Greetings Matt: you wrote, "There is no immortal soul." Can you please explain what you mean here? What is the "breath of life?" Are you differentiating between soul and spirit? Yes, only God is Spirit, but each person possesses a spirit, capable of relating to the Lord God our Creator. See Rev 20:12-15. According to God's Word, man is an immortal being. Where he spends eternity is up to him. The Apostle Paul expressed what all Christians hope(this is not wishful thinking, but CONFIDENT EXPECTATION) "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." (Please read 2 Cor 5:1-8) Jesus also assured that where He is, there we (Christ followers) will be also. (John 14:1-6) What do you believe will happen to you when your body dies? Sincerely, mommapbs |

mommapbs, I beleive that all Christians have a Spirit. But I beleive that it is the Spirit of God that dwells in us. I do beleive that God will never leave us or forsake us, and that he is the God of the living and not the dead. But I dont call Christians that are SLEEPING dead either. I simply say they have entered into the Lords rest. I don't beleive in a consciouse state of being when a person is sleeping. But that doesn't mean that they are dead. Matt |

SO, what do you believe will happen to you when your body dies? As for me, Christians who are sleeping are those who have become complacent in their relationship with the Lord - not conscious of His abiding presence. And, I don't believe that the Lord's rest is a place to sleep either! I believe that we will be fully aware of His presence at the instant of physical death - we will not be alseep in Him but fully awake! Note that in the story of the Rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16) - one was well aware of his torment and the other was comforted. Our physical bodies may "sleep" in the grave until they are changed.
