1 | A SIN TO FILE BANKRUPTCY | 1 Pet 4:10 | EdB | 129979
GB I totally agree we may be forced to file bankruptcy for protection, however I do not see that dismisses us from the moral obligation of making every effort to repay our debts. There is social or Governmental justice and there is moral justice. Christians have been called to a higher standard. Not one of us would want to lose a dime to someone that manipulated the legal system therefore if we truly do unto others as we would have them do unto us how can we declare Bankruptcy wash our hands of all our obligations and walk away singing Jesus lover me? I don’t think I being judgmental I just don’t see how anyone can reconcile those two action one that by every indication is direct opposition to how we would want to be treated. EdB |

2 | A SIN TO FILE BANKRUPTCY | 1 Pet 4:10 | Glory Bound | 130065
I agree with you, but where does the moral obligation to forgive come in Ed? Likewise if we truly do unto others as we would have them do unto us, how can not understand and forgive the one who has no other option but to declare Bankruptcy, wash our hands of all our anger and walk away singing Jesus lover me? 3 | A SIN TO FILE BANKRUPTCY | 1 Pet 4:10 | EdB | 130082
GB We were talking about Christians declaring bankruptcy, not Christians that have someone declare bankruptcy on a loan they had made. First Christians really shouldn't be loaning money as such but if they do and get caught holding the bag then yes they must forgive. However that still does not remove the obligation from the lender to make every effort to repay. EdB |

4 | A SIN TO FILE BANKRUPTCY | 1 Pet 4:10 | Emmaus | 130083
EdB, I am amazed that througout this whole discussion no one has mention the modern practice of usury and the fact that banks and retailers practically forced credit cards on people without worrying whether or not they are credit worth. During the pre-Christmas shopping period I am practically tackled at the entrances of department stores by people wanting to gicve me credit cards. And at the Colleges and Univertsities the students are bombarded in person and by mail with cedits cards and offers of credit cards. How does this happen when most of them have little or negligable income to pay back any credit card debt? The banks and credit card companies, Enron like, count the amount of their tuition as income! No, I am not joking! They really do that. Ah the wonders of creative American business accounting practices. My daighter calls my description of credicard debt as indentured servitude, "Lecture 44." She was advised that if she accepted a single credit card while in college, that I would cease all financial support. Emmaus |

Emmaus I agree nothing appears to be sacred to the Credit card companies as they try any and all means to get you to take one of their cards. However being a "gun never killed anyone" type of guy. I don't think the problem is credit cards but rather problem is with the person using them. EdB |

EdB, On the other hand we do not hand out guns indiscriminately to the youg and inaexperienced and untrained, except in criminal enterprises. And to do so is also civily negligent and actionable. The fact that Colleges and universities are often in collusion with the credit card companies, in exchange for a fee, in allowing them access to the campuses is also dispicable. They thus facititate financial promiscuity in the same way they facilitate sexual promiscuity with open co-ed dormitories. The college culture of death, debt and depravity. Deliver us from evil Oh Lord! Emmaus |

Emmaus Good point!!!! Also I get credit card offers for cards from my old colleges. I won't name names but these are Bible Colleges sending out credit card offers or at least making their Alumni list available to the card company. EdB |
