42 | Dr. B. Who're the angels (2 Pet 2:10-11) | Eph 4:9 | Searcher56 | 171653
Scripture ... 2 Peter 2:2-11, Jude 1:5-8 ... Dr. B., Let us compare these passages 2 Peter 2:2-3 is not in Jude 2 Pet 2:2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; 2 Pet 2:3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep Jude 1:5 is not in Peter Jude 1:5 Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. 2 Peter 2:4 and Jude 1:6 tells about the same event, using different words – they weren’t killed 2 Pet 2:4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment; - Jude 1:6 And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day, 2 Peter 2:5 is not in Jude … and I hope you agree these were killed 2 Pet 2:5 and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; 2 Peter 2:6 and Jude 1:7 tells about the same event, using different words. Do you agree they were killed with brimstone. 2 Pet 2:6 and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly lives thereafter; - Jude 1:7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire. Compare 2 Peter 2:7-11 (especially v 10) and Jude 1:8 2 Pet 2:7 and if He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men 2 Pet 2:8 (for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds), 2 Pet 2:9 then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment, 2 Pet 2:10 and especially those who indulge the flesh in its corrupt desires and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they do not tremble when they revile angelic majesties, 2 Pet 2:11 whereas angels who are greater in might and power do not bring a reviling judgment against them before the Lord. - Jude 1:8 Yet in the same way these men, also by dreaming, defile the flesh, and reject authority, and revile angelic majesties. … what about the angels and angelic majesties … are these those in Genesis 6:2, or are they those angels in heaven? 46 | Dr. B. What does aggelos mean? | Eph 4:9 | Searcher56 | 171591
Dr. B., Here is another question for you. Are you saying that aggelos (angels) are the humans ... the "sons of God" from Genesis 6:2? It appears I do not understand your view on the Greek. Your view on the context is strange, I see the angels happening at a time before the flood, as the flood happened before Lot's rescue. Searcher |

47 | drbloor, where is your Biblical support? | 2 Chr 21:12 | Searcher56 | 171529
Scripture ... 1 Kin 21:20-26, 22:50-53; 2Ki 2:11, 3:1, 8:16-24, 2Ch 21:5-10,20 ... drbloor, In post 171499 you said "If Elijah went to Heaven how and why was he back on Earth writing a letter to Jehoram King of Judah nearly ten years later? (2 Chr 21:12)" ... Why do you say "nearly ten years later"? Read the timing in the Bible (1 Ki 22:50, 2Ki 2:11, 3:1, 8:16-24, 22:8ff; 2Ch 21:1ff). Then in 171518 post you claim “In addition, we are not told that the letter was written by Elijah, but that the letter "came ... from Elijah". If Elijah was in Heaven, then the letter came from Heaven!” … How do you know it was sent after he was taken? Also in post 171518 you wrote “The answer given to this is to claim that the letter was written before Elijahs disappearance. However, this would necessitate not only the foreknowledge of the specific particulars of the letter – events that had not occurred at the time of Elijahs disappearance, such as Jehoram murdering his brothers – but it would also require for God to have condemned Jehoram before he committed any sin and it would require Elijah to have allowed these murders to take place without attempting to stop them. That is an implausible reach.” If you read the Bible (1Ki 22:50, 2Ch 21:1ff), you’ll see that Jehoram killed his brothers as soon as he became king and he did evil in the sight of the Lord. Even if the letter was written before Jehoram … should I even say born … the Lord allows things to happen, while letting men have their choice. At the end of 1 Kings, Elijah told what would happen to Ahab, Inc. … tho he repented, it didn’t change God’s mind. God’s mind was changed for a time because of Josiah (2Ki 22:8ff) … while his son wasn’t on the throne yet, there was still the prophecy. Searcher |

51 | Are you His disciple? | Matt 16:24 | Searcher56 | 170721
Ref ID# 170716 ... One part of this verse that is often missed is the word "Then" ... the previous verses (21- 23), where Jesus predicted his death, then Peter put his foot in his mouth and Jesus rebuked him. The Amplified does well on deny himself ... it is what Jesus did (Php 2:5-8) ... we need to say not my will, but Yours (Mat 26:39). Taking up the cross ... means to follow Hin in death. This phrase is misapplied to mean something else. Are you willing to give up all your rights (deny self) including be willing to die for Him (take up the cross) ... following His example ... to be a disciple. If you don't - are you His disciple? |
