183 | diasperio, Explain John 2:17. | John 2:1 | Searcher56 | 139984
Let us see what John 2:12-17 says ......... John 2:12 After this He went down to Capernaum, He and His mother and His brothers and His disciples; and they stayed there a few days. 13 The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 And He found in the temple those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables. 15 And He made a scourge of cords, and drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables; 16 and to those who were selling the doves He said, "Take these things away; stop making My Father's house a place of business." John 2:17 His disciples remembered that it was written, "ZEAL FOR YOUR HOUSE WILL CONSUME ME." What passage is He quoting and what is the context? Do other passages (Matt 21:12-13, Mark 11:15-17, Luke 19:45-46) where He clears the Temple fit your view? |

191 | Angel, How is the Bible incomplete? | 1 Pet 4:6 | Searcher56 | 138984
Scripture ... 1 Cor 13:10, 2 Pet 1:16-21, 2 Tim 3:16, 1 Jhn 1:1-3 ... Angel, When I said ... "when Revelation was written, then prophecy and knowledge complete" ... it was one of two choices for about prefect (1 Cor 13:10). You said ... "Yet, we know that though the book of Revelation is complete as far as the offering of written revelations, we still need the Holy Spirit to do the actual interpretation and further refinement of the revealed matter... SO THE BIBLE ITSELF IS NOT COMPLETE! It is not lacking further revelations (new information/prophecies)... so in that sence it is perfected; yet, the written revelations cannot be resolved by man except through the Divine assistance of the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:20-21) emphasis mine.. Why do you say, “the Bible in itself is not complete”? What do we need to add to the Bible? Is what we add inspired or just interpreted? When looking at this passage, I would start in verse 16, where we read we (Paul and others) did not follow cleverly devised tales. Then in verse 19 they had the prophetic word made more sure … they took the OT prophetic word and saw it proven (vv 16b-18) and now were telling what saw and heard (1 John 1:1-3). So I see verses 20-21 as saying the OT prophecy of Scripture is inspired. The NT is inspired, too (2 Tim 3:16). Searcher |

192 | People's revelation only an inspiration? | 2 Tim 2:15 | Searcher56 | 138973
You said, "He will ensure that the right revelation is made to you through the study of the Word. Other people's revelation is only an inspiration" 2 Timothy 3:16 says, "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness" How do you see other people's revelation is inspired? I see Scripture is inspired not what other people's revelation. |

198 | Why ask about Jacob - Leah again? | Gen 29:30 | Searcher56 | 137033
Scripture ... Eph 5:22-33; Col 3:17-25 ......... On husbands loving their wives (read the context) Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, Eph 5:28 So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; Eph 5:33 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself Col 3:19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them. "Will their prayers be hindered if they follow Jacobs example in his relationship to Leah?" ... I told you the Bible doesn't say his prayers were hindered. Genesis 29:30 says he LOVED Leah, tho less the Rachel. |
