You say all the children are in heaven. What if they are not baptized? Where then?

The scripture says Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "Do not covet."[2] 8 But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of covetous desire. For apart from law, sin is dead. 9 Once I was alive apart from law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died Paul said that "once I was alive apart from the law." I have to wonder when sin sprang to life in Paul. It seems to me Paul is referring to an age when he became accountable; when he understood what the law said. Children don't understand the law. You can testify yourself if you have seen a baby or a toddler how innocent they are. I won't say when the age of accountability is, but a guess would be around the preteen years. (my son is a preteen!)They are going through all sorts of physical, psycological, and mental changes. So I would say a child is saved up to their age of accountability. Their ability to choose Jesus or not. And only God knows that time. |

If a person must be baptized in (water) before they get to Heaven, do you suppose that Christ might have made a mistake when He told the thief on the cross next to Him that, this day you will be with me in paradise? CDBJ

CDBJ, Jesus has the authority to forgive sins on earth. When he was alive he forgave people. Baptism is the participation of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. ( Rom. 6:1-9) Did you read the scripture I wrote to you? Jesus was alive on the cross when he forgave the thief’s sins. It wasn’t until he died did the new covenant get established. Which is evident in the tearing of the curtain of the temple, the earthquake, etc. That is why he replied in his last words “it is finished”. He came to do what he was born to do. To die and give us a way to life. So I would say that no, Jesus did not make a mistake. Kin |

Kin, that is a very interesting point that you made. May I ask you a question? Have you reached that point yet in your spiritual life that if, let's say, you were to die today, that you know for sure that you would go to heaven? What are your fellings on this? CDBJ

CDBJ, Thank you for your response! I have believed since my conversion that I am going to heaven. That’s not to say that I don’t wrestle with the issue on occasion. But those are the times that I’m not in the word everyday and maintaining a good prayer life. Satan uses those times in my life to instill fear and doubt. But on those occasions I talk to my brothers and get back on my knees and pray and study out the issues that make me struggle and God makes things clear again. Sometimes it takes longer than other times to work through things but ultimately I know that God has promised me life if I stay faithful to Him. And that always has pulled me through. Kin |

I am very fortunate in this respect because I don't have to worry about heaven any more. You see God promised me that if I would just trust in His Son Jesus Christ, and what He did for me on the cross for my salvation, that He would give me eternal life with Him in heaven as a gift. But He informed me that it must be an undivided trust in His Son, i.e. that I not depend on (anything) that I have done or will plan to do. Now the nice part is, I can't loose it, because I didn't do anything to get it, so I can't do anything to loose it. It all depends on Jesus and what He did for me. Now since Jesus is my Savior he will not be my judge. What I learned was that Jesus paid the price for all my sins, past, present and future, there wasn't a sin that He didn't pay for as long as I believe in Him. I learned that he not only paid for my sins, but for the sins of the whole World. So now it is not a problem of sin, between man and God, but what do you think of Jesus. There is actually one sin that Christ couldn't pay for and that is the sin of rejecting Him. I.e. not believing in, trusting in, or relying on Him solely, as being the only way to get to heaven. (Note) John 14:6 Jesus said to him “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” One neat part is that when God makes a promis, He can't take the promis back because if He did, the promis would have been a lie, and we all know that God can't lie, if He could He wouldn't be God! I even wrote a poem about it if you would care to read it? CONFIDENCE Are you sure of your eternal home, where you'll spend some billion years? Does the thought of death and it's permanence, arouse your doubts and fears? The Bible cites a dreadful place that doubters won't admire, They'll be cast out by an angry God, into the lake of fire! There's torment there both day and night, no help or place to run. People languish endless years, for rejecting God's dear Son. Jesus is the only way to avoid this awful place. He came and died a horrid death to save the human race. Now knowing this is not enough, your faith must be involved. By trusting in the work of Christ, the curse of sin's absolved. You can claim eternal life, for the Lord has made the promise. He died for you then rose again; don't be as doubting Thomas. You can't appease a Holy God by the puny things you do. God came down in the form of man and paid the price for you. Now Jesus sits on His throne on high, to Him all knees will bend. He will be the Judge to curse you, or, as your Savior He'll defend. Oh listen now the Bible heeds; don't add to the work of Christ! If you depend on what you've done, He'll not be your sacrifice. Trust in Christ, not your present ways; give God the credit due. He says He'll share His home with such, and give His peace to you. By Charles D. Bickett Jr. |
