Dear Cheri, The woman said to the serpent, "From THE FRUIT OF THE TREES of the garden we may eat; but from THE FRUIT of the tree WHICH IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GARDEN, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it OR TOUCH IT, or you will die.’” (Gen 3:2-3) The LORD God commanded the man, saying, "From ANY TREE of the garden you may eat FREELY; but from the tree of THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL you shall not eat, FOR IN THE DAY THAT YOU EAT FROM IT you will SURELY die.” (Gen 2:16-17) You see the diifference between the verses. I think they do not render the idea that Eve lied, but just that she was not entirely submissive thus expressing God's words her own way. 1 Tim 2:11-14 Shalom Azure |

2 | Adam and Eve Perfect or Flawed | 1 Tim 2:11 | skccab | 208126 | ||
Shalom and good evening to you I see what you are saying but then we go back to the point that if it isn't true, it's an untruth or a lie. Even a half truth is considered a whole lie (such as when Abram introduced Sarai as his sister which was true up to a point, but still a lie because it wasn't the whole truth). Now possibly Sarai's motive was more innocent than Abram's, but isn't it still a lie? Maybe I'm over-thinking the whole thing :-) Cheri |

Dear Cheri, I am just on my way to post an addition note to you. Now here is what I've perceived based on the verses and the difference. What Eve said also demonstrated her lack of attentive or less serious to the Word and details. It was apparently that she viewed the tree of the knowledge of good and evil as one of those among Eden for she said "the tree WHICH IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GARDEN". She did not regard the consequence seriously by missing "surely". Isn't it a picture, a teaching for us to handle rightly and accurately God's Words so that we leave no chance for Satan's temptaion? See how so many heresies and false teachers flourished for the same reason? Shalom Azure |
