101 | Whose quotation marks or capitalization | Jer 3:19 | Ray | 23061
How do you interpret Jeremiah 3:19? Do you prefer the NASB or do you prefer the NKJ with its quotation marks around "My Father"? Who do you think is speaking here?
102 | Who is speaking in Jeremiah 6:11? | Jer 6:11 | Ray | 153549
Who is speaking in Jeremiah, chapter 6? Who is speaking in Jeremiah 6:11? I call attention to the quotation marks in the NKJ version for verse 11. Do you think that they are appropriate there? From the heart, Ray |

103 | Filled with living water or holy spirit? | Jer 31:25 | Ray | 104442
I am interested in the tenses of the various versions for this verse. NASB, " For I satisfy the weary ones and refresh [Lit. fill] everyone who languishes." Amplified, "For I will...I will replenish..." NKJ, "For I have satiated [Or, fully satisfied] the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul." Present tense, future tense, past tense. Are we filled, fully satisfied today? How does this verse relate to John 3:10 or John 7:38? From the heart, Ray |

104 | How about you?Do you know the Way? | Ezek 18:20 | Ray | 114082
The movie "The Passion" may give some people feelings of finding fault with the Jews instead of the religious leaders of the Jews. But we all individually have to decide about Jesus the Christ and are individually accountable to the Lord. In comparing Ezekiel 18:14-32 and John 14:4-6 what can we know about the ways of the Lord? From the heart, Ray |
||||||
105 | I chose Israel and lifted up My hand? | Ezek 20:5 | Ray | 141569
I have been studying the differences between the NASB and the NKJ for chapter 20 of Ezekiel. Ezekiel 20:5 has the first occurance of a difference in translation. The verse has the first and second occurances of the seven things that God "swore to" in chapter 20. How important is it to know that God lifted up His hand? What verses come to your mind in regard to His swearing? From the heart, Ray |
||||||
106 | NASB or NKJ for these verses? | Ezek 20:5 | Ray | 141629
A difference in the NASB and NKJ that I have noticed is represented by Ezekiel 20:8. NASB, "Then I resolved [Marginal note, Lit., said] to pour out My wrath on them, to accomplish My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt." NKJ, "...Then I said, 'I will pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them..." Which version would you go with for verses 8, 13, and 21; those having the "I resolved to" of the NASB. From the heart, Ray |
||||||
107 | Plead My case or judgment? | Ezek 20:5 | Ray | 141671
Ezekiel 20:35 and 36 for the NKJ version have three pronouns that are not in the NASB. The verses talk about how God will either "plead My case with you" or will "enter into judgment with you face to face". Which version do you go with for these verses? From the heart, Ray |
||||||
108 | provoked Me? | Ezek 20:5 | Ray | 141695
Another difference between the NASB and the NKJ is found in Ezekiel 20:28. NASB, "When I had brought them into the land which I swore [Lit. lifted up My hand] to give to them, then they saw every high hill and every leaf tree, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering...." NKJ, "When I brought them into the land concerning which I had raised My hand in an oath to give them, and they saw all the high hills and all the thick trees, there they offered their sacrifices and provoked Me with their offerings." Which version do you go with for this verse? From the heart, Ray |
||||||
109 | provoke Me? (revisited) | Ezek 20:5 | Ray | 141700
I am not proficient in using www.crosswalk.com. Does anyone care to say which version they would go with and why? From the heart, Ray |

110 | Prove Myself holy among you? | Ezek 20:5 | Ray | 141716
Here is the last noteworthy difference between the NASB and the NKJ to my mind and understanding. Ezekiel 20:41, NASB, "As a soothing aroma I shall accept you, when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands where you are scattered; and I shall prove Myself holy among you in the sight of the nations." Ezek 20:41, NKJ, "I will accept you as a sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you before the Gentiles." Which version do you go with for this verse? From the heart, Ray |
||||||
111 | Yet you are a man and not (g)God? | Ezek 28:2 | Ray | 137809
Ezekiel 28:2, KJ, "Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up and thou has said, I am a god, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:" I would suggest a comparison of this verse with 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 and Psalm 82:1, "God takes His stand in His own congregation; He judges in the midst of the rulers [Lit. gods]. I agree with the NASB in its interpretation of this verse. I am looking for any discussion on the quote in the verse, "I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods, In the heart of the seas";..." 112 | For lack of a Shepherd? | Ezek 34:2 | Ray | 138974
I'm thinking of Jesus as the "Good Shepherd". John 10:14, "I am the *Good *Shepherd, and I know my own, and My own know Me." Is this not the same Shepherd of the 23rd Psalm? Psalm 23:1, "The Lord is my Shepherd,/ I shall not want." I would like to compare Ezekiel 34 with John 10 and talk about the Shepherd. Ezekiel 34:5, "And they were scattered for lack of a *Shepherd,/ and they became food for every beast of the field and were scattered." Ezekiel 34:8, "...My flock has even become food for all the beasts of the field for lack of a *Shepherd,/ and My shepherds did not search for My flock, but rather the shepherds fed themselves and did not feed (My) flock." Contrast John 10:14, "I am the Good Shepherd; and I/ know My own and My own know (Me)." Is this not the same Shepherd?; both OT and new? From the heart, Ray |

113 | Is the Lord your Shepherd or just a man? | Ezek 34:8 | Ray | 50738
Is Jesus the good shepherd? I was looking at Ezekiel today where it says that "...My flock has even become food for all the beasts of the field for lack of a *shepherd..." Verse 5 says, "And they were scattered for lack of a *shepherd, and they became food for every beast of the field and were scattered." Psalm 23:1, "The Lord is my *shepherd, I shall not want." [or LACK of any good thing] Matthew 9:36, "And seeing the multitudes, He felt compassion for them because they were distressed and downcast like sheep [not having] a *shepherd." I believe that Jesus was a good man in the sense that He was a good shepherd. But can we also say that the Lord is our Shepherd? I hope that you do. From the heart, Ray |

114 | His holy and great name. | Ezek 36:23 | Ray | 153013
This is a question for a Hebrew scholar perhaps. Which translation do you prefer for Ezekiel 36:23? NASB, "I will vindicate the holiness of My name which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord," declares the Lord God, "when I prove Myself holy among you in their sight." NKJ, "And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord," says the Lord God, "when I am hollowed in you before their eyes." "When I prove Myself holy among you in their sight." OR "When I am hollowed in you before their eyes." From the heart, Ray |

115 | A look at pronouns: Is (l)Light needed? | Dan 2:22 | Ray | 133223
Reference Isaiah 50:10, post #33229. In this previous post I had considered capitalizing "Light" for Daniel 2:22 because I believe that Jesus claimed to be the Light of the world. However, this does not need to be the interpretation for there is in the verse the contrast of darkness and light. What I have "penciled in" for my personal copy is a combination of the NKJ translation for verse 23a and the NASB translation for 23b. So here is my interpretation/translation for what it is worth. Daniel 2:22, "It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him. 23 I thank Thee and praise Thee, O God of my fathers, For Thou has given me wisdom and power; Even now Thou hast made known to me what we requested of Thee, For Thou hast made known to us the king's matter." Comments from any Hebrew scholar or more reference verses would be appreciated. From the heart, Ray |

116 | Has the time arrived to believe in Him? | Dan 7:22 | Ray | 70615
I can't seem to get interested in prophecy and tribulation theories but the thread on Daniel 7:25 sparked an interest in the "Ancient of Days" in Daniel 7:22. At this time of the year when we think of when the Ancient of Days came into the world as a little Child; do you think that the time has arrived for the holy ones, the saints of God, to humble ourselves and enter His kingdom? Is this the proper time to become a member of God's flock? I think that it is. Now, today, is the time to say that we belong to Christ, the Highest One. Daniel 7:21,22, "I kept looking, and that horn was waging war with the *holy ones and overpowering them until the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was passed in favor of the *holy ones of the Highest One/, and THE TIME ARRIVED when the *holy ones took possession of the kingdom." 1 Peter 5:4, "And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. 5 ... clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He/ may exalt you AT THE PROPER TIME." What I see in these passages is the contrast between us, the ones who belong to God, ones chosen by God, ones called by God, and the Highest One. Daniel 7:9, "I kept looking, until thrones were set up, and the Ancient of (Days) took His seat;..." Daniel 7:13, "I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a (Son) of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days and was presented before Him. And to Him/ was given dominion, glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and men of every language might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion which will not pass away; and (His) kingdom is one which will not be destroyed." Is it time to humble yourself and become a member of His kingdom? 117 | "Five words" again? | Dan 8:24 | Ray | 70622
Daniel 7:18-27 suggests to me "five words" of spiritual power from the Holy Spirit. What is the word I have in mind? From the heart, Ray |

118 | rock or Rock,god or God,savior or Savior | Hos 13:4 | Ray | 20030
Deuteronomy 32:39, "See now that I, I am He, And there is no god besides Me;"NASB And there is no God besides Me; NKJ Hosea 13:4, "Yet I have been the Lord your God Since the land of Egypt; And you were not to know any god except Me,..."NASB "And you shall know no God but Me;..." NKJ The two versions are consistent in their readings in the comparisons above. The question is, which is your preference? This is a question concerning the capitalization of the word god, God. If you can express why you choose one over the other it would be appreciated. |

119 | Based on a promise? Know God? | Joel 2:28 | Ray | 114264
Are these better comparison verses? 1) Galatians 3:6-16, "Even so Abraham believed (God), and 'it was reckoned to him as righteousness'." Galatians 3:29-4:6, "And if you belong to (Christ), then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise." 2) Galatians 3:14, "IN ORDER THAT in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit/ through faith. 15...16Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his Seed. He does not say, "And to seeds, as referring to many, but rather to one, "And to your (Seed)," that is, Christ." Galatians 4:5, "IN ORDER THAT He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit/ of His Son into our hearts, crying, "(Abba!) Father!" 3) Galatians 3:29 Galatians 5:6 4)Galatians 3:17 Galatians 4:7 The bold print, parentheses, and slashes are mine for comparisons. From the heart, Ray |

120 | A willing spirit or a generous Spirit? | Joel 2:28 | Ray | 115106
Psalm 51:12, NASB, "Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation, And sustain me with a willing spirit." Psalm 51:12, NKJ, "Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit." Which translation is the better interpretation in your mind? From the heart, Ray |
