking the answer to why we are here on earth. God answered us in His written Word, the Bible. Give your life to God today, repent of your sins, through His Son Jesus, ask Him to be the Lord and Savior of your life. He will come into your life, and change that name, CONFUSING, and give you a name with meaning, and put it in the Book of Life! God bless |

107 | Is the request of Christ Granted? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 70620
Johnny, Jesus condemned him. Jesus, who fulfilled the role of Prophet, as well as Priest, King, and Savior, was the herald of God, pronouncing curses and blessings as the Old Testament prophets did. He would say, "Blessed are..." for the Beatitudes and later curse the Impenitent Cities saying, "Woe to..." (see Matt. 5:3-11; 11:20-24; and Luke 6:20-26.) He answered them and said, "He who dipped his hand with Me in the dish will betray Me. The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born." Then Judas, who was betraying Him, answered and said, "Rabbi, is it I?" He said to him, "You have said it."- Matt. 26:23-25 Would God say, "It would have been good...if he had not been born," about one who would be destined for heaven? Certainly not! Jesus didn't acknowledge him to God. The events that happened at Gethsemane offer a prime example of God's honor; He lives up to His Word. Matt. 10:32, 33 - Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. Judas not only denied Jesus by refusing His authority as a Rabbi and attempting to rob His liberty (both by the act of betrayal), he rejected Christ's deity. In turn Jesus rejected Judas in His prayers to His Father, calling him the son of perdition, which means damnation. John 17:12 - Those whom you gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. Judas was condemned. His repentance was not true to God; he denied the Lord Jesus Christ; he hung himself and fulfilled Scriptural prophecy. The LORD has made all for Himself, Yes, even the wicked for the day of doom. Proverbs 16:4 |

109 | When or should we avoid unbelievers? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 71201
dat, It is good to mix with unbelievers to love and convert them. If you can convert them, then you can happily yoke together. We should sometimes revisit people even if they don't believe at first, as conversion can take time. Back in the time of Christ the tax collectors or publicans were considered evil and part of the world. Jesus indicated they were sick and needed converting. The disciples who were tax collectors gave their professions away to do God's work. Matthew 9: 9 And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him. 10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? 12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. 13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. It must have been widely known that it was wrong to work for a corrupt system in Jesus' time. The Pharisees must have thought that it was so bad to be a tax collector that they had no hope of salvation, and that Jesus should stay away from them as if they had no hope of being saved. Tax collectors were still needed as God said to pay taxes but it seemed that it was not for Christians to become tax collectors. Jesus did the right thing by loving and mixing with sinners and tax collectors for the purpose of converting them. But he did not yoke, work and stay with the same people if they did not believe. Jesus and the Apostles moved on if people did not believe, and met other people, trying to convert them. However, the false church of today is wrongfully encouraging people to live or work with the same unbelievers and work with and for a corrupt system, which is now far worse than it was in the time of the Pharisees. Many of the so-called Christians today could be seen by Jesus as being much sicker than the tax collectors. |

110 | is jesus god? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 72394
Is Jesus God? The Historical Dispute Is Jesus God? The answer to this question is the only real dispute surrounding the historical Jesus. No legitimate scholar today denies that Jesus is a historic figure that walked on this earth about 2,000 years ago, that he did remarkable wonders and acts of charity, and that He died a horrible death on a Roman cross just outside Jerusalem. The emotionally-charged dispute focuses specifically on whether Jesus was God incarnate who rose from the dead three days after His Crucifixion. Is Jesus God? The Only Alternatives Is Jesus God? Many people have dealt with this "spiritual" dispute by intellectually accepting Jesus as a great man, great teacher, or great prophet. However, Jesus didn't mince words, He declared Himself God (John 10:30, John 14:6). Therefore, any type of intellectual compromise calling Jesus a "good man" is logically inconsistent. Why? Because there are really only three legitimate alternatives for the identity of Jesus Christ. He is either a liar, a lunatic or our Lord and God. Since Jesus claimed to be God, His claims are either true or false. If false, He must have been a liar, deliberately misleading the multitudes. Or, He was a lunatic, sincerely believing Himself to be God, when in reality He was just a man. However, if Jesus was a "good man," as most people now agree, how then could He be both good and crazy, or good and a liar? There is only one logically consistent alternative - He must have been telling the truth. In addition to the logical inconsistency, the remarkable historical, archaeological and manuscript evidence shows that Jesus was neither a liar nor a lunatic. Again, the only position left is that His claim is true. Jesus is Lord and God. Is Jesus God? The Only Answer Is Jesus God? Once you have asked all your questions, weighed all the evidence, and tested all the arguments, you will ultimately be confronted with this question. In Mathew 16:15, Jesus put it this way, 'But who do you say that I am?' One of His disciples, Simon Peter, replied: 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' What is your reply? |

Damascus, here are but a few; Luke 2:40 And the little child [Jesus] grew and became strong, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon Him. Col. 2:3 In whom [Christ] all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden. Psalms 1:1-2 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. Psalms 119:32 I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free. Psalms 119:9-11 How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Ecclesiastes 12:13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. John 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. The Bible is all this and more. This is why the wise person sets himself to knowing and obeying God's word. Jesus said: If you love me, you will obey what I command. John 14:15 God bless |

112 | What do you think of this great mystery? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 79575
Hi Ray! He that is joined to the Lord is one spirit (1 Cor. 6: 17). We are united to Christ. And oh, what a revelation it gives us of the nearness and the intimacy into which we are brought with Him! For we are made to know that we are one with Himself, that whatever touches us touches Him (see Acts 9: 4); and therefore that we are inseparably, indissolubly, connected with Himself forever. The same bond, then, that unites us to Christ, unites us also to all believers; for the same Spirit that unites us to Christ has united us also one to another. This is what is meant by "the unity of the Spirit" (Eph. 4: 3); i.e., the unity of all the members of Christ which has been formed on the earth by the Spirit of God. 1 Cor. 12, you will see the wonderful character of our mutual relationships, arising out of our being members one of another. You can read the passage from the 12th to the 27th verse, at your leisure; it is carefully insisted upon that "the body is not one member, but many"; and that every member has its own place in the body. Just some thoughts.... God Bless |

114 | # of Apostles? 12 and Paul? or more? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 83369
JodiCF "Surely everyone will agree that there were 12 original apostles. They are mentioned by name in several places including Acts, the first chapter. Because one of those apostles, Judas Iscariot, betrayed Christ and later hanged himself (Matt. 27:5), it became necessary to select a replacement. The Acts account states that Matthias was the one selected by God (Acts 1:26) to replace Judas. The list of named apostles of Christ now totaled 13 in the New Testament. "In the 12th chapter of Acts, we learn that James, the son of Zebedee, one of the original apostles, was killed by King Herod (verse 2). There was another James among the original 12, the son of Alphaeus, who apparently is not mentioned after Acts 1:13. "Continuing in the 12th chapter of Acts, we learn from verse 17 that after James was killed, another James remained." "Who this other James was is explained in Galatians 1:19, 'But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.' This James, who was a half brother of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, is in this place called an apostle. This brings the number to 14 named apostles." "The next apostles' names in Acts are mentioned in chapter 14." "Who were these apostles? The previous chapter (13), verse 50, identifies them as Paul and Barnabas. This now brings our total to 16 named apostles. Lest there be any question about Paul and Barnabas, notice also Acts 14:14." God bless |

115 | cristian can i bieng a man look | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 83593
Yes, you can look at a women without feeling guilty! Or maybe being a womanizer was a past issue and it's now being worked through. Lust and looking, what's the difference? Looking is viewing a person as God's creation and lust is viewing a person as an object for your own sexual desires. This is a very good question because when I was living in sin, a woman that was dressed to get attention, was hard for me not to look and wonder what the possibilities might be, but now as a Christian I had to work on the lust issues in my life and the consequences of adultry, the end result of sin is death, but life is comes through our Lord and Savior, Jesus! Here is some added info for Aquila and Priscilla: In the Acts 18 passage we read together, Aquila and Priscilla are an example of a marriage partnership which glorifies God. Aquila and Priscilla are always mentioned together - three times in scripture as Aquila and Priscilla - three times as Priscilla and Aquila - neither is placed on a higher pedestal and always together - a shared partnership. They were one in their relationship with Jesus Christ - knowing Him personally as their Savior - and all they accomplished together in the name of the Lord was the result of that unity of spirit and purpose. Both were Jews from Asia Minor - they share a common ancestry, culture, language, and background. They were originally from Pontus - and had been driven from their home by an edict of Claudius against the Jews. And so at the time of the Acts 18 account they are living in Corinth. Together they own a small tentmaking business sharing equally in the duties of their business. And, as with all aspects of their marriage, they were in the tent business first of all, for the glory of God. The tents are made of goat’s hair, sewn together with thread, seamed together - quality workmanship - and those who come to their shop - their customers - know them as honest and fair in their dealings. The Apostle Paul first met Aquila and Priscilla when he came to Corinth from Athens. For 18 months Paul lived in their home. Often we hear that "Paul was a tentmaker, while he preached in Corinth." It was in Aquila and Priscilla’s tent shop that he worked. Imagine - when they were not preaching and teaching - Paul, Aquila, and Priscilla sitting together - and as they plied their needles, fashioning or repairing tents - they shared their lives and faith. And anyone who came into that shop would hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ - and would see the reality of the Gospel demonstrated in their relationship together - their love for each other - and in the way they dealt with their customers. Aquila and Priscilla are partners together in ministry. They have opened up their home to be used for God’s glory - the church of Corinth meets and worships in there. Together they had a powerful impact on the life of Apollos. Remember Apollos? Apollos is the one who Paul refers to when he says, "I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth." (1 Corinthians 3:6) Apollos came to Corinth from Alexandria. He was well educated, cultured, and a powerful orator. But, with all his brilliance and eloquence, when Apollos first came to Corinth, he only knew part of the Gospel - the first part -the teaching of John the Baptist. What he was preaching was not in error - it was just incomplete. It was Aquila and Priscilla who took Apollos aside and shared with him the larger truth of redemption - the reality of salvation through Jesus Christ - crucified and alive. The result was Apollos’ powerful ministry - so dynamic that some in Corinth gave him higher regard than Paul and Peter. But, all that Apollos became he owed, under God, to the quiet instruction - the discipleship - of Aquila and Priscilla. Aquila and Priscilla had a tremendous part in the ministry of the Apostle Paul. When Paul left Corinth for Ephesus - they went with him. There they joined him in his ministry. During the great riots in Ephesus, Aquila and Priscilla risked their own lives to save Paul’s life. Later, they followed Paul to Rome and joined him in ministry there. Where would the ministry of Apollos have been, what would the ministry of Paul have been like - what if he had been martyred in Ephesus - only God knows how many were saved spiritually - how significant was the ministry of Aquila and Priscilla. The history of Christianity is filled with humble men and women like Aquila and Priscilla - inconspicuously working behind the scenes - focused on serving God - bringing glory to Him and not themselves. God bless |

119 | WHAT DOES CHPT6 VS 3 MEAN IN GENISIS | Genesis | inmyheart | 51601
Greetings, Genesis 6:3-4, God's response to this great wickedness God "first" promises that His Spirit shall not strive with man forever, this means that there is a "point of no return" in our rejection of God. God will not woo us forever, there's a point where He will say "no more" All the more reason for us to say that today is the day we will respond to Jesus, instead of waiting for another day. We have no promise that God will draw us then! Said that, to say this God also "promises" that "his days will be one hundred and twenty years," not that this is the outside life span of man, but that this is the time left until the flood! God bless you as you study God's word |

maydayjohn, The holy scripture designing by revealed religion to maintain and improve natural religion, to repair the decays of it and supply the defects of it, since the fall, for the reviving of the precepts of the law of nature, lays down, at first, this principle of the unclouded light of nature, That this world was, in the beginning of time, created by a Being of infinite wisdom and power, who was himself before all time and all worlds. The entrance into God's word gives this LIGHT. God's Word is the Light on the first day! |
