Inmyheart Given the prohibition in Lev. 19:28 was aimed primarily pagan practice of worshipping their god. Isn’t today’s tattoo for the same purpose just different god’s? Instead of the god Baal today it is the god of this world that says to be cool, to in, to be with it, to be chic, you need a tattoo. Also by your eliminating this law as you have, do you not also eliminate the laws against incest, abuse, animal abuse, liabilities, property ownership in fact most of the moral codes we live by all of which were spelled out in the Old Covenant but not mentioned in the New? While we are ripping pages from the Bible should we also rip out Matthew 5:17-19 "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. 18"For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19"Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Again we were given liberty from the penalty of the law not license to commit sin. Inmyheart your using your liberty in Christ to justify doing something God has told us not to do for whatever the reason. EdB |

EdB, My closing words again: "One, "man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7, NKJV) Two, the basis of our covenant relationship to God in Christ is based, not upon rules and regulations or dress codes, but upon God's grace, which is received by faith (Ephesians 2:8f.; Titus 3:4-5)." Inmyheart Your absolutely right our salvation does not depend on our outward appearance. But why do something God has told us not to do? Because we can? Is that liberty or rebellion? EdB |

EdB in Lev 19 there are a couple other parts fo the Law i'm unclear whether we need to keep them or not. in verse 19 it is written; 19 'You are to keep My statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed together.' should we follow these or are we allowed to break them? how am i supposed to tell which parts of the Law i'm supposed to keep and which parts i'm supposed to disregard? Montag Again it is not a matter of keeping the Law as much as living in subjection to God. There are some things that we can not control or do in ignorance and thankfully they are covered by the Blood of Jesus. However there are other things that must be done willfully. These are the things I think are better left undone. When we willingly do what God has asked us not to do what do you want to call it? by my dictionary it is rebellion against God authority over us. Will it cost us our salvation? No again Christ has paid the price for our rebellion. However the question remains if we love God and want to please Him why would we do something He has instructed us not to do? Quite frankly we have spend more time and energy debating tattoos than the subject is worth. EdB |
