I like your answer. I go to a "KJV only" church but I now use the NIV, Amplified, NASB, and KJV.( In that order)

It's interesting that you attend a "KJV Only" church and yet prefer NIV, Amplified, and NASB. Don't they consider these modern versions rather wicked and you a bit daft, if not outright heretical, for using them? You say you use them, but is this at home in private or do you manage to smuggle these contraband versions into the church building when you attend worship services? How is it that you, who has in the KJV Only view a wildly ecumenical view of Bible versions, happen to be associated with a KJV Only group? I am not deriding you at all. On the contrary I am avidly interested in your experiences with such a group and feel that by relating your first-hand experiences you can help members of this Forum better to understand this curious phenomenon commonly known as King James Onlyism. --Hank

Hi Hank. I used to feel that the Kings english was the only bible. I am pretty sure that my brothers and sisters in Christ will understand my decision to study Gods Word in the NIV also. I have a comparison bible where I can compare the KJV,NASB,Ampl, and the NIV. You may want to check out the International bible society website. There is some GOOD information about translating and "king james onlyism". I would rather enjoy the freedom of worshipping Jesus than worry about the legalism that some try to press on a person when he reads a bible in a translation that better suits our day and age. Isn't "King James Onlyism" idol worship? I enjoy the church I attend and get fed the Word abundantly every time I attend. I am not sure how they feel about my view points on bible translation. I'm not really worried about it. Nowhere in the bible does it say that we are to only read the king james version. Just to study to show ourselves approved. IF a person on a deserted island came across an NIV bible, never hearing of God I know that he could find salvation in that Book. Jesus is the way the truth and the life and no man comes to the Father but through Me(Jesus).-Tom
