2 | What is 'perfect for all time?' | Heb 10:14 | Makarios | 12987
'perfect for all time'... "This involves a perfect standing before God in the righteousness of Christ (see Rom. 3:22; Phil. 3:8,9)" (1) "When does this happen?" "'perfect'. This term is used repeatedly in Hebrews to refer to salvation. See Heb. 5:14; 7:11; 9:9. As much as those living under the law desired to approach God, the Levitical system provided no way to enter His holy presence (cf. Psalm 15:1; 16:11; 24:3,4)." 3 | What is this perfect standing? | Heb 10:14 | Bill Mc | 13005
Thanks, Nolan, for your answer. What does this 'perfect standing before God' mean? Does it mean that I am sinless? If so, does this 'perfect standing' change the moment that I, as a believer (after salvation), sin? Or does it just mean that I am saved? Is this a one time standing that I lose when I sin or does God always see me as the righteousness of Christ? In Him, Bill Mc |

4 | What is this perfect standing? | Heb 10:14 | Makarios | 13048
You are welcome, Bill Mc! I have written: "This involves a perfect standing before God in the righteousness of Christ (see Rom. 3:22; Phil. 3:8,9)" (The MacArthur Study Bible) This "perfect standing before God in the righteousness of Christ" does not mean that you are now sinless. It means that because Christ paid in full the penalty for your sin, that your 'account' is paid in full before God, and that you are "perfect" in a sense that when God looks upon you, He sees Christ in you because of your salvation (your sin was taken care of in full at the cross). But we will be in no wise "perfect" until we step onto the threshold of heaven with our new bodies that are devoid of sin. --Nolan |

5 | Am I still a sinner? | Heb 10:14 | Bill Mc | 13158
Nolan, so, if God sees Christ in me, or maybe better, me in Christ, am I still a sinner? In Him, Bill Mc |

6 | Am I still a sinner? | Heb 10:14 | glory777 | 13161
Bill Mc- I'm kind of jumping in here, but I hope Nolan will add to it. As far as salvation, the Father sees us in Christ as His child. Look on a human family. I am still my dad's child, I always will be my dad's child, but I did do things that were wrong and broke fellowship with him. The same with our Heavenly Father. Yes, as long as we are human, we will be saints who sin. We will be saints who break fellowship with the Father (hopefully less and less often as we grow to be more Christlike), but as long as we get our "feet washed" through confession and repentance, we can reestablish fellowship with our Father. HOpe this helps. Debbie |
