I hold to the Scriptural view which says; Heb. 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. (Heb. 6:4-6 NASB) If a man abide not me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. (John 15:6) Rom. 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Rom. 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. Dear NC, "2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth." " I hold to the Scriptural view...". I am compelled to point out, there is a "Scriptural view" that is diametricly opposed to your own. A view that shows God as the one who keeps us from falling away completely. Now, we both know that one view must be wrong and that Scripture never contradicts itself. Therefore, the fault lies with the interpreter and the pre-suppositional lens through which he examines God's inerrant Word. In this case, we have some who believe that man must keep himself saved by holding fast to Christ. On the opposite side others believe that it is Christ who must hold fast to man. If man has saved himself by an act of his own free will prior to regeneration, then it stands to reason that he could freely reject salvation after regeneration. Man, according to this pre-supposition, is in absolute control of his own fate. The pre-supposition that has God as the pre-destinator of all things (I will have mercy on whomsoever I will) holds that He is the cause of regeneration. Those, having recieved new life from Him, are then truly free to choose and they ALWAYS choose Christ for being possesed by Him has become the desire of their new hearts, and this by God's graciously re-creating them as new creatures in Christ. It boils down to this: Is one's view of salvation man-centered or God-centered? In Love, John Reformed |

John, Rom 9:14-16 14What shall we say then? There is no injustice with God, is there? May it never be! 15For He says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." 16So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy. NAS Some people say this passage speaks of man's inability to change the master plan of God, and that His plan is for man to chose Him. Mankind can not change the plan, but they can change their role in it. Does that make salvation centered on man or God? AO |

4 | Can mankind change God's plan? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mickodemus | 90101
AO, How can you say that? You say that Mankind cannot change the plan, but, you can change your role in it?? What?? If you are put in His plan you do have a role in it! If you take yourself out, you change His master plan, because your name is written on the list to begin with. If God has cast you or has changed your heart of stone to a heart of flesh (Ezek 36:26-27) and helps you to see His wonderous plan for you why would you go against it? Yes salvation is of the Lord (Jonah 2:9) It is centered on HIM! He will build His church regardless. Sola Scriptura Mike |

5 | Can mankind change God's plan? | Bible general Archive 1 | Aspiring Overseer | 90115
Mike, Say someone works for a company whose "master plan" is to make a profit. That person can either decide to do good work and benefit or do shoddy work and suffer the consequences. Either way the company's master plan has stayed the same. They are still there to make a profit. Additionally, why would this employee, who knows that his company's motives are pure and that his work there supports himself and his family, fail to live up to his end of the employment contract? Is it not within the employee's scope of responsibility to serve his employer as his employer directs? Why does the employee decide to jeopardize his own welfare? Why would God require anything less for His creation? AO |

God’s Master Plan God’s Master Plan includes ALL, the just and the unjust. His master plan my be that one person dose one thing and only one thing. That person’s whole life is only preparation for that one thing. And after that one thing that person fades into the background of life. Consider the boy with the sack lunch. All he knew that morning was he was going out and needed a lunch jest like any other day. But he brought it to the Lord and gave it to him. And the Lord fed the whole group. Out of all the other people that was their and all the other sack lunches God had in his master plan that that one boy give his lunch away. We have free will but God knows all the choices that we will make, and it is in his Master Plain. To say that we can upset his master plain is to underestimate God. |
