Bible Question: If the only way we can test whether someone or something is of Christ is by testing his actions against the Bible, then surely God commanding Abraham to kill Isaac is "ungodly"? If a rather person came to tell you that God had told him to tell you to kill your child, surely you would not believe he was "of God"? How can God sanction the murder of innocent people? People can argue that God really didn't mean for Abraham to kill Isaac, yet obviously Abraham killing Isaac would have been the right thing to do, so there is no difference. |
Bible Answer: Hello, You stated in the last part of your post "People can argue that God really didn't mean for Abraham to kill Isaac, yet obviously Abraham killing Isaac would have been the right thing to do, so there is no difference." The difference is Abraham knew God would not kill his son, God is not a murderer. That's why he told the men that were traveling with him to wait for him, Gen 22:5 Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey, and I and the lad will go over there; and we will worship and return to you." Abraham did not say "we may or may not return!" God bless inmyheart |
