Greetings Kin! What "magical element" is in the water that makes it so powerful as to be the Agent of our salvation? Why is it that we can pick the time, place, and method of being baptized by water? Can we also be so lackadaisical about choosing whether or not to be saved by Jesus Christ? Salvation is by grace alone through faith- and we are not saved through water baptism. If you do a "Search" on baptism or look through many of my recent posts (November) on baptism, you will find how, where, what and why I believe in Salvation by grace alone. However, we must be "born again", that is, we must be baptised by the Holy Spirit! And this comes at the moment of salvation which occurs when the Holy Spirit chooses, not when we choose. I have never met anyone who "chose" the time when they were apprehended by Jesus Christ! - Nolan |

Hi Nolan, The "magical element" in the waters of baptism is your faith! "Having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through you faith in the power of God who raised him from the dead." Col. 2:12 To say that we don't have the choice to accept the gift of salvation God freely gives us nullifies the faith it takes to save us! Yes salvation comes through Christ alone, He has provided the door through which we enter through. "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ. When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, brothers, what shall we do? Peter replied, repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call. With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, save yourselves from this corrupt generation. Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.” Acts 2:37-41 The Word clearly teaches that there is action to be taken on our part. Repentence is personal, something you do. I don’t know anyone that is in Christ that hasn’t truly repented. I am not saying that anything we do saves us. But I do say that obeying the Word of God will save us. If God says repent and be baptized than why do you think it is so wrong to obey? Please reply to the question I asked about Matt.28:18-20. Greetings kin! Water baptism cannot save us. I've been over this question again and again on this Forum. Water baptism is the outward public display of the inner baptism that has already occurred. - Nolan |

Hello Nolan, When are you saved? At what point? Is it when you ask Jesus into your heart? When you decide to follow His call? When he picks you? When you are raised out of the water? At what point are you saved? When are you His? I truly want to know your opinion. I realize that I need to search the forum, but in my world of instant gratification :) I figured it would be faster to just ask you! I should be studying for my finals here, so I just wanted to ask your opinion on this point, not search. I hope you understand! In Him, Zach |

Greetings Zacheriah7! I believe that the moment of salvation comes when you ask Jesus into your heart! "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation." "for WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." Romans 10:9-10,13 If you are contemplating salvation, then I hope and pray that the Lord leads you to salvation in Him as well! Blessings to you, Nolan |
