1 | God and Man at the same time! (?) | 1 Tim 2:5 | BradK | 165979 | ||
Dear KumKum, Jesus was both fully God and fully man: "For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus..." He is the eternal Son of God and could therefore give eternal life. As the God-man He prayed to His Father- as scripture records. This is certainly a bit of a mystery and Christ becoming Incarnate goes beyond our ablity to completely understand it. Yet it is clearly and plainly taught in the words of the Bible. We by faith believe it! I hope this helps, BradK |

To best understand the nature of Jesus' prayer we need to understand the nature of the Trinity and the nature of Jesus' incarnation. The Trinity is made up of Father, Son, and Spirit. The point relevant to this topic is that they do communicate. The thing we need to understand about the incarnation is that Jesus became fully human and set aside his rights as God (omniscience, omnipotence, etc) and even He had to live out trust in the Father, thus his prayer. hope that helps.
