Yes it is. We have heard it said several times and in many ways that all you have to do is repeat the sinner's prayer and ask Jesus into your heart. Nowhere in the scriptures have I read anything like that. In fact, when "Saul" was on the road to Damascus and met up with Jesus, he spent 3 days and nights praying and fasting and after receiving his sight, Ananias told him to hurry up and be baptized to wash away his sins, calling upon the Lord. His sins were not forgiven (he was not saved) until he complied to the order. We are always trying to find ways out of being obedient to God's Word. We will scrutinize, change scriptures, pull scriptures out of context and in any way possible, try to get out of being obedient. If we will note, in all the cases of conversion in the book of Acts (the beginning of the church) all converts were baptized immediately upon believing the Word. But yet we try to change the meaning to try and make it sound like it isn't necessary. If we change this, then we can make the Bible say anything out hearts desire to say divorce is all right, stealing is all right, adultry is all right, and so on and so on. | ||||||
