1 | How many Pastor's are preaching to he lo | NT general Archive 1 | EdB | 71507 | ||
rferg A pastor the same as anybody should be preaching to the lost. But his calling is not that. The Word say in Ephes. 4:11-12 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, [12] for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; A pastors call is to equip the saints to do the work. Have you ever noticed how many people who hear a preacher say, "what do you expect he is a preacher he has to say that." But let a lay person say the same thing and they go, "wow! It must be true." Look in Acts people weren't saved in the church, they were saved outside the church and then were added to the church. We view our commission to go make disciples as we view everything else. We would rather pay someone else to do it for us. So we expect Pastors to go win converts while we watch. God never called any of us to be spectators. Pastors were not called to win converts, they we called to shepherd the flock and teach and equip them to do the work. EdB |

Pasator's should lead by example. Jesus the appostles and disciples did and they didn't do it for money. I don't give my tithes an offerings with the idea that I'm paying someone to do my job (witnessing to the lost). I give my tithes and offering so it can be used to take care of the widows, feed the poor or take care of the needs of anyone in the body first and the prisioner. I also expect the money to be used in study material to help us who are Christians learn to read and study our bibles, not having to pay to get taught the Word through selling us books, tapes or video's. This is what the bible says to do with our money. I don't see where it says to spend millions of dollars on buildings, salaries and programs do you? As long as I have been a Christian in Church I have never heard any Pastor ask if there is any widow who needed to be taken care of, have you? I don't know of any widows taken care of financially by the church. But I know many pastor's who extreme salaries that could be used to spread the gospel. One of the biggest waste of money I see spent in the church is on the "Music Pastor's". There are so many tallented music people in the world and when they love music you don't have to pay them to lead worship in church. P.S I expect Pastor's to do a good day's work for there pay. People work hard to pay tithes which support their salaries instead of writing books, taking vacations, playing golf etc. Remember I live in California. |

Rferg I agree with much of what you said. I personally think many men will have to stand before the Lord in shame over the salaries they took as Pastors. I also think many men will stand in shame of where their priorities were, making buildings and programs more important than people. However it again is not all the pastor, if people would stop supporting the glutted hogs they would soon go hungry. Again maybe not you but many people are more willing to pay than to get their hands “dirty” by serving. They feel that since they have to go to church they might as well find one where they can get lost and never be challenged to do anything. I know churches that are packed with music people just wishing for a chance to be used while smaller churches would give anything for their talent. I know men and women that are standing 5 deep waiting to be the next youth pastor while some youth go wanting a pastor. If some of these big churches would ever get their priorities right and send people out there would plenty of music, children, youth pastors, there wouldn’t be any homeless. On TV the other night they did an program on one ministry that brings in over 100 million a year. Think for a moment how many people could/would be feed for that much money. How many children could have needed operations, teeth fixed, and glasses for that much money. Think how many widows roofs could be fixed, houses painted, cars fixed for that money. The problem is two fold first the men and women that are running these ministries and secondly the men and women that support these ministries. EdB |
