122 | God sanctions murder of the innocent? | Genesis | inmyheart | 161856
Hello, You stated in the last part of your post "People can argue that God really didn't mean for Abraham to kill Isaac, yet obviously Abraham killing Isaac would have been the right thing to do, so there is no difference." The difference is Abraham knew God would not kill his son, God is not a murderer. That's why he told the men that were traveling with him to wait for him, Gen 22:5 Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey, and I and the lad will go over there; and we will worship and return to you." Abraham did not say "we may or may not return!" God bless inmyheart |

123 | contradiction? | Genesis | inmyheart | 162145
Rats Feet, Make no mistake, he KNEW! Let's put it this way, God didn't just come up to Abraham one day and ask him to sacrifice his son, no, God demonstrated that Abraham could trust Him. If God could cause Abraham and Sara to have a baby in their nineties, then Abraham could trust God to provide a sacrafice. Abraham did not stagger at the promises of God. God bless inmyheart |

124 | Where is Abraham's test of faith? | Genesis | inmyheart | 162277
Let me see if I can put this another way for you to understand. Let's assume you go to the store and buy a light bulb, you get home and put it in your lamp, how do you know it's going to work? Well, before you bought the bulb the manufacturer tested it to make sure it would work! God, The Manufacturer, put a measure of faith in every man, God knows it works, and for man to know it works, God will test it. That's about it, I pray that all the information that you have received will bring the revelation you are looking for, and if you are still not sure, just meditate on it for awhile, it will come! How did you know you were going to be saved? By faith! God bless inmyheart |

126 | Is man today left with a simple choice? | Gen 2:17 | inmyheart | 65224
The law was a comprehensive whole made up of civil, moral, and ceremonial requirements. To break it at one point was to break it in its totality. Since man cannot measure up to the law’s lofty demands, it brings him face to face with his sin. In marked contrast to the law, grace is God’s unmerited favor. Through Christ, God provides for man what he could not provide for himself. Jesus came to pay a debt He didn’t owe because man owed a debt he couldn’t pay. Whether it was the Old Testament of law or the New Testament of grace, God has spoken. That in itself is an astounding and humbling reality. God was not obligated to speak. He was not our debtor. Man surely did not deserve a word from heaven. After all, we were sinful, disobedient, and at enmity with God. God has spoken with finality through His Son. It is a completed and perfect message. Nothing has to be added and nothing has to be changed. It simply has to be understood and obeyed. |

127 | Sexual Sin Follow up | Gen 2:18 | inmyheart | 161123
What's that term they use today, hooking-up! Where you do everything but have intercourse. My friend instead of you and your girlfriend trying to see how close you get to the actuall act, why don't you see how close you can get to God. If you do more of the "do's" you will not hve to worry about the "don'ts". Even Paul stated that he wished that all men were like him, but if you must marry then do so. If you are honest about your relationship then you and your girlfriend should get counseling, because this is not just about you, it's also about her. But thank you for being transparent and believe me you are not alone, there are many who are and have and will be in your shoes, and God is not up there with a bat ready to clobber you over your head, He loves you, and He allowed you to come to this site to get your answers, now it's up to you, choose to live! 128 | Why did god disallow the man to take... | Gen 3:22 | inmyheart | 59916
inheaveneyes, Your question has provoked me for a long time. I too was curious to the "what if," and I found this answer from David Guzik's commentary. It starts with Genesis 3:22 to 24. Thank you for helping me search for this answer. God bless (22-24) God sets cherubim to guard the Tree of Life a. Understanding the idea behind Behold, the man has become like one of us, to know good and evil is tough. Perhaps there is a note of sarcasm in God here (as Elijah used in 1 Kings 18:27) regarding Satan's empty promise to become like gods; or, perhaps the idea focuses on man's greater knowledge (though in a bad sense) now that he has the experiential knowledge of evil b. In mercy, God was protecting Adam and Eve from the horrible fate of having to live forever as sinners by prohibiting them from eating from the tree of life c. Did Adam and Eve want to stay in Eden? Perhaps they felt that if they left the garden, they might never see God again. It was the only place where they had met Him. d. Cherubim are always (Ezekiel 10, Isaiah 6, Revelation 4) are always associated with the presence and glory of God. When cherubim are represented of God. When cherubim are represented on earth (such as in the tabernacle, Exodus 25:10-22), they mark a meeting place with God. Though Adam and Eve and their descendants were prohibited from eating of the tree of life (by God's mercy), they could still come there to meet God. This was their "holy of holies" i. "Any angel of the lowest rank could have dealt with Adam. The flaming sword was pointed against Satan to keep him from destroying the way of access to the altar, which God had set up." (Barnhouse) e. God probably did not destroy the garden of Eden, but left it to the effects of the curse and it generally deteriorated from the its original condition, blending into the surrounding geography |

129 | How long did Adam and Eve live in Eden? | Gen 3:23 | inmyheart | 89443
We don't know how long Adam and Eve were in the Garden before they had to leave. Sadly, it doesn't seem like they were there for long. There are two clues. First, God commanded them to "be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth" (Genesis 1:28). This means they were to start having a family as soon as possible. And second, we don't read anything about the children of Adam and Eve until after they have left the Garden (Genesis 4:1-2). It takes about nine months for a human baby to develop. So they might have lived in the Garden for less than a year! The rest of the Bible is about God's wanting to get us back. He wants to be able to walk and talk with us just as He did with Adam and Eve in those wonderful days before sin came into the world. Our new home won't be the old Garden of Eden, because that was destroyed in the Flood. Instead, we can look forward to being in heaven where we can live with God forever (Revelation 22:1-5). God Bless |

132 | Does God send disasters as punishment? | Gen 18:20 | inmyheart | 83517
Actually Jesus Himself did comment on the kinds of disasters and accidents and tragedies that befall us in life. He gave a startling answer to the question "Why did God allow such a terrible thing to happen?" Luke 13 gives the account. Jesus was asked about a tragedy in the temple in Jerusalem when Pilate had brutally killed some devout Jewish worshipers at the time of the temple daily sacrifice, mingling their blood with that of the sacrificed animals: "...Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered thus? I tell you, No; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen upon whom the tower (under construction) in Siloam fell, and killed them all, do you think they were worse offenders than all the others who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, No; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." (Luke 13:1-5) The answer Jesus gave is very surprising. Jesus did not apologize for either incident. God had not lost control. Neither did He assign any blame. In a fallen world, innocent people suffer and die. There is no safe place in this present life. There are no guarantees. Jesus does not promise His followers good health, a long life, and material riches. It is more likely Christians will find trouble, adversity, opposition, and trials, but they will inherit the kingdom of God. The only sure refuge is one's relationship with God. Jesus said the most important thing in life was to repent--that is, to be in a right relationship with God at all times. "I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear him! Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. "And I tell you, every one who acknowledges me before men, the Son of man also will acknowledge before the angels of God; but he who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God. And every one who speaks a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you are to answer or what you are to say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say..." And he told them a parable, saying, "The land of a rich man brought forth plentifully; and he thought to himself, 'What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?' And he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.' But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul is required of you; and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." And he said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat, nor about your body, what you shall put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass which is alive in the field today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O men of little faith! And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be of anxious mind. For all the nations of the world seek these things; and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things shall be yours as well. "Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give alms; provide yourselves with purses that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Luke 12:2-34) God bless |

133 | Which commandments are written on our he | Exodus | inmyheart | 71147
rferg, The Spirit of God is known as Gods Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost that exists and lives forever. Holy means to put on also known as sanctified or anointed. It is the right Spirit doing good. It is what it is. It is the ruling feeling of God, the Personality of God, or way of God. The word of God was first written by God in the ten commandments which God wrote with his own finger. It listed ten things that we must do in order to go to heaven, and these ten commandments are comprised into two, the way we act towards God and the way we act towards one another. Jesus is known as the word of God that was made human to show us the way of God, and the way to God. Jesus said he is the way, the truth and the life. He said if you saw him, they saw God. He was not talking about his outwardly appearance or looks, he was identifying God's Spirit and God's Way (Spirit, Characteristics, Personality). God promised that he would write his laws into our hearts. These laws are also known as Gods way. This is done by having the Spirit of God, being in one accord with God. The way to God is Jesus, who is the first human manifestation (made known) of God. Jesus is also known as the Son of God because he was conceived in Mary of Gods Holy Spirit. Jesus said he would send the Spirit of Truth (Holy Spirit), and he said God has given him all authority in heaven and earth. When you are baptized and receive the Holy Spirit of God, you receive Jesus into your heart, who is the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, the characteristics of God, the personality of God, the Ruling Feeling. This is how God is with you, and how God fulfilled his promise to write his laws and commandments into our heart, and how God would be our God and we his children. This is also known as Emmanuel, meaning God with us, or anointed and sanctified. God bless |

134 | I want to know more about suicide? | Ex 20:13 | inmyheart | 73322
Angelface, But what does the Bible say about taking your own life? 1. God has a great plan for your life. God has created us in His image (Genesis 1:26-27). He created us for a purpose. God has a specific plan in mind for everyone. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11) 2. God's plan is for life, not death. The Bible teaches that both physical and spiritual death are the result of our sin and disobedience to God, but eternal life is a gift to those who receive it. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23) 3. Jesus taught that death and destruction are the work of "the thief" (Satan). He said, "The thief comes only to steal and destroy;" (John 10:10). John 8:44 says that Satan is a "murderer" and the "father of lies". The feelings of despair that lead to suicide are caused by some of his lies. 4. Jesus wants us to have life. He said: The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) 5. Life belongs to God. It is never our place to take our own life or someone else's life: Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own, you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Has this answered your question? God bless |

137 | is interacical marriage wrong biblecal | Numbers | inmyheart | 78765
Greetings, In the Old Testament, God commanded the Israelites not to intermarry with people of foreign nations, but we saw that "racial purity" was never the issue. The reason for this command was because the Israelites would turn from God and begin serving foreign gods, which is exactly what happened. In the New Testament, there is only one command concerning whom Christians can marry: A Christian must marry another Christian. When Christian marriages are mentioned in the New Testament, nothing is ever said about Christian husbands and wives being from the same race, the same skin color, the same nation, the same culture, etc. Based on all of this evidence, I don't see anything Scripturally wrong with interracial marriage among Christians.
