Inquisitor, I've spent more time reading this post of yours, 224842. To your question, "Please explain as thoroughly as you can why this concept is so important to the very gospel we preach." And that was refering to my notion that being judged based on the merits or failures of another is central to the gospel. This is why: 1.) Jesus was condemned for our failures, not His. 2.)
