81 | Who groans - us or the Holy Spirit? | Rom 8:26 | Searcher56 | 148263
Susan, who groans - us or the Holy Spirit? I read post 148198 ... but I see the Holy Spirit pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance ... it is not us.
82 | How's praying in the Holy Spirit tongues | Bible general Archive 2 | Searcher56 | 148489
Scripture ... Rom 8:26; Eph 6:18; Jud 1:20 ... Susan, Read the context of the verses. I see the Holy Spirit speaking (not through us) on our behalf. Therefore I disagree with "Praying in the Holy Ghost (or in the Spirit) is praying in tongues" (post 148198). Searcher |

83 | Being filled w/ the Spirit mean tongues? | Acts 2:4 | Searcher56 | 148259
Susan, I agree with you that Acts 2:4 shows the initial time people were filled with the Spirit after His going to heaven that people spoke in tongues. However,Cornelius and company in Acts 11, is the only other time where we see speaking in tongues at salvation. Luke 1:41 and 67 shows me two people filled with the Spirit - no tongues are mentioned ... also, at least once in the OT (Exo 31:3) ... plus Acts 4:8 and other NT passages don't mention the speaking in tongues when one is filled with the Spirit. Susan, Where does the Bible say "Speaking in tounges means that you allow the Holy Spirit which lives inside you to speak or pray". I am most curious by "you allow" If it is another verse please post it there. If it is here, I only see speaking, not praying. S |

85 | Ray's question | Eph 1:20 | Searcher56 | 148048
Ephesians 1:20, NKJ, "seated [Him]? Question (full): Hi Doc and forum, The King James version has [hath He quickened] in italics because it is not in the Greek. So if you agree with the King James in leaving the pronoun "He" hath quickened us" for verse five out of the interpretation, then we have a double problem in determining what was meant in the Greek. Did He quicken us or did He not? From the heart, Ray |

88 | jcsav, what believers are not saved? | James 2:19 | Searcher56 | 147090
Scripture ... Jhn 3:15-16, 36, 5:24, 6:40, 47, 20:31; Act 16:31; Rom 10:9 ... In post 147051 you said, "if you still think all believers are saved, It is impossible for you see." I do think all believers are saved. The demons who believe, don't believe in their heart (Rom 10:9) ... so I would not say they are "belivers" ... do you think they are? What other believers are not saved? Searcher |

93 | Why don't the "healers" visit Terri? | Is 53:5 | Searcher56 | 147029
I wonder why those who claim they can heal haev not gone to the aid of Terri Schiavo. Maybe they are afraid to show they are not able to do as they say. I also include those who think faith heals.
94 | jcsav, Why is order "water ... Spirit" | John 3:5 | Searcher56 | 146990
jcsav, Why is the order "water and the Spirit" ... Do you understand the Greek construct? The following is a repost of mine. Scripture ... Eze 36:25-27; Mat. 3:1-6; Jhn 3:5-8, 7:37-39; Rom 3:22, 26, 28, 4:5, 5:1; Gal 3:8, 24; Eph 5:26 ... What does "born of water" mean? There are five basic views ... it refers to 1. the ministry of John the Baptist. - Matthew 3:1-6 describes John's ministry, including people were being baptized 2. natural birth. - Verse 6 says first birth is the natural birth and the second birth is the spiritual birth 3. the Holy Spirit. - The Amplified does cross reference Ezekiel 36:25-27. John 7:37-39 seems to fit this view. 4. the Word of God. - Ephesians 5:6 is used to support this view 5. baptism as a requirement for salvation. - This is not in harmony with the rest of the Bible. We are justified by faith (Rom 3:22, 26, 28, 4:5, 5:1; Gal 3:8, 24). The Gospel is defined in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 and baptism is not mentioned. It is not even in harmony with the immediate context. In verse 8 we see "born of the Spirit" , but there is no mention of water) is likened to the wind blowing. Clearly, being born of the Spirit and being born by the wind are not two different things. Then why think being "born of water" and being "born of the Spirit" are distinct? Based on the context, including that of the NT, water here symbolizes the life and purification ..."washing" ... that the Spirit brings. I have been told this religiously symbolic use of water was common in ancient Near Eastern thought, and Nicodemus would have known this.. I appreciate Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry (CARM) for their help. |

95 | jcsav, are there candlesticks today? | Rev 2:1 | Searcher56 | 146938
jcsav, in post 146934, you said ............... "And if he said, that he would remove one of these (if they did not repent) (Rev 2:5) Then there is no reason why we should think, that every group and denomination that say they know him, have a candlestick before him." As I look at the context (Rev 2-3), I see there are only seven golden candlesticks (lampstands) - the seven churches , and this verse says there are "seven golden lampstands" ... so where is your support there are others? Searcher PS Please note I started a new thread, since we are talking about a new subject-verse |

96 | Was this passage fulfilled B4 Christ? | Ex 23:25 | Searcher56 | 146824
Lissa, I am going to jump in. EdB's analysis and conclusion is NOT total heresy. I will prove you WRONG. Unless I misunderstand you. Not all the OT promises are fulfilled in Christ. For example, - Exodus 23 was fulfilled and complete when Israel was in the Promised Land. - "For all the land which you see, to you will I give it, and to your seed for ever" (Gen 13:14-15) ... was this fulfilled in Him? ... There is many more promises not fulfilled in Him. Shall I continue? Also, have other promises been fulfilled, yet (Psa 2:6-12, Zec 14:9,16)? I see Christ as King and not fulfilled, yet. Do you want more? Show me in the books of Job and Esther, where it "points to Jesus Christ and God the Father's work of salvation" ... make it the entire book. Searcher |

99 | Mitch, How is this promise for you (all) | Ex 23:25 | Searcher56 | 146651
This is connecting your post 146631. To understand this promise you must read the context Read the whole chapter, but I will prove Tim is correct by one verse "For My angel will go before you and bring you in to the land of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites; and I will completely destroy them" (Exo 23:25). This verse and the whole context proves this is just for Israel ... unless you too are going into the land. Now you have 4 questions to answer. |

Mitch, You said in post ID# 146633 "Take for instance John the Baptist, do you notice that he was offended at the Lord? Perhaps he would not have been beheaded if he had not doubted God, I can't say for sure, all I can say, is that I know in whom I have believed! :)" Q1 - Where was "he was offended at the Lord"? Q2 - Where did do you see "If he had not doubted God" Searcher PS Are you going to answer my other questions? |
