1 | Only seal and horse in same verse Rev6:5 | Bible general Archive 1 | Morant61 | 18657 | ||
Greetings Jensen! Please, just call me Tim! :-) My point about Rev. 13:18 is that it is the ONLY passage in all of the Bible where we are told that there is a meaning to a number. We know the number. We know who the number refers to, but we still don't know what the number means. The best suggestion I have heard is that of Thomas F. Torrance, who said: "This evil trinity 666 apes the Holy Trinity 777, but always falls short and fails" The Apocalypse Today, p. 86). But, the fact that this one verse attaches a meaning to a number does not justify making up symbolic meanings for every number in Scripture. In the current thread, we have heard discussed that Rev. 6:5 is important because 6 plus 5 equals 11 which stands for judgement. In spite of the fact that: a) Chapters and verses are not inspired, and b) that no where in Scripture are we told that 11 stands for judgement. "Biblical numerics" is simply a gimmick. It sounds impressive to people, but it ignores the clear revealed message of the words of Scripture. The dangers are manifold: 1) The author of Biblical Numerics believes that the Bible is full of hidden messages which can only be understood through mathematics. 2) The author of the Bible Codes believes that every event is foretold in Scripture, if we can simply break the code. God revealed Himself in the words of Scripture. It is understood through grammar. There are no hidden messages or secrets which must be uncovered. There is simply God's word which must be obeyed. I guess I should get off of my soap box now. :-) I just get very concerned about the tendency so many Christians have of getting sucked into speculative schemes of interpretation, when God has given us "everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." (2 Peter 1:3) If we would simply pay heed to what He says, we would have all that we need. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Biblical numerics is not bible code! The number 11 stands for judgement and DISORDER which may be easier to understand as confusion.Why is it you left out disorder? I believe the bible codes to be another one of mans schemes to make money and not authentic. Biblical numerics is different. Jesus was given up for 30 pieces of silver 30 represents The blood of Christ, dedications. If numerics were hidden they would not be in the text. You must search for the truth it will not be given to you unless you search with all your heart. The number eleven is in the text. The number 12 represents governmental perfection and when Judas met his fate there were only eleven disciples left and they added another to get back to twelve because eleven was disorder and they needed to get back to governmental perfection. And there are mysteries to be uncovered. MATT13:11 He answered and said unto them,"Because it is given unto you to know the the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them them it is not given." The dangers lay within opinions that are given without understanding which is leading good intentions of people all over the world astray. May the FATHER show you the way. |

Greetings Casiv! Exactly where in the Bible does it say that 11 stands for disorder and judgement? Where in the Bible does it say that 30 represents the blood of Christ? Where does it say that 12 represents governmental perfection? This is exactly the problem that I have with Biblical numerics. You have made three assertions about numbers that are not supported by Scripture. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim, Casiv has a valid observation in that certain numbers turn up again and again in particular areas and ways. However, you make a valid point that men too often take this to extremes as the bible code people did with their work. Steve |

Greetings Steve! However, unless Scripture itself attaches a special meaning to a number, I would say that any such meaning we might attach would be pure speculation. Which is what always happens when people start stressing numerics. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
