Greetings Kin! It is good to hear from you again! I read through your posts quickly! Much of this we have discussed, but one point jumped out at me in particular - the issue of Eph. 4:3-7 and "one" baptism. In my opinion, too much has been made of this phrase. What I mean is this: In the context, Paul is stessing the unity between Jew and Gentiles in Christ. He says, in effect, we all worship the same God. We all have the same hope. And, we are all baptized into Christ in the same way. The stress is the on the common ground that they share. What this study seems to have done is to over emphasize this phrase and make it mean that the baptism of the Spirit must be the same as the baptism of fire, which must be the same as water baptism, ect.... I don't think this is the point at all. Paul was most likely (but not certainly) referring to water baptism. His point wasn't that there is not such thing as the baptism of the Holy Spirit or of judgement. His point was simply that they all shared one baptism in common. Other than that, I think most of these points we have discussed. Let me know what you think. I may have missed something, I just got off of an 11 hour shift at work. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Hey Tim, Long time since we've talked. Hope you are doing well. I've been doing a lot of study on baptism. It runs deep! The only thing I can say to you is to study out the stuff I put on the forum. Upon study of these points I've seen no Scriptural basis for baptism to be anything but water baptism that saves you. I suggest that you approach this study trying to find what water baptism is (if not for salvation). DIG into the study on the forum, it has lots of great insights. One can't study out these things in depth and leave unanswered questions. That would be dangerous for their faith. So dig in and get back to me. Take your time, I'll be here:) Kin |
