1 | Adam and Eve Perfect or Flawed | 1 Tim 2:11 | stjohn | 208152 | ||
Hi brother Steve: Good question; but we see that the serpent didn't refute her repeating of what she considered to be the gist of God's command, but responded with what is generally considered the first lie in scripture, and therefore makes satin the father of all lies, as Jesus calls him in, John 8:44, he is the source of all lying. when he said to her, "You will not surely die." and then strays further from truth by saying, "For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." so I can't really see Eve as telling a lie. And though we do see God calling His creation "good" because of her pride in wanting to be more then God had made her to be, and so, to be more like Him, was indeed the temptation at hand. It, (Creation, and Eve being part of it) was not so perfect, as in the sense that we attribute perfection to God himself, so we would not necessarily consider Adam, or Eve, as being perfect, obviously, though they were not fallen yet, per-say, but it was indeed in their nature to succumb to temptation. Just my two cents. God bless John |

Good evening forum and John, I have to agree with you John that Eve must have had it in her nature to succumb to temptation else God would have had no need to give Adam and her the commandment to not eat of the fruit in the first place. The very giving of the command implies that there was the possibility of either obeying or not obeying which in turn implies that there was a chance of compliance to that command as well as a chance of disobedience. I feel the tempter was the catalyst that led to the act of disobedience which truly can be categorized as "the fall" since Scripture teaches us that we can be tempted without falling into that temptation and sinning. Therefore "the fall" still remains "the fall" by the eating of the forbidden fruit. As for the difference in the wording between what God said and what Eve said I fail to see any major difference, certainly nothing that would imply that Eve fell from a lack of understanding of God's command to them. I just wanted to say how very interesting I found this thread. It really made me think! God bless all! budderfligh |

That's ok John. Just wondering if you included the 1 Tim. 2:11 scripture for my benefit? Sorry, but I'm still trying to learn correct posting procedures here. Peace and God's blessings to you also, budderfligh |

Hi Budderfligh: nope, I didn't include it, although, all scripture is for our benefit. :-) When we see a scripture included in a thread-line, or whatever you call the line of info about a note, a question or an answer, such as username, time, date, etc. it is there from the start of the thread. When we answer a question, we are required to use a scripture from a drop-down menu, or if one scripture does not suit the answer, we can use "New Testament" or "Old Testament" or just "Bible general" from the drop-down menu; but if we are just posting a question or a note, it's not required to do so; but the original scripture reference from the original answer in that particular thread, just stays in the thread-line. I hope that helped and I didn't just muddy the water for you? Shalom and God bless, Budderfligh. John |

Hello back John, Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know that! Guess it's like my mother used to say, "If you don't know, ask. You just might learn something!" Proverbs 15:23 A man has joy in an apt answer, And how delightful is a timely word! Peace and God's blessings to you also, budderfligh |
