102 | Mitch, Did Paul ask a fouth time? | 2 Cor 12:9 | Searcher56 | 146599
Scripture ... 2 Cor 12:7-10 .................... You said in 146594 ... "I can say that Scripture never tells you Paul had this thorn all of his life, Because Paul never once said he was not healed of it. You yourself have said I'm argueing from silence of scripture" However, I believe Paul was content (vs 10) and based on what the Lord said He was never healed. Since Paul said he was content after three no answers, he din't ask again. |

103 | Mitch, Were all healed - yes or NO? | John 5:7 | Searcher56 | 146596
Mitch, Don't AVOID these questions. It is easy to make claims, even using the Bible. But, when one can DISPROVE those claims, even if it is one passage, one needs to make course corrections. Did Jesus heal all at Bethesda (John 5:2-9)? While Christ didn't deny anyone you asked, as recorded in the Bible, He didn't heal all. Where all healed when the waters were stirred? Even in this passage, when the waters were stirred, while all wanted to be healed, all but one were denied. |

104 | Mitch, were at Bethesda healed? | 1 Peter | Searcher56 | 146556
Mitch, Did Jesus heal all at Bethesda (John 5:2-9)? While Christ didn't deny anyone you asked, as recorded in the Bible, He didn't heal all. Even in this passage, when the waters were stirred, while all wanted to be healed, all but one were denied. Under Quick Search enter 146451 Joni Tada has asked for healing. Why hasn't God healed her? What about Terri Schiavo? Many have asked for her healing, many with great faith? There have been others who have asked and been denied. God's answer is not always yes. None of your passages prove that God will heal ALL the time, unless you consider death as healing. My wife is not feeling well and we pray she will be healed. God is saying to wait, for now. Searcher PS I would include Paul's thorn in the flesh (2 Cor 12). |

108 | jcsav, Was it Paul or Peter? | Acts 5:34 | Searcher56 | 146352
Scripture ... Acts 5:29, 34-39, 9:1, 22:3 ...... jcsav, Please show me where Gamaliel's speech was used in the defense of Paul. Gamaliel spoke (Acts 5:34-39) about Peter and the apostles (vs 29). While Paul was educated under Gamaliel (22:3), he was breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord (9:1). Searcher |

116 | CDBJ, Why can't you prove it by Bible? | 1 John 3:9 | Searcher56 | 144922
CDBJ, Eisegesis is when people use the Bible to force it to say what say what they wants. Doesn't matter what "Pastor" Thieme says, IF Scripture disagrees with him. Do you know what it means if you cannot prove what you or another says, by Scripture, and only believe what another says? That is a mark of a cult follower. |

117 | Is Jerusalem the wife of the Lamb? | Rev 21:9 | Searcher56 | 144460
Scripture ... Revelation 21:9-10 ............... "Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying, "Come here, I will SHOW you the bride, the wife of the Lamb." And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and SHOWED me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God" ... emphasis mine ... show - showed. Does this passage say Jerusalem is the "bride, the wife of the Lamb" ? |

118 | Do you see Gill's view as Biblical? | Matt 19:9 | Searcher56 | 144451
DocT, I call it Gill’s trash because I think he adds to Scripture, as MJH cites below: By John Gill's Exposition of the entire Bible: Deut 24:1 "because he hath found some uncleanness in her;" "something that he disliked, and was disagreeable to him, and which made their continuance together in the marriage state very uncomfortable; which led him on to be very ill-natured, severe, and CRUEL to her; so that HER LIFE was exposed to danger, or at least become very uneasy; in which case a divorce was permitted, BOTH for the badness of the man's heart, and in favor of the woman, that she might be FREED from such rigorous usage." (CAPS are my additions). To link abuse, cruelty, danger … as grounds for divorce is not in my Bible. I don’t find this in the Bible ... do you? I don’t think I am better than Gill or anyone, but will, even must challenge even pastors, when I see there is error (Acts 17:11). What "obvious denominational bias" do you see? While I consider abuse wrongs, it is not grounds for divorce. Abuse has civil/criminal penalties. One may even say violating Ephesians 5:22-33 as grounds, since this deals directly with the husband and wife. |
||||||
119 | MJH, Why limit it to adding abuse only? | Matt 19:9 | Searcher56 | 144214
MJH, why did you only cite a few passages? Aren't there more in the Law and the Bible how we are to deal with our spouse, family and others? If one violates Ephesisans 5:22-33, is that grounds for divorce, if it is disipleasing? The displeasing (no favor -lo khane) is because is indecency in Deuteronomy 24:1. See post 144212 on indecency. 120 | MJH, What does indecency mean? | Deut 24:1 | Searcher56 | 144212
Word study ... ervah (indecency) ............. The NAS translates ervah bare 1 time, indecency 1, indecent 1, nakedness 48, shame 1, undefended parts 2 Scripture ... Lev 18:6-19 20:11-21; Deu 23:14; Eze 23:10-29; Hos 2:9 ... MJH It deals with being naked in the Law. I cited other passages that shows Jesus clarified in Matthew 19:9 to say it was immorality. There is no mention of abuse. Searcher |
