1 | is God and Jesus are one person? | Heb 1:8 | jlpangilinan | 39651
I wrote in my post that I do really believed that Jesus Christ is God no problem with that. Phil 2:6, 7 saya that He in the form of God, I knew that because He is God but not equal with the God the Father because they are different person. He dont think His equality to Himself "before" He was born Human. He is God before being born human, this is the "God" that mention in that passages and not the God the Father. If they really equal Jesus will not mentioned that word that "Father is Greater than I am" You said"so, for the third time : Jesus is God the Son, not God the Father. they are equal yet separate persons - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Never in the bible mentioned that they are equal, it is fruit of your conclusion. Who is the powerful the one who pray the request or the one grant the request. Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; The Jesus is the one praying to the Father, to give us the Holy Spirit, You said that they are equal, use your logic, which is powerful the one who give or the one given. Joh 13:16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. In that passages, Jesus mentioned:"neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him." My questioned to you is who sent the Holy Spirit? God the Father, Holy Spirit is not a human form it is Holy Spirit but it is God the Father sent the Holy Spirit. You said they are equal, but Jesus Christ said ":"neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him." who do you suggest to me to believed? you or Jesus Christ? Some of my question you did not answers, Did Jesus Forget the time of Second coming? Can you show me that passages that He forget that and why He did not know that if they are really equal? It is interesting that you appeal to the scriptures while denying what they say. you say that philippians sais that Jesus was not equal with God. while it says that He was. Phil 2:6 Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this EQUALITY with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained, 7 But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being. notice he took the guise of a servant (voluntarily) He submitted Himself EVEN THOUGH HE WAS EQUAL WITH THE FATHER. the Jews understood that. John 5:18 why must you keep harping on His statement that he forgot his second comming when he showed that He submitted himself to the Father even though he was equal. You take John 13:16 out of context. Jesus is addresing his desciples, telling them they are not greater that he. He is not decalring that He is not EQUAL with the Father. He is saying that the apostle is not GREATER (or MORE IMPORTANT) than he is. yes, I believe Him. I beleive Him when He said : John 5:23 So that all men may give honor (reverence, homage) to the Son just as they give honor to the Father. [In fact] whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, Who has sent Him. A. T. Robertson said : That all may honour the Son (ina panteß timwsin ton uion). Purpose clause with ina and present active subjunctive of timaw (may keep on honouring the Son). He that honoureth not the Son (o mh timwn ton uion). Articular present active participle of timaw with negative mh. Jesus claims here the same right to worship from men that the Father has. Dishonouring Jesus is dishonouring the Father who sent him (Matthew 8:49; Matthew 12:26; Matthew 15:23; 1 John 2:23). See also Luke 10:16. There is small comfort here for those who praise Jesus as teacher and yet deny his claims to worship. The Gospel of John carries this high place for Christ throughout, but so do the other Gospels and the rest of the New Testament. |

3 | is God and Jesus are one person? | Heb 1:8 | jlpangilinan | 40547
It seems that you dont understand what I am trying to say. As a matter of fact you just comment on the part that whant to commented to. To make this discussion short and simple, please answer this question. If they really equal, why Jesus Christ did not know the time of second coming: Mt 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. What happened here my friend did He forgot that time when He born human? If you said yes! please show the scripture word by word that Jesus Christ forgot that time when He born human. Can you show me the scriptures that show there are equal persons that the other co equal person did not know things that knew of the other co-eqaul person. Like the second coming, Jesus Christ said "My Father onLy" He admit that He did not know the time of second coming, what kind of equality is that anyway? Please explain with scriptures and not with your conclusions. Please answer this question with a passages support and not with your conclusion. I ask this question many time but you ignore it you did try to answer it. Try to answer this with scripture support to depend what you believed is true. I hope this time you will answers this question, it was a single question now, I hope you will not escape this time. God bless, Johnny |

4 | is God and Jesus are one person? | Heb 1:8 | Reformer Joe | 40572
Johnny: The church has historically recognized that Jesus was one person having two distinct but inseparable natures, one human and one divine. Jesus' human nature does not have the characteristics of divinity. For example, Jesus' human body had a beginning; God the Son has always existed. Jesus the man became tired and hungry and thirsty, which does not happen to God. Jesus the man is localized in one place at one time, while the divine nature is omnipresent. Jesus the man grew in knowledge (Luke 2:40), while Jesus' divine nature is omniscient. And, obviously, Jesus had a body which could die, which is something that His divine nature cannot do. These are issues that the early church struggled with, since Jesus is God Himself who became a real human being without ceasing to be God. What the church codified is what is known as the Definition of Chalcedon: "Therefore, following the holy fathers, we all with one accord teach men to acknowledge one and the same Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, at once complete in Godhead and complete in manhood, truly God and truly man, consisting also of a reasonable soul and body; of one substance with the Father as regards his Godhead, and at the same time of one substance with us as regards his manhood; like us in all respects, apart from sin; as regards his Godhead, begotten of the Father before the ages, but yet as regards his manhood begotten, for us men and for our salvation, of Mary the Virgin, the God-bearer; one and the same Christ, Son, Lord, Only-begotten, recognized in two natures, without confusion, without change, without division, without separation; the distinction of natures being in no way annulled by the union, but rather the characteristics of each nature being preserved and coming together to form one person and subsistence, not as parted or separated into two persons, but one and the same Son and Only-begotten God the Word, Lord Jesus Christ; even as the prophets from earliest times spoke of him, and our Lord Jesus Christ himself taught us, and the creed of the fathers has handed down to us." Therefore, since Jesus was really God and really man, one can say that Jesus' divine, omniscient nature did not communicate to Jesus' human nature the hour of His second coming. This is really the only way to reconcile passages which speak of Jesus learning and not knowing with clear passages such as: "For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." Colossians 1:16-17 and "For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form," --Colossians 2:9 The fullness of Deity includes all of the eternal, immutable aspects of God: His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth. The Westminster Shorter Catechism puts it this way, which I feel is the best summation of who Christ is: "Q. 21. Who is the Redeemer of God’s elect? A. The only Redeemer of God’s elect is the Lord Jesus Christ, who, being the eternal Son of God, became man, and so was, and continueth to be, God and man in two distinct natures, and one person, forever. Q. 22. How did Christ, being the Son of God, become man? A. Christ, the Son of God, became man, by taking to himself a true body, and a reasonable soul, being conceived by the power of the Holy Ghost, in the womb of the virgin Mary, and born of her, yet without sin." --Joe! |
